I’m glad there are other people enthusiastic about this, I felt kind of alone bc everyone I’ve seen talking about it is like ‘we’ve already seen it all before bc of the leaks’ which, while true, doesn’t take away from the reveal to me
@ I actually never thought about it like that but that’s so true - having an actual trailer (which may I add is aesthetic is HELL) which shows you just how different these two consoles plus a sneak peak at the next Mario Kart from Nintendo themselves feels a lot better than seeing a tweet of someone going ‘Here it is. Deal with it’ kind of thing 😂
@mothwingthemedicinecat that's honestly so sweet haha. Its nice to be able to share your enthusiasm with famoly, even if they dont entirely 'get it' :)
i think the joycon straps will use a physical attachment so the rail doesn't come off of the joycon when using the strap for its intended purpose, which is why the detachment would be on a button on the rail instead of using the same detachment button (trigger?) as when attached to the console. you can also see indents on the top and bottom of the joycon "rail" when the strap isn't attached, which further makes me think that at least something will use those indents for physical attachment rather than just magnetic. Edit: I also watched the trailer again, and I could make out protrusions at the top and bottom of the insides of the straps when the joycons come out of them.
I don't think it's a ball bearing on the wrist straps. Most mice these days just have low friction pads on the bottom. The wrist straps even seem to have those kinds of pads when viewed from the side.
Best guess at the moment. Ball bearings, though smooth, would still scratch surfaces. Pads are far less likely to do that, will not be as serious of a choking/swallow hazard for children, and are generally cheaper.
Because of the backwards compatibility of the switch 2 if there is an actual chat system in the switch 2 it is possible for the switch to get a chat update.
I dont think it'll be metal, it'll just have a more premium feel like the OLED switch. We see when the wrist straps come off, that they are just holo in the middle, because they wrap around the part which sticks out. They're probably made of a soft plastic, having ball bearing is a stretch. I don't think the accent colors mean anything, a limited edition NS2 system could easier change this to match their design. The switch 2 bezel is bigger than it looks, so I don't actually think there's a bunch of room above the dock to display anything. And yeah the cable is just the hdmi cord. When the joycon are in the grip, holding it from the side will be fine?? You'll just be holding the controllers?? It'll probably feel more ergonomic too.
One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is that for the first few frames, the grip is shown. You can see the pin thingy on the side. Maybe the grip will have a battery built it. Also, let's hope and pray that the switch 2 will have decent bluetooth/wifi capability.
Also my hot take is that the bumpers will have some sort of touch sensor that also lets them function as a scroll wheel, since that’s sort of necessary for a mouse
6:38 the bumper buttons are also bigger so you will be able to right/left click (depending on which joycon your using) easier while using the mouse function
people be theorizing about the second usb c port when my only thought is "yay I can play in tabletop mode while charging my switch" i wouldn't be surprised if tabletop mode is half the reason they added a charging port on top. maybe also for pro controllers to use when not in docked mode.
If nintendo didn't add physical backwards compatibility, that would have almost been a deal breaker for me (probably would still end up buying it even if it didn't lol)
I find it a little funny that they’ll slowly be making it bigger until at one point you just carrying around a flatscreen tv docked to play on another flatscreen tv
5:24 they are also kinda moving like a real mouse (im not a a animeal expert) but they move kinda move like a real life mouse with the tail and the overall movement
Awesome breakdown, can't wait for the MK9 analysis. Been subscribed for a short while, this channel feels much more genuine than so many other channels out there. Wishing you the best of success with your degree and this channel overall.
speaking about the kickstand, mine has fallen off to a point where i literally cant use tabletop mode because i dont know where my kickstand even went lol 😂
I feel like Nintendo could just do the blue and red color of the connectors at the side of the joy con, maybe with a color gradient or smth, and still do designs for games and stuff without having the red and blue present around the sticks.
Me when I see the size of the switch 2 console in comparison to the previous ones:"It's bigger!" Me when I see the switch 2 joy cons have less color on them than the first one: "It's badder!" Me when I see the price for the switch 2: "Ladies and gentlemen it's too much!"
The price hasn't been revealed yet. Also really? Does the saturated colors really make a difference? I think it looks better with just the accents (also you might be able to choose the accent colors)
There’s be no reason for that shape to be their to ease manufacturing. Also; this is a render. None have been manufactured so those artifacts wouldn’t be present or even known yet.
USB 4 can handle up to 100w, it can also handle audio and video, so it could be that it's powered by just the usb c and an optional cable to charge it if the tv can't handle usb 4.
I’m a little worried about the joy con grip. I know the original is slightly small, but at least it feels natural. With the front being completely flat, I am not excited. Hopefully they give a switch 2 pro controller or switch one pro controller compatibility
i believe the thing on the side of the joycon is just something that pokes out and presses against the wall of the connection and seperates the controller. its the reason i think they are shown to be connevted from the bottom first and detach the same way
I actually think as they market things the inside color on the console might change. Since they have a plus and minus symbol inside they don’t 100% have to indicate the color goes with color for people to know which side is which.
I believe that the "*Certain games may not be compatible" might refer to the Labo games as the larger size means it won't fit in the Labo contraptions.
I totality missed the ir camera and mouse functionality and the part where it turns metal. Thanks! Also no one talks about how much easier it is going to be to charge in handheld mode with the new USB C at the top.
I was helping run a work event during the announcement and literally ran to the bathroom post event to check the trailer out but I am SO excited. This looks like a fresh coat of paint for the switch, and I love that Nintendo didn't hold back on finding a new gimmick (The mouse functionality) that still gives it the Nintendo feel! I hope they have different joycon options on launch simple because I like how colorful Nintendo consoles are but we'll take what we can get! I also wonder are they going to continue to call them "Joycons"? I love the name but I also understand they may want to prevent confusing parents trying to buy a pair for their kid who has the Switch 1. So much to look forward to!
A bit of screen over the dock, well the original switch has that too, but also it's not usable for everyone's set up. My dock is backwards compared to the TV for example, simply because the direction the cords stick out just wouldn't work if I put it the other way, without like getting a longer cord for just that specific reason.
I think the colors are just there in the switch unit to show what original colors go with it. I bet the games versions will have different inner rail colors
9:15 what I think is more likely is that they will make those accented parts have different colors. So every variant has the dark gray body, but the accents are different, like Green & Purple for example.
something i believe you missed is that on the frame where the joycon attaches to the railing you can see a black thing similar to what we see under the mouses at the bottom
The joycons sl sr rails don't use magnets to connect. The mouse is a good idea. But I can only imagine how many crumbs will enter the joycons port. If using the cursor without the rail.
The Americanised Date on the Nintendo direct teaser screen is so frustrating as a european, its Day Month Year, it is linear and perfect, as it should be.
WE FINALLY MADE IT🤯
Never thought so
Yes we have switch 2 is real 😮
Yessss been dreaming about this since October 2024
Yay!
you need to change your channel to switch 2 stop 🤣🤣🤣
Nintendo took "joycon drift" to a whole new level.
But in a good way tho lel
😂
Nah for real
These Joycon drift, but on purpose
yeah, the second level.

Why would you go out and buy a switch 2 when the switch 1 clearly is capable of transforming into a switch 2?

So right, you think it’ll be able to transform back?
just buy 2 switch 1's, 1+1=2 Problem solved!
I really loved the "Smack" of the Joy cons on the console as well as FREAKING MARIO KART 9!!! Those were really the highlights of the Trailer!!

The reason the R button wraps around so far, is so when you’re using it in mouse mode you have something to click.
