Funny... and true. At least for the top IT people, the ones that actually keep the internet from imploding due to sheer mass. I was told that at least 8 out of 10 of the top tier IT professionals show up to furry conventions with a brand new costume
I really dont understand why every streamer doesnt do the zeke/thor approach to ads. You do your stream for 45-60 minutes. you take a short 1-2 min break and pause the game/stream to go to the bathroom or stand up walk around a bit and then you go back. This to me seems to be the most obvious and convenient way to do this for everyone? And yes, pre-rolls 100% are a major factor for me not wanting to tune into people I am not subscribed to.
It's also good for your health because it gives you the opportunity to get up and stretch your legs. If you don't, if you're sitting in the same position for hours, you run the risk of forming a blood clot in your legs that then travels back up and gets stuck in a lung, and suddenly you've got a 25% chance of dying in a few hours from a pulmonary embolism.
I am a UA-cam watcher. I have UA-cam premium. When I tune into twitch preroll ads literally cause me to switch off of twitch. Not just the streamer, I switch off the platform. I don't feel like buying twitch prime as I don't use the webpage enough to upgrade. I don't use the webpage because of pre roll ads.
I used to work at a museum and we had a huge training day where we watched all of these videos about never letting anyone in to sensitive areas without a badge and all that stuff. That's when I realized that all of that training means nothing if no one cares.

When Thor said that his knowledge refined his paranoia in the right way, that's probably the best way I've heard it explained. I've been a locksmith since i was a kid, having an uncle of whom was a locksmith, and i got into that asap because i was also into Csec. Started watching defcon talks etc, its natural to do so. But i have to say that while it certainly is easy to go down the hole of excessive paranoia, knowing that no lock is safe, theres nothing i can do to genuinely secure anything in my home or that i want safe, and a determined person can easily walk into any building with minimal effort, even without picking anything, usually with nothing mkre than a coke bottle or something to slip a latch. I've broken into my own apartment drunk, using a stick, and a BBQ scraper I found in a hard waste pile down the road that i filed down using the curb into a rake/bump key and managed to get through 3 doors. And it was even easier knowing that being an apartment, they are masterkeyed. Meaning more top pins = easier to pick. (Basically) Friends ive taught see the minimal potential and risks and freak the f out because all of a sudden, their safe is vulnerable to a hard whack of your hand on the top of the safe, or a magnet. But when you fully understand, you know that the odds of someone who knows how to pick locks properly, and targeting you, unless you had some sort of social media presence or reason to do so, is so unlikely its nearly a non issue. Doesnt change the fact that someone could walk into your house with no sound in half a second at a moments notice. But it does demonstrate that the likelihood of that happening is miniscule. Its the same with Csec. As long as youre a nobody, theres really not too much to be concerned with regarding being targeted. Mass spread malware is a different story, but being targeted is so unlikely it's just an absurd concept to worry about as a person of the general populous. (Not getting into if you work for a large corporation and have some level of access etc.) However. It does open your eyes to the security vulnerabilities around you. Wifi passwords unchanged from the sticker on the router, lock latches that have been filed out so large on doors for ease of use, that the safety pin for slipping no longer functions correctly and can be slipped. Or even in one case i observed while having my child, which resulted in a red team job, a hospital, spesifically a birthing suite with children, that had no secure locks, could all be slipped, alarms disabled because of prior complications, and sticky notes on computer monitors and folders with all the usernames and passwords for their software and the medical details of anyone in the country, available and freely accessable at a desk that was unattended all night. And since i was there awaiting the birth of my child, i poked around. The ability to write my own prescriptions, the details of anyone in the country all available. Just because one person leaves their passwords on a sticky note at their desk, is concerning. But its something that can be fixed. And as he said, theres far more of us (white/red hats etc.) Than there are of them. So yeah, the paranoia is real. But it also becomes realistic with the increase of knowledge. And that's whats important. If you learn just a little lock picking or how to use a bump key and go off half cocked, its easy to go off the deep end. But the more you know, the less its really a problem because you know the realistic limits too. Well put.

Pirate was like a man coming down from a higher league in comparison to our normal hosts andowned the whole show more than any other and would love for him to come back on. Cohh needs to let the others speak and let them even have a shot at speaking. More so than any other episode cohh tried continuously to not only talk over jp and zekk but to take space from the guest
On the mobile game ads aspect, the one I really like and/or respect is the bonus ads. "If you watch that ad, then we'll double your earning for that level!", that's the best way I've seen, most of the time I do it!
