It's just been fascinating following this story from start to finish Dom. Thanks for all the hard work and sharing this with us - incredible !!
It is so lovely to see the progress, and the many people involved in making it happen
Hello Dom,
Sorry for being slow in watching this episode... a big CONGRATULATIONS on getting "No 1" complete... See you next time.
Take care.
Paul,,
Hi Paul!
Thanks so much
Coming along. Thanks for sharing. Be well.
Cream was the right choice 👍
Hi Dom, Bought your book and love it. As a 77 year old craftsman I have many vintage tools that I bought new. 🛠 😄
Don’t shy away from using a website address on the plaque; The wonderful thing about this project is the fact it brings an old tool back into use in the modern age.- you’ve made a working tool for a modern craftsman, not a museum piece! Using a website reflects this.
Wow! Watched all episodes from here at the other side of the sea and i’d still buy any merchandise haha what a tool !!
The Colours look like they are just meant to be..Good choice.
Dom , Beautiful ,just beautiful mate!
This is why you tube is so great! Finding awesome contact like blasted bare, spoke with Phil recently and what a great guy he is, real professional and gave me great advice. Cheer Dom
Looks great Dom!! Been following since the beginning..you should be very proud of what you have recreated!!
The overall shape of the Ranalah, with that graceful curved upper arm and sculpted base, looking ever so much like a decorative element from the Golden Gate bridge is nothing short of art. Also, I think that your choice of color was perfect for the lettering. Subtle but still present, it doesn't draw the eye away from that gorgeous shape. I was going to say that it's too bad tools like this aren't being made any more, then I remembered, Yes they are, now! Dom's doing it! Just excellent sir, simply excellent! Thanks for taking us all along for the ride!
There is no reason why the old and the new can't come together. Unless you have a showroom people will always go online to look at stuff and then maybe want to see one in the flesh. Lovely piece of work Dom
Great work Dom. The cream looks right to me. I really hope you make a commercial success of this. Awaiting the selling price with anticipation!
Well done, Dom. A lovely machine.
Cream was my first thought. It looks the business Dom
❤the cream. Well done, Dom!
Well done Dominic on the first complete ranalah colour looks understated and original. Your determination 👏
Phew! Caught up on the Ranalah & all - amazing & wonderful, fizzing with enthusiasm & verve - brilliant & inspirational! ✨✨✨
I’m just a DIY’er but if I’m painting from a cup (or small tin) I put the cup into a slightly bigger old bucket with a handle, and pack a rag round it to keep it secure. You’ve then got a handle to hold, easier to put down and pick up, less likely to knock over, and can stick your brush in the space between cup and bucket to free up a hand. Really enjoy the videos!
Just put on it "Ranalah Ltd. Essex. England". That would be in keeping with its age.
Hi Dom... I'm absolutely blown away by your commitment to this project, I have nothing admiration.. Can I just ask why you didn't go for the lazer treatment rather than shot blasting [as it looked very time consuming therefore probably expensive.. Just a thought mate! 🤔... But no matter.. The results are amazing... Well done sir! 👍😁
Good call with the lettering colour - very classy! My thought was a charcoal grey but the lighter lettering looks smashing :)
Great listening to an artist discussing his tools.
I would absolutely LOVE to get hold of a larger old Ranalah wheel machines. The school I went to in the UK, ( 55 years ago), had four that came from one of the WWII Spitfire factories. Although I doubt I could afford it. I think he means "purified air". Pure oxygen would kill you if you breathed for more than a short time resulting in shock lung. I also use a fresh air system. Nice compressor. I use an old 1956 LeRoi 4 over 4 tow behind compressor using 1" line at 175 psi. The gun is hand operated with a 'dead man' switch. Also can be used as a wert blaster. Any media from soda to steel shot.
Good choice on the lettering.
Thanks
Truly an amazing journey. Congrats!
Dom its been awesome watching the Ranalah take shape and helping to ensure our heritage of workmanship live into the future.
Been so interesting following the story of the English wheel - it should be on the discovery channel!
Boom! You’ve made it happen! I hope someone will do the same for other obsolete fine British machinery.
I’m not sure I can afford to do it all again for a while!
Well done Dom. Fascinating watching the two Ranalahs being ‘glass blasted’ and looking the better for it. The paint job is fine and so is the lettering.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
They're coming out well, they actually look brand new now!
I think it's OK to use the website on a plaque. This is a Ranalah for the 21st century after all. They look wonderful finished in the grey and the lettering's nicely "laid back" in the cream. I've really enjoyed this series, especially since I've an engineering background.
Thanks Dom.
The cream is a must, it's not a work of art (well it is) but it's a working machine and needs to reflect that. A website is a must. Most people when looking or researching for something will automatically look on line. I've enjoyed all your videos and saved the all of them. Well done Dom, have a great weekend 😎🍻
What a project. Very interesting series!
