- I was invited to the wonderful hill climb track in Prescott, Gloucestershire. The inaugural Prescott Historique Hill Climb event features a host of hill climb vehicles, dating from the pre-war Edwardian times to the 1980s!
Many thanks to Jack at TipTop Engineering (www.tiptopengineering.co.uk) for the ride, and to Allan Rhodes (www.allanrhodes.co.uk) for taking some awesome photos. And of course to the Association of Heritage Engineers for inviting me along!

Nice to see Sarah Crabtree
Great to see such an enthusiastic youngster hopefully more I’ll get into the amazing pre war cars
Dom - a Buggati vice would look good in your workshop 🙂
are you Dom....Yes from the repair shop ha ha really nice , you being so kind...
That was amazing Dom. It was so good to see a young man involved with old engines. He knew his onions !!!
So pleased that you and Dan had such a great day out - Ultimate day out for enthusiastic petrol heads 👌😊
I was last there in 2018 and it was amazing as always. In the museum was a life-size camping caravan made entirely out of Lego. I plan to do it again in 2023, greetings from Canada!
Have to agree, all that beautiful engineering and the bench and vice was without a doubt the best thing in the video 🤣
Another great video Dom.
As always first class. Never been but will now I’ve see this, thanks
You are having way too much fun Dom, brilliant
Need to go to that event next year
Careful Dom, Hillclimbs get addictive really quickly!
That Bugatti at 16:45 is perhaps the most beautiful car I've ever seen. Got here via a deep-dive on the Ranalah project (awesome BTW) and have been going through all your other vids. Absolutely great stuff.
The best Aero engine cars I seen are the Napier Bentley 24L W12, and Packard Bentley Mavis Awesome cars.
Another gem. There is a great clip on UA-cam (Curtiss OX5 Aero Engine) on the inner/outer working of the Curtiss V8.
....all that AND you got to meet Sarah Mathewson ! ! !
Great Dom that smile said it all 👍👨🏻🏭
How lucky that you had good weather. It looks like you had a great day all round. Thanks for bringing us along to see some of it. ; - )
Amazing!
Bloody awesome!
Flippin' Excellent
Great film, what an insparation!!
Tip Top!!
Amazing ride up the hill
Wonderful, Dom!
Love your videos and the range of topics. Thanks
Just brilliant
Basically a big old aeroplane engine with a wheel on each corner - bags of fun!
Nice to see you so excited Dom.👍👍
Great video Dom fascinating to see the hill climbe omg all them beautiful cars fantastic bunch of people and the Bugatti museum wow the bench and vice were stunning 👍👍
Great Video!🏁👍👍
What a fantastic experience. Thanks for sharing Dom 🌞
Fantastic exciting video. Engineering, history, and innovation. Lots to learn and lots to inspire.
Great day out and excellent video Dom.
Dom that was brilliant, made my day, thanks! your workshop vlogs are great but getting out and about seeing so many interesting people with so much skill is fantastic 😎
How cool is Jack. What an awesome day out !!! 😎👍
That was fun!
Looks like Fun ! Cheers from California
Great fun - some serious machinery on show!
Well done a great insight into Prescott and vehicles.👍🏼
Wicked! What a grin! You're a lucky man indeed. Thanks for taking us along.
A great day out and you pulled Dom!
I guess you're already in touch, but TipTop engineering do some great stuff. I don't know them personally, but have watched James Baxter drive his and other folks vintage cars, notably ERAs. .. He is something else.. He is currently restoring an ex museum piece ERA GP2... Look him up on FB, if you've not been there already. You could make his bodies on the Ranalah.. Terrific video, and I recommend any hill climb meeting for good cars, extraordinary engineering skills, and some blooming quick motoring.
Soo cool and they are brave
Great video. Looked like you had a great day out.
Hello Dom what an excellent day so many amazing cars well done.
Thanks for your video Dom, looks like you really enjoyed it,👍👍👍.
A great day out Dom, thank you for the video. Kind regards, Richard.
Hi Dom, What a fantastic day, Thanks for sharing it with us, All the best Brian 😃
How Cool was That.
Thanks 😊
Absolutely brilliant episode, thanks so much . I also fell in love with the Bugatti vice the instant I saw it.
This was a great episode, Dom. I'm so glad it's given you more determination to get on with that Porche project. Not that you needed any to be honest I'm sure. Your days out always turn into such an interesting adventure.
Welcome to the club. We used to run the local Scout troop to Prescott and we sold the programs at all the meetings. About thirty years ago they had an anniversary. The place was packed. My wife got to go up in the course car and I got a ride in an Alfa Romeo. Great times
What a lovely young lad, and from Gods county too, he has it all and seems to appreciate it.
Absolutely brilliant. Loved to watch the valve rockers very steam punk👍
What a great video that young man and his passion just made that video. Come on Dom get that Porsche up and running. Great work love the videos.
I've been to Prescott many times Dom; always a great day out. My brother-in-law used to compete there and I even took my old TVR Chimaera up there on an Experience Day. Lovely to see it again!
Great video, you could sense the excitement all the way down here. Look forward to seeing you in your Porsche there. Great to see Peter, the Ranalah man, again as well. I didnt realise the crane was also his.
Good luck from Spain!!
Outstanding! Just one thing though Mr C- before you embark on the project, for god's sake get a drive in a similar aero-engined car of the period, 'cos (as you no doubt know) with rear wheel brakes only, these things do not slow down well at all, it's vital to have a drive before you commit as an hour of discussion can't rival 10 minutes behind the wheel on an old airfield somewhere.
Not meaning to rain on your parade in any way, but it had to be said! Good luck!
What a brilliant day out, must speak to my son, he's a car freak like me. Once again Don love your enthusiasm for old engineering, it's important that we keep these skills alive.