Fascinating episode! I usually put these on the background, but I was actually just watching the podcast the entire time. Hopefully he becomes a recurring guest--when the schedule permits of course.
The lore for Pirate Software goes deeper than any Tolkien character. I've been watching him for months now and still learning about the insane stuff he's been involved with. Like how his dad is the inspiration for the villain in the South Park WoW episode, or that the Twitter account for the TV show Mr Robot stole from his writeup and tweeted it. Dude's like a 40k character. His involvement can be traced back for thousands of years in lots of different mediums! EDIT: corrected the Mr. Robot writeup. They didn't put it in the show, but put it in a tweet.
Someone needs to teach Cohh how to shut off his phone or at the very least put it on vibrate / silent. Nothings more incredibly rude to a guest that is speaking than having to hear a damn phone go off constantly.
@@ben-hurray It's OK, you don't need to defend him. He's not going to notice you. I swear these weirdos coming out of their cult closets to defend their strimmer is nutty. Go ahead Ben and Hurry back into your hole. 🤣
It's so awesome to see Thor here, but also very odd! Thor's one of the most organized, focused, incredibly well-put-together streamer/YTuber I know. And now he's on a podcast with these numnuts. Ver funny.
1:45:25 Was so nice to see Thors patient but steadfast rebuttal to Cohh in this exchange. Cohh keeps making assumptions, clearly wanting a reason to blame Microsoft without any solid evidence (at least at the time) of who was actually at fault. I'm sure it was partly a bit to keep things entertaining, but unfortunately this is also how a LOT of people think and make decisions. So it is always good to see someone push back and try and force people to think logically and to hold back on blame and accusations when the evidence isn't there. 1:48:43 Once again, Cohh is making assumptions here that we don't have the evidence to say is true or not. For all we know Microsoft had an internal system that warned Crowdstrike of an upcoming change that somehow got lost in Crowdstrike's internal operating procedures. In which case it wouldn't be on MS at all since they had done due diligence in warning their enterprise partners (assuming this is a thing), ahead of time. It is all what-ifs at the stage this was recorded (I have not kept up with anything so have no idea if anything has changed since, so just going by what was known at the time). So, once again, it's so refreshing and incredibly important for people to take Thors advice and not jump to conclusions before all the information is available. What you think you might know is almost never the whole story.
It’s not a crowd strike that worries me about human body technologies integration. My great aunt had cochlear implants. They stopped supporting the version she had and needed to buy new ones so she could continue hearing. So one day you could have some tech wired into your brain and the company behind it could just stop its support.
15:19 Guest: Let me tell you my sweat-tear-and-grit-drenched success story. Cohh: Omg gurl, I did the same thing TEN YEARS AGO! Then let me tell you more about me! I’m sorry, that was just such a tone-deaf comment in an otherwise incredible show.
Ikr. I watch cohh daily but this one had me cringe. I think/I hope it was just the excitement cohh was feeling, that he burst out with words b4 thinking them through.. like he just meant to say 'I did that too! we both had the same awesome idea'.. I hope
Almost put me off this episode not gonna lie. I absolutely love what PirateSoftware does and he is so fascinating to listen to but Cohh almost made me skip this one.
I kept wanting them to mention it could be the other way around. If Windows did push an update, Crowd Strike should have had a check in place to make sure the update was working on a tested update release Plus, most corporations don't allow windows updates to auto run, so some of those machines shouldn't have gotten any windows updates.
@@Linkman8912 🤷♂when I was writing this response I was on the UA-cam phone app, so it probably put my comment on the wrong thread. I was agreeing with somebody who posted about their crowd strike comments.
Yeah Cohh seems like a know it all ass. But that is pretty much every streamer. They deal with just a little bit of tech and think they are experts. I work in IT and i still wont claim i know what the fuck happened. Just how to fix it. Which is my job. Fixing it.

I want the Thor and Rami crossover, and I want it now Bonus points if you also get Josh Strife Hayes in there, little different field, but perfect person for those two to bounce off of
Man what an incredible discussion. I feel like Thor just lit a fire in Dropped Frames and everyone was here for it. Excited to catch up and watch the next one!