I think the wed URL an the plaque would look good. You've taken all the tradition and functions of the original but a web URL would let people know that you are taking the good things from the past and bringing them into the modern workplace.
Dom, What a masterful achievement.👍😁😎. I doubt that all, but a very few, can or will understand the significance of what a monumental accomplishment your success truly is. The final piece would be to see one of these residing in a shop where it would be doing the work it was created for. I have followed your journey on this from the beginning, and must say, it has been an enjoyable and educational experience.
The paint is spot on. Hope the camera can be helped with a little of your TLC. As always BE SAFE and all the best to you and yours.

Thank you so much for following along the journey with me, really appreciate the comment!
Excellent; and your choice of colour scheme really works Dom. Having watched all these absorbing episodes from the outset, seeing the finished article was quite emotional. Goodness knows how it felt for you!
Amazing Dom! You must be so proud, as viewers I know we all are. The finished Ranalah looks so good. Well done and congratulations!
Thanks so much!
The Ranalah's look fantastic, and have been done absolutely properly, with the R&D you have put into them. I'd like to see a chinese copy try to even come close to the way these machines will perform. The only thing is, I would've painted the lettering pillar box red, that way you would see it proudly announcing the Ranalah, from the far side of a large workshop, as you walked in the door, with the cream lettering, you have to be fairly close to it to read it, but persoal choice great job!
Fantastic job Dom. A lot of time and work went into this project, but what a great product you’ve ended up with.
Well done.
Thank you very much
The cream lettering on the grey background looks beautiful. Well done!
Thank you!
Been following the progress from the start they are looking fantastic hope they sell you should have asked to get the crane blasted to clean it up
Looks great Dom. Thank you for the ride...
Congratulations on completing the two beautifully magnificent machines. I hope the orders start pouring in. Thank you, take care and peace out.
Post office box address on it would be perfectly in keeping with the heritage and function... assuming you still have a post over there in the uk... !!! Lol :-)
Brilliant!
Awesome job dude 👏. And I want one of them blaster setups now 😍🤪
Much preferer the cream colour, good choice
I just wish I had a big enough work shop and I'd buy one, forget about using it, they just look fantastic, of course I would actually use it, it's just I don't have a justifiable reason other than it's so touchy feely.
I thought red but I think you made the right choice. Looks very smart.
Thank you!
When you get to blasting your Porsche have a look at hot zinc metal spraying. It's an excellent process for coating the undersides of vehicles with zinc so you get all the benefits of galvanizing but without having to dip anything. Something that the "retropowercars" channel (up in Hinckley) use on their restoration projects and it seems to virtually eliminate the possibility of future rust.
Fantastic result, great project.
What a great project.
Yes it's Sunday that means a new video!
It has been a fascinating process to follow, driven by your enthusiasm. Regarding the plaque, a nod to the past is definitely needed, perhaps the year it was invented, the inventor's name where they lived and as you are part of its history going forward, you need some recognition on the plaque too
So pleased you chose cream for the lettering, looks really classy. With the stands on the horizon and expanding the Ranulph brand, I thought you could do a special really nice wooden tool chest to hold the wheels and tools used to adjust or change them. How about specially made Ranulph spanners?
What an incredible passion project!
Hi Dom, Yes was the right choice of paint, looking forward to the next phase, stay safe, All the best Brian 😃
Your crane would look good with the same TLC ;-)
Thanks for posting.
Have fun 😎
The crane has had enough tlc haha! Thank you,
It looks beautiful with cream lettering
Glad you like it!
Wonderful video, just so amazingly interesting, thanks for all the effort you put into it, and Wendy is such a plus. Good luck with the rest of the project.
Dom, I fully understand your concerns about a website for the Ranalah appearing to be a little 'too modern', however, you could miss many golden opportunities and your efforts to bring the machine into the 21st Century could be compromised if you don't pander a little to the modern 'audience'. I'm sure that many engineers who would desire a Ranalah are also going to be internet users.
I totally agree about using a web address , it a good marketing strategy also I think it is a opportunity to put in print what personal goals are with this project etc.
If you put a normal postal address then it is possible that people will assume that you buying up and refurnishing old machines or even that it's a company making inferior copies.
A web address is modern but easy to remember and search for and takes them straight to all the correct information they will need to know.
History great but will not pay the bills!
Absolutely agree!
What about going old school - have a website, but just for ordering a period inspired paper brochure to buy? I'm sure there are loads of engineering diagrams and old photos to use.
Lovely job Dom. I would have been a voter for the red lettering but I have to say, I think you were right. The red may have been a bit 'in your face' so I reckon the Cream looks very classy. Well done mate, best of luck with th brand going forward - its been a great journey to follow, thanks.
Thank you, it’s definitely a bit more subtle
I was watching Ted the Coppersmith from The Restorers and he uses one of these to work on his sheet metal. It is nice to see them still in use!!
Looks great, very similar to the Ferguson Tractor grey.
