"This is probably gonna be a pretty lame Direct." Nintendo: "Mario and Luigi, Mario Party, New 2d Zleda, DK County Returns HD, and a sneak peak at Prime 4!"

Lol how is that not lame, the only surprise was Zelda, and its not a big title, it's a 30 dollar game (with a 60 dollar tag) No wonder why Nintendo doesn't try anymore
Personally, I'm hoping Sylux isn't a purely evil character. I'm hoping they give some context to his hate of the Federation and make him a parallel to Samus and her hatred of the pirates. We already got the pure evil dark version of Samus in the trilogy, so a more complex villain that challenges the black and white Metroid normally runs with could be really cool.
Nintendo was probably holding a few of those games which were already finished in order to celebrate the end of the Switch life which is gonna be the most popular console of all time soon enough, they will even release a special Zelda-themed limited edition Switch console at the same time Zelda comes out which will sell like crazy.
Point of clarity on Prime 4: Sylux doesn't have Metroids with him (though he does have access to them, as shown in Fed Force), those are actually Mochtroids. Metroid clones which are FAR less powerful, as seen in Super Metroid. So the implication is clearly that his Metroid research is still incomplete, since he can't control *real* Metroids yet.

@@Infindox Mario Party 7 had "Deluxe Cruise" (8 player minigame mode). Koopathlon mode took that and raised the bar. Mario Party 8 is a good game tho :)
It certainly was a good direct. I’m planning to pick up Ace, Metroid, Dragon Quest & Zelda (also I’m already dreaming of the Zelda themed lite) fun times for all!
It will be on Switch. The gameplay trailer is obviously on Switch. It uses the exact same graphic engine and controls of Prime Remastered. They made both games at the same time. Prime Remaster was a way to tease players about how Prime 4 would play like at 60 FPS on Switch.
There were SO many bangers for me in this one. Zelda starring Zelda? Waited actual YEARS for that to happen, and the way it sort of blends in the free-form BoTW/ToTK creativity, but in a traditional Zelda is so fascinating. AND MAHVEL!? An entire community worked their ass off to make this happen, and it's fantastic news To see such an important piece of gaming come back. It goes without saying that it's about damn time with Metroid Prime 4, but Mario & Luigi and a new Mario Party that looks fantastic has me very excited, along with Dragon Quest Trilogy and ROMANCING SAGA 2 REMAKE! Granted, I'll be buying most of these things on PC when available, but the Nintendo-exclusive stuff? Dang Nintendo, calm down!
Mario and Luigi Brothership is still the most shocking announcement to me, really thought it would be a remake/remaster but nope! What a time to be alive Mio, Stray, Mario Party, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, Tri and DKC Returns were my favourite announcements
Mario and Luigi Brothership made me cry. With Metroid Prime 4 I was so stunned I couldn't react. Insane we actually saw the game. It has been so long with nothing but a placeholder logo. It's so beautiful and looks to be a legit Prime game.
With Dragon Quest, I think the reason they did the split is because 3 is a quite big game and 1+2 aren't as. I could be wrong though. Also the "mature" app was a thing in Japan iirc, but not here
Yeah. Nintendo Online 17+ has been in Japan for a short bit now, and that brought up questions about if they would eventually do it here. Guess we have our answer.
Dragon Quest 3 was quite big in Japan when it was released because of so many QOL improvements, features and other things that makes it so legendary and it's not just an important part of the series, but RPG'S as well.
9/10 to save room for the Switch 2 launch showcase to be 10/10. Also, imagine they call the next console the Morph instead of the Switch in honor of Metroid. 😂
Every time I think I can't feel older, Felix says something that makes me realize just how old I really am... the offhand Perfect Dark/007 similarity "observation" really killed me haha
I'm wondering if they'll ever give multiplayer another try with Prime 4, especially now that Sylux is back. Maybe bring back the other hunters from that DS game for the multiplayer mode. Hunters wasn't...that great honestly, but that multiplayer was fun.