BTW, the Dave's Garage youtube channel has a cool short video that exactly explains how this update broke windows (and points out some glaring issues with the crowdstrike software)
Crowdstike is security professionals fault also. They are the one who insisted you need kernel level access to keep things safe. This was ALWAYS going to happen.
Thor: "So it's complicated, we don't know who's at fault" Cohh: "But... Is it Microsoft?" Thor: "We don't know, it's complicated" Cohh: "But could it be microsoft?" Thor: "We don't know" Cohh: "...so it's microsoft?" Like c'mon, dude
It's fine when Cohh interrupted Zeke a few times, it happens to anyone, but here it happened like 50 times!! Poor Zeke just gave up close to the end. Anytime he tried to join in, Cohh shouted over him like he wasn't even there. Disrespectful af...
They are friends zeke knows cohh doesn't do it maliciously and its aware that if he needs to he can tell him to shut up Yes cohh was overly excited this episode and zeke let his bro have a good time I fully understand not enjoying it, but "poor zeke and disrespectful" is a bit much
@@a3-radio Idk, did you see his face when he got interrupted over and over? Sometimes its hard to put a feet down for yourself, especially when youre in the middle of a live show and dont want to ruin the vibe and the discussion. It would be fine if Cohh would go "Sorry Zeke, I spoke over you, please, what did you want to say?" as JP does a lot of the times, because he knows the feeling of not being heard. But hey, I might just be projecting.
I've watched all DF episodes, but I must admit this one was really something special. The chemistry was there, the subjects were interesting (as always), Thor brought a more technical viewpoint and overall I just felt like you guys had a ton of fun, which always feels great from a viewer PoV :) Please have him on again eventually!
Like many people have said, this was an amazing episode. I really enjoy the Rami episodes aaaand so having them both on one podcast episode somewhere.... That'd be awesome.
TTP is a real thing. I worked on terrain in a game, I implemented snow displacement, and while I was showing it to the team one guy said "you know the first thing players are gonna do with this, right?" And the artist who was testing it started to giggle uncontrollably. He was halfway to drawing a 30ft dick in the the snow. TTP from implementation was like 10 minutes.
This interview really shows how much JP asks excellent questions, Thor has the best answers possible, Ezekiel knows when to sit back and let someone talk, and Cohh will not. Shut. Up...
Yeah even if a MS update specifically broke Crowdstrike, it didn't break Windows. Windows boxen not running Crowdstrike fared just fine, and MS shouldn't be required to test for every possible hardware and software combination, because no QA department does that, there's too many possible combinations. Guaranteeing that Crowdstrike works on Windows is Crowdstrike's problem, not Microsoft's.
2:21:05 My advice based on how I was raised in the early 2000s: Don't give them access to touch screens first, give them controllers, TV remotes, mouse and keyboard. Don't give them touch screens right away, wait a few years, also don't give them smartphones until high school (I was raised this way and I think it worked out better because I was more engaged with my life as a kid)
I spent decades playing video games without ever using a controller (well, there was a short episode of Super Mario World on the SNES), so I don't think controllers are absolutely necessary. But yes, motivate kids to do things with their hands like old-fashioned crafts.

THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HIM FROM!!!! I remember that clip when he explains his dad is Dildo Schwaggins 😂😂😂 (was it dildo, or the other guy? Now idr..😂)
this is by far the most entertaining episode iv seen so far, def need to bring him back again
Someone needs to teach Cohh how to shut off his phone or at the very least put it on vibrate / silent. Nothings more incredibly rude to a guest that is speaking than having to hear a damn phone go off constantly.
Cry about it
@@ben-hurray It's OK, you don't need to defend him.
Ver funny.
One of the best guests on this show and Coh interrupts him every 2 mins. Just let the guy talk.
Great to see Thor on Dropped Frames! Now let's hope he becomes a regular :)
i get that delays are a thing in video calls, but man Cohh really likes to interrupt people
1:45:25
Was so nice to see Thors patient but steadfast rebuttal to Cohh in this exchange.
1:48:43
Once again, Cohh is making assumptions here that we don't have the evidence to say is true or not.
Does Cohh have the rest of his co-hosts on mute?