It’s a bit lighter I think, close though!
I love this story! and yes I want one! Can't wait for the website and production....
I think the little plaque should be a small saying or words. To personalise your new chapter of Ranalah going forward. The brands mission statement. 'Mould your Imagination' 'Create your Incredible' 'History, Heritage, Hard Work' 'Create with Ranalah' or along those lines. Your personal touch. Exceptional work to get it all done.
Fantastic job Dom. That colour scheme looks great.
Love the colours, brilliant project, great video
Looks fantastic 👌. Excellent work in reviving the old make. 👏 😎
Cream is the best choice It looks great well done
Fabulous finished result Dom - looks like Wendy's had a super hair cut 🐶❤😊
The cream is classy, Dom. Looks great!
Please ignore the 'red brigade'(!) - red/grey is a clichéd, unsophisticated combination - you made the right choice....!
The website would work on the plaques even though it is a bit modern. You bringing them back is all part of the history now and it would be very fitting. Like when historic buildings get repaired and they don't try to make the new bits look old
What an extraordinary labour of love Dom. So impressed and delighted to see it finished (and I think you did the right thing with the cream! 😉)
Looks lovely Dom.👍👍
That is looking great, well done. 👍
Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic Dom! Enjoyed the full journey and sad that it’s come to an end.
Sundays won’t be quite the same now. Once again Congratulations and good luck going forward.
Don’t worry there is a lot more more ranalah progress to come!
Love your progress with the ranalah project, but really wanting you to get on with the 356!!
Very nice Dom! Enjoyed the tour of the sandblasting set-up - Phil has a colorful rig! Agree with brushing as well. The outcome looked great as did the color. You can't be anything but proud of your work Dom!
I am chuffed! Thanks so much
Great love it!
Looks very smart and classic looking with the cream lettering, good choice
Great stuff Dom, congratulations! As for the plaque address in the past I have used a P.O. Box address that works well. Plus you could always include the website address as a back up. I still think the lettering should be red!!!!!
Store your paint tins upside-down, they will last longer and are much easier to mix before use! All the best, Matthew
Absolutely stunning!!!!! I want one, never wheeled in my life yet, but always wanted to. I'll be interested to see your prices once you've totted them up.
Get down to Cornwall to spend a week with Geoff! You’ll love it
@@DominicChineas problem is I'd 'need' a wheeling machine after that!🤣🤣
I'm restoring (very slowly) a MKIII Triumph Spitfire that I'm going a bit café racer style on so I do need to make some new body panels, a wheeling course might be in order!
Lovely dog .Wow the new camera is way more HD What is it ? Looks superb finished great job .
Excellent stuff. Couldn't agree more on the brushing. By the time you set up the sprayer and then have to clean it afterwards, it's just easier to brush the paint on. Maybe if you had a hundred of them to do.... a sprayer would work better. A great project to watch come to life and I couldn't be more proud of what you've accomplished. It's a tremendous victory for English Heritage.
Now you need to get on the T.Norton fly press situation. And, yes, I'll keep mentioning it until you buy the whole lot and save it from being lost to England forever. 😁
Haha I think I’ve got my hands full with getting these ranalahs built!
@@DominicChineas No worries, we can wait til next week before you launch in to the T.Norton project. 😁
Congratulations on such a successful journey, just remembering you dragging that old one out of the scrub all those months ago.
Great choice of colour, the machine looks absolutely fantastic. Very well done.
Thank you very much, I am chuffed
Excellent shade Dom & i think the name stands out well so good with what you have achieved.
Take care. ps Cuddles to Wendy.
Looking great Dom, fascinating journey that you have shared with us all, I'm glad all of your efforts have finally come together and it's great to see it complete, you should be proud of what you've done, look forward to your next ranalah instalment
Thanks so much, there’s more to come!
Thank you for another great video Dom. Who knew that theres science behind Shot blasting 🤔. Love the colour choice. They look awesome. Congratulations !!
Loving your journey.
Great to see the finished project and well done for following it through, at some point it would be interesting to know roughly what a project like this costs, I would guess a lot of us watching might have had ideas about getting one off custom parts made for our workshop, would be interesting to know what some of the components cost for comparison for our projects.
Wonderful, love the colour choice. Hope you had a bit of Factor 50 on you too!!
Looks awesome Dom. Any idea on pricing yet or an idea of when you're going to be able to decide that? I realize a lot of factors are at play. I'm curious if they'd cost less than an original or more maybe.
Fantastic! Maybe the plaque could be Ranalah re-established dates, the made in county and the buyers name or business or something like?
I think the colour choice you did on the lettering is perfect it's subtle classical style. Looking forward to see what you expand the Ranalagh brand into. You could manufacture all things to do with panel work. Dollys, mallets, hammers, hand operated beading and cutting machinery, folding breaks if its made to the same style and high spec as the wheeling machines who wouldn't want to fill their shed/workshop with them.
I’d love to do that!