You could almost smell the fumes. What a great day out 👍
Great video! That vice was amazing!?
Not quite sure how you pulled up next to a lovely Daimler dart and the mustang was pointed out!? Lol
Dom,
i've commented before, but I just have to say ,you again have shown us all, again, another benefit of keeping the "vintage" machinery alive. Watching your channel continually both entertains and educates, thank you for all of your effort. Your passion and excitement are there for all to see. It is great to see that there are young folks who are interested in more than video games and self indulgent pleasure. Love your videos, bloopers and all, it makes it real/ Keep it up and STAY SAFE.

I agree, the vice and the bench-legs were stunning! Hill climbing has got to be one of the best sorts of motor sport, with all the old vehicles two, three and four-wheeled, all able to compete. What a great day... you could get hooked on hill-climbing. So videos from all round the country perhaps? Loved it, Les
Dom, what a fantastic event, this is bare bones Motorsport at it's very best, Thanks for showing this mate, definitely one to watch out for in the future, got to get into the Bugatti museum now you've teased everyone, keep up the good work mate...👍
looks like you had one hell of great day Dom, now to finish the Porche 🤔👍
What better reason to finish it!
Awesome to see the sun’s out in the UK (it’s grey & cold here in NZ!) & you were happier than a kid in a lolly shop! What an inspiring 20yo business owner! All props to him! Thanks for sharing; my dream is to ride/drive a Veyron or Chiron! (At least dreams are free…).
What an amazing day. I have cycled up Prescott on an Italian hand built Concorde from the 1980's. I didn't know about the museum, I must give it a visit.
The desire of the piston technology is undoubtabley seductive but an electric conversion might be an alternative choice for maybe a second project, Its always good to have a few lined up. Theres a engineer-biker up Grimsby way with a Merlin engine he might let you put in a car. Great Driving Jack , and great knowledge of the car. Are the double dogs not tied at the back because a heavy impact would snap a ring so its better to have a sprung link you can snap back in. Great video.
Always great to see wonderful machines, and people enthusiastic about them... I am glad you encouraged people to explore that field when thinking about careers. Pretty good variety in your channel, but I do hope to see a little work on the Defender and the Porsche added to the mix now that your book is out ;)
It was great to see you there on a beautiful day in the Cotswolds Dom and have a brief chat. Great video, I saw your run, he wasn't letting off:-)
What a fantastic first Hill Climb experience! Prescott is a great venue, steeped in history and the Bugatti connection. Lovely car and wonderful to see Jack on his career path in an amazing industry. The ride looked a right thrill. I competed in the TVR Speed Championship for a couple of years in my Griffith (sadly now gone) and Prescott was one of the highlights of the year.
Maybe we'll see you compete yourself sometime...?
Dom, I can see another project starting
What a smashing young lad you talked to.
can't wait to see you in the hill climb next year Dom! I'll come over from the U.S.A. and serve on the pit crew for "Team Dom, my Car is Bomb"
Awesome video mate!
Thanks!
And a Spitfire flyover as well!!
Come to Jersey 🇯🇪 for the motoring festival. Awesome hill climbs and a vast array of different vehicles.
I’d forgotten the effect real cars have on me. I was getting light headed just watching the video. Had I been there, I’d have been totally overcome. When I am officially retired and settled, with current responsibilities out of the way, I shall rejuvenate my interest in cars, boats, trains, woodworking, architecture, design… Thanks Dom, this video was the kick in the pants I needed.
PS Just saw the Spitfire? fly over, icing on the cake. Cheers!
Great video. Will look forward to seeing you compete, 34.65 seconds is the hill record time to beat 😆
Dominic have you thought about popping over too Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb on 3rd July for the Vintage Meeting.
My guess is that if a suitable aero engine comes along soon, the Porsche will be sidelined. An aero racer is a exciting and your contact with a scrutineer is a big help while building it, to ensure compatibility with rules. Sell stuff and get a vintage racer. You know it makes sense. 😁
So that's an " aero-engine car body panel shaping on a Ranalah series booked then " ?
Exactly!!
Thank you.
Bugatti vice, lovely! I thought your beard might get blown off on that run!
Well, that was awesome! I love this kind of video so you can “crank” out more please. Some more footage of the cars on display wouldn’t have bothered me one bit either. Time to dive into that Porsche Dom…
We have a few features on cars from the day on our channel if they are of interest, a few more will be added over the next couple of days. There is also the full interview with Dom, Sarah Crabtree and Marc Allum.
@@HillClimbTV I'll check them out. Thanks!
If only you knew someone who had the tools to make really awesome body panels to go wrap around an Aero chassis... 😃👍🏻
You should come to the
Kop Hill Climb
The guy in the leather coat, is he one of the antique guys who do Flog It etc? Another great video Dom, thank you.
Great, I have seen and used many vices but I have never seen one, the Bugatti , with a grease nipple.
It was a beautiful vice!
Great video, car and young lad! Is that a Sherpa front axle?
Loved it all, except the music over the Sptifire flyover- I wanted to hear it! :)
There was no sound! Dom turned his mic off haha
@@dancross1968 that’s a shame! He must’ve still been rattled from that ride! 😉
Hey Dom, was that your aero engine flying past at the end, you wish!!!!!
Hey Dom, if you fancy a drive of something with a Bugatti badge on, get in touch.
i Can’t believe you played Outro music over the finest sounding engine EVER made 🤣
There was no sound on the video!
What was the last model in the museum
I’ve been lusting after a Bugatti vise for about 50 years.
Apparently somebody is remaking them!
Well Dom another great day out , must admit i wish had a wife like your mine would of divorced me years ago but guess not seeing the misses too much means no arguments for you . Good luck look forward to seeing more videos
Never mind the Bugatti, the ERA hardly got a mention.