This was a really interesting guest and you guys asked him a lot of good questions. Great episode.
It’s not a crowd strike that worries me about human body technologies integration. My great aunt had cochlear implants. They stopped supporting the version she had and needed to buy new ones so she could continue hearing. So one day you could have some tech wired into your brain and the company behind it could just stop its support.
People forget that the cyberpunk genre is already a reality for many disabled people.
That's awful dude, she should sue them, it's literally extortion!
I have cochlear implants too they cost alot and two sets could ruin life thats alot of money
thanks for the quick upload as always, could not catch it live today ❤🔥
1:45:59 when thor mentions hating armchair experts, sitting (virtually) across from one (cohh). He just keeps going on it
I kept wanting them to mention it could be the other way around. If Windows did push an update, Crowd Strike should have had a check in place to make sure the update was working on a tested update release
Plus, most corporations don't allow windows updates to auto run, so some of those machines shouldn't have gotten any windows updates.
@@GSpacmanvicewhy are you replying to this comment?
@@Linkman8912 🤷♂when I was writing this response I was on the UA-cam phone app, so it probably put my comment on the wrong thread. I was agreeing with somebody who posted about their crowd strike comments.
@@GSpacmanvice oh, I see. That happens to me all the time
Yeah Cohh seems like a know it all ass. But that is pretty much every streamer. They deal with just a little bit of tech and think they are experts. I work in IT and i still wont claim i know what the fuck happened. Just how to fix it. Which is my job. Fixing it.
Top 5 favorite episodes without a doubt! Thor is so knowledgeable and he does an excellent job to share it with the viewers. Of course I always enjoy the funny bits with Jp, Zeke and Cohh their synergy is enjoyable.
This is great. I'm an old PC guy and listen to how the new kids roll is awesome.
I love that EVERYONE else loves the drawling just as much as Thor's chat does.
This was one of your best episodes in recent memory! We NEED more Thor and you!
This might honestly be my favorite episode of DF ever
What a great guest. Something about the way he talks, he's so easy to listen to.
dude, the defcon stories from thor are nuts
always a treat to have the crew put out another great podcast. PiratwSoftware aka Thor an Rami would be a great sight to see.
Shout out to ZEKE! The Spider Robinson shoutout might have been a mistake but hell ya on the Callahan's series! Going to smash a glass in the hearth for you mate!
1:13:00 Absolutely. The more you know, the more accurate your assessment of risks and hazards. You become paranoid in the right way, and you can take reasonable steps to manage the risks and hazards.
Glad to see Thor seems to get Unions and is for them.
I hope you bring Thor back in a future episode(s), because the chemistry between you four is awesome! Also glad I finally get to see Thor and Cohh interact!
I want the Thor and Rami crossover, and I want it now
Bonus points if you also get Josh Strife Hayes in there, little different field, but perfect person for those two to bounce off of
Man what an incredible discussion. I feel like Thor just lit a fire in Dropped Frames and everyone was here for it. Excited to catch up and watch the next one!
-I've been developing the feeling that Cohh should be reminded than when on a group talk show, he doesn't need to fill the air space.
100% this
Yeah...
I thought I was the only one who thought that. I like the guy. I guess he just got overly excited but it's definitely super noticeable
True, it won't work tho. As a fellow person with ADHD it's nearly impossible to shut up at the best of times 😅
He's great at keeping the stream rolling when he's solo, probably just hard to turn that habit off.
As someone who watched the whole episode on twitch, this was great! So much info and good banter around.
Idk if im just slightly socially awkward which is fine, but Thor explaining socail contructs helped me personally a lot. Thank you!
BTW, the Dave's Garage youtube channel has a cool short video that exactly explains how this update broke windows (and points out some glaring issues with the crowdstrike software)
4 good vibe streamers in one place makes my day!
Amazing guest! Even though I ended up with the feeling that I heard more of and about Cohh than the rest 3/4 of the people present.
JFC this was the greatest DF episode ever. Just putting that out there.
Tbh I prefer watching these on VOD since i cant cast twitch to my TV, popcorn is ready 🍿
I absolutely loved having Thor on. He should come on more often.
This is by far one of my fav Dropped Frames episode, so so good.
Crowdstike is security professionals fault also. They are the one who insisted you need kernel level access to keep things safe. This was ALWAYS going to happen.
ive been waiting for this colab for ages!