If you would have asked me in 2016, zero chance that I would have predicted that the Switch would be one of my favorite consoles of all time. I got an NES in 1985, when I was four. I've had most every console worth owning since then. I think the Switch has my favorite library. But that might be for strange reasons. Nintendo doing another console about innovation as opposed to power again put them in a different race from XBO-Sorry, Microsoft Gaming, and Sony. I have a PS5. I play PS4 games on it. Anyway, Nintendo doing their own thing means I have Doom and Dusk and all sorts of crazy shit on a cartridge. The Switch successor might be on par with 8th gen consoles. That means game sizes will blow up. Let's hope that doesn't mean no carts. Anyway, tldr, Switch good, hope Switch 2 hav carts
What I just realised was the lack of an amiibo announcement. I don't suppose it was really on anyone's bingo card for this direct - but its curious that there hasn't been any new Amiibo for a while... Personally I'd love a Princess Zelda in the Echoes of Wisdom style to go with my Link's Awakening Link.
This direct is probably going to be pretty empty "AND HERE COMES MARIO AND LUIGI WITH THE STEEL CHAIRS-" "AND HERE COMES ZELDA WITH THE STEEL CHAIR-" "AND HERE COMES SAMUS WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!"
I wish that we got an oled switch lite with that Zelda special edition but I know I’m gonna get it anyway! Fitting to get a new Mario and Luigi game, especially since I’m experiencing them all on the 3ds for the first time currently. And would it kill them to give us a new donkey Kong? I’ll take dkc hd but I think a dk64 remake would have been cooler.
I didn’t really care for it in Links Awakening but I absolutely love the art style in the context of this new game. Im also getting a Dragon Quest Builders vibe
I think the Zelda game having links awakening art style kinda makes me think back to the 2000's when they used toon link style for a while. Also, is there a potential connection to the links awakening?
Hard to deny how great this direct was. There’s still a lot I wish we saw like Pushmo, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, DK 64/Diddy Kong on NSO, Fire Emblem 4 and an earlier release date for DKC Returns. But great nonetheless
For those wondering about the music issue in Dragon Quest, it all comes down to the composer, Koichi Sugiyama. Long story short, he owned the rights and was very militant on how the music was used. He much preferred making money in concerts/albums. He only liscenced the music to Square Enix in midi format - with some rare exceptions - so that he had control over the originals. Among other things, he was also very right-wing; he disliked the west; he was several kinds of racist; just as bigoted; and denied Japanese war crimes... but Square Enix couldn't let him go or they would very likely lose all access to any music used in the series. So... yeah. A big ol' muddle of stuff going on there. He died several years ago, so not sure how his company is handling the old music now but Square Enix has a new composer going forward.
31:15 - How could you even say "I can't really knock it for being a new game" instead of a remake of old ones? I'm not saying that we shouldn't have old MP maps remade in a new, updated style, but it seems to me that a new game with one or two remade tracks like this one is is FAR better than something like Superstars, in my opinion. If more new MP games get that kind of treatment, we'll eventually have a bunch of old tracks remastered in newer styles. But I'd much rather just have sequential new games like we had through the Wii U era.
Cant express enough my excitement for Mario&Luigi the art style and animations are top tier yet again from Nintendo. Arguably the most intuitive of the mario RPG battle systems too i really cant wait to get my hands on it
That idea of Link being more recognisable in blue clothing rather than green these days makes me feel older than mummified Ganondorf.

It’s Returns with the 3DS levels on a console so it looks nice… it’s exactly what I wanted, since I wanted this game almost as much as a new game to have the full series on Switch.
That Hello Kitty game is on Apple Arcade. You don’t exactly need to go to Summer Games Fest to play it. It’s pleasant for sure.
It caught my attention with Mario and Luigi but the moment I saw the MvC collection and Metroid Prime 4 sold me
What was zion saying at the end about this being the first time we see samus in universe?
Ahh, I was just trying to express how it's great we finally got to see what Samus will look like in MP4! - Zion
Super Mario Party Jamboree looks like it could be a direct sequel to Mario Party 7
Its a direct sequel to super mario party
Nothing wrong with MP8!
@@crowkid5553 Content wise. Its nothing like Super Mario Party. Added features replicated Mario Party 7 much more than any other game in the series
@treverse_ the minigames use motion control like super, and the extra modes are like super
Metroid 4 Beyond had the switch logo in the top left corner, so I think that’s confirmation it won’t just be on the new console.