Man I have not watched JP since he dropped dnd, wish it hasn’t been so long. Really happy to see someone like Thor on dropped frames great content man
Prevented entire power plants with a hundred hospitals on their load from being hacked, thats a pretty huge service bub.
It's a hell of a lot more service than military members provide.
Thor: "So it's complicated, we don't know who's at fault"
Cohh: "But... Is it Microsoft?"
Thor: "We don't know, it's complicated"
Cohh: "But could it be microsoft?"
Thor: "We don't know"
Cohh: "...so it's microsoft?"
Like c'mon, dude
It's fine when Cohh interrupted Zeke a few times, it happens to anyone, but here it happened like 50 times!!
Poor Zeke just gave up close to the end. Anytime he tried to join in, Cohh shouted over him like he wasn't even there. Disrespectful af...
They are friends zeke knows cohh doesn't do it maliciously and its aware that if he needs to he can tell him to shut up
Yes cohh was overly excited this episode and zeke let his bro have a good time
I fully understand not enjoying it, but "poor zeke and disrespectful" is a bit much
@@a3-radio Idk, did you see his face when he got interrupted over and over?
Sometimes its hard to put a feet down for yourself, especially when youre in the middle of a live show and dont want to ruin the vibe and the discussion. It would be fine if Cohh would go "Sorry Zeke, I spoke over you, please, what did you want to say?" as JP does a lot of the times, because he knows the feeling of not being heard.
But hey, I might just be projecting.
@@The_MarTyNihit the nail on the head projecting
I've watched all DF episodes, but I must admit this one was really something special. The chemistry was there, the subjects were interesting (as always), Thor brought a more technical viewpoint and overall I just felt like you guys had a ton of fun, which always feels great from a viewer PoV :)
Please have him on again eventually!
Like many people have said, this was an amazing episode. I really enjoy the Rami episodes aaaand so having them both on one podcast episode somewhere.... That'd be awesome.
Genuinely think I could have listened to you 4 talking for 8 hours and still been interested. Good job
Best guest spot hands down!!
Just finished watching this stream. Great conversation with good info dump, thanks!
Man this intro RANDOMLY made me remember the Co-optional podcast with Total Biscuit intro. Rip Biscuit.
Also great episode!
I need a compilation of all the bits where Thor is drawing stuff while talking.
This was so good, so good, now I want to watch more dropped frames with Thor.
This interview really shows how much JP asks excellent questions, Thor has the best answers possible, Ezekiel knows when to sit back and let someone talk, and Cohh will not. Shut. Up...
One of the best guests Fr. Hopefully thor becomes a regular
really enjoyed this ep, as always; woild love to see Thor on the show again! he fits the theme of DF perfectly
@@QuentinPlant this too!! OR even give ‘em the big tub of Lego
I also used to wonder why someone would be brazen enough to post about pirate software. But his content kept popping up in my feeds AND they were always very wise, including how to block cheats. So I subscribed😂🎉
Great show overall, didn't know who Pirate Software was and he's SUPER interesting and an awesome guest! Love to see him on again. Was there some lag in the call? I noticed that Zeke especially kept getting cut off during this episode.
Best dropped frames in a loooong time - Awesome stuff ! :)
that was a great episode!!! ❤ see you all in Wraeclast exiles!
This might be the best episode ever! ❤
Best opening ever.
the collab i didn't think we all needed.
This episode is so fun thor is such a positive energy and made the boys more playful and eager
I'll never not love the 1 random frame of everyoen during the intro at 0:34-0:35
I came for Thor, and became a fan. Was an enjoyable experience so thank you for that!
Was gonna tune in for like 5 mins but ended watching whole stream.
Thor is such a reasonable and intelligent voice in the increasingly more technological world. Both in data security and gaming and honesty life in general. And now through him I found these guys
2:24:25 PIRATE SOFTWARE brings up the beginning of the 5th world and shadowrun.
@30:20 thankyou for your servers, more like.
What a cool episode, didnt knew this podcast, will listen to some other episodes tomorrow
Great episode. Rami S-tier level of guest in terms of interesting perspectives.
Best episode of the year.
Jack black, Gimli and grown up Peter Dinklage got Thor to join their podcast. What a n intriguing fellowship.