Plot twist, the new console will be called Nintendo Switch +
I would like even more if they realeased Metroid Prime 2 and 3
Now I want a Mario and Luigi mod for Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons...
Mario and Luigi Brothership is still the most shocking announcement to me, really thought it would be a remake/remaster but nope! What a time to be alive
Mio, Stray, Mario Party, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, Tri and DKC Returns were my favourite announcements
Brothership love it
13:45 Wasn't ready for that Peep Show reference!
All those IP in the Funco Pop game are Universal properties.
B+ to A- for me, very good. Can't decide where I land.
‘So not rainbow rhythms’ was a top tier reference
Metal Slug Attack is already a mobile game. It is just getting ported over.
yeah, not too interested in that.
Metal Slug Reloaded was an Apple Arcade game. We had quite a few of them in this Direct.
Echoes of Wisdom is Nintendo's idea of minecraft mechanics, laying things (materials) down/summoning interactive in-world elements
FYI the video link in the description leads to a private video.
Also chronically, Dragon Quest 3 takes place before the events of 1 & 2. Hint why it's known as the " Erdrick Trilogy ".
Best last direct for an amazing system, switch is going out with a bang
N64 Mature exists for Japan - It’s the M-rated games in a separate app for technical/legal reasons. 21:46
9/10 to save room for the Switch 2 launch showcase to be 10/10. Also, imagine they call the next console the Morph instead of the Switch in honor of Metroid. 😂
When will fantasium be launched?
Every time I think I can't feel older, Felix says something that makes me realize just how old I really am... the offhand Perfect Dark/007 similarity "observation" really killed me haha
will MP4 have co-op?
I'm wondering if they'll ever give multiplayer another try with Prime 4, especially now that Sylux is back. Maybe bring back the other hunters from that DS game for the multiplayer mode. Hunters wasn't...that great honestly, but that multiplayer was fun.
Fantasian is pretty cool! Played on Apple but happy it’s coming to switch. Excited for Mario party and the Legend of Zelda echoes of wisdom
How many cosy games did we see versus cozy games?
I'm just happy Nintendo showed off new games with actual gameplay.
Alex, I appreciate the subtle Peep Show reference.
This direct is probably going to be pretty empty
"AND HERE COMES MARIO AND LUIGI WITH THE STEEL CHAIRS-"
"AND HERE COMES ZELDA WITH THE STEEL CHAIR-"
"AND HERE COMES SAMUS WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!"
As Gawd is my witness that prediction is broken in half!
"AND HERE COMES CYCLOPS AND RYU WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!"
The marvel vs capcom collection is the highlight I don’t even remember what else came with it….
I’m normally watching on my switch but other things were happening on my day lol
Omg Yes 👍! Taking all of us for a ride Marvell vs Capcom arcade fighting collection and Metroid Prime 4
Considering how low the bar was set by PlayStation and Xbox, it wasn’t a difficult hurdle for Nintendo.
I agree with Zion about the art style of Echoes of Wisdom, I think it deserved something more unique.
I didn’t really care for it in Links Awakening but I absolutely love the art style in the context of this new game. Im also getting a Dragon Quest Builders vibe
I really think Metroid Prime 4 Beyond would be a launch title for the next Nintendo console as well.
I just hope that they realease prime 2&3 before four. 😂
I think the Zelda game having links awakening art style kinda makes me think back to the 2000's when they used toon link style for a while. Also, is there a potential connection to the links awakening?
I still play switch sports
MvC2 is out of jail yall we made it!
I'm still salty there was no mention of animal crossing or tomodachi life even if the chances of getting them were very low
For a last year of the switch, that was an amazing direct
Link doesn’t look normal in green to me. He suits blue way more
Gosh that was incredible. So glad they are also putting Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on the Switch
35:15 We don’t know if it’s Grezzo or not, it hasn’t been confirmed.
I was so happy when they announced AA: investigations
This direct was incredible ❤
Didnt Nintendo Life have an article about N64 Mature in December because it was only released in Japan to have them play 007?
looking forward to the new zelda game and mario and luigi!
That's "Kinetic Card", according to Google.
Cant express enough my excitement for Mario&Luigi the art style and animations are top tier yet again from Nintendo. Arguably the most intuitive of the mario RPG battle systems too i really cant wait to get my hands on it
