What a bloody legend! You're absolutely right, Dom. Characters like Pete are what makes working in industry so much fun. The knowledge, the banter, the backup, the guidance. It's all there. Love what you do.

Absolutely Loved it!! The natter, banter whatever you want to call it. Pete you are a walking history book of Skills and knowledge that can't be put on paper (book). Its hands on, making mistakes and learning from it. I So wish more younger generation would pick up the baton and carry on. As for you Dom, loved the idea of intro these wonderful skilled people like yourself. If you can find the time to introduce more (Yeah I know the pain of editing the video etc) It just brings the Repair Shop closer to us public. Thank you for your time, consideration look forward to your next blog/vlog or whatever its called.

What an interesting chap Pete is! I'm sure a hour or so just listening to him just chatting would be fascinating.
I didn't see the pedal car episode when it was first transmitted but I waited eagerly to see it repeated as I had a deprived childhood and a pedal car was what I wanted most of all but never got. Deprived perhaps isn't the correct word as my childhood was filled with love and was very happy, apart from wanting a pedal car.

Lovely interview, I lived in Frimley and it was a short bus ride for a nipper to Aldershot where I used to spend time looking in the windows of Potters , it was like an art museum , the old military drums and accoutrements , beautiful. Great video 👍🇬🇧

I laughed out loud at the story of the careers officer. In 1967 when I told them I wanted to be an Undertaker, I was sent to the Headmaster. Four years 2 years late I was doing a funeral three doors from their office he came out. I smiled to myself

They may not show all the work; but they do an excellent job with showing the humanity, the roots of how & why restorers & repairers do what they do.
As a former leather repairer, former repair tech, & hobby maker I notice the sheer amount of work getting skipped. But they get the why right.

Fabulous video. I love Pete and what a story. My dad was a military man and spoke very highly of Potters. He was a Drum Major in the 60's and Potters made a small replica regimental side drum, which I still have, handpainted etc. It is a cigerette lighter. Anyway it was presented to my Dad, when he left that rank, by his drummers. He had a lot to do with Potters he was always ordering something when he was in the forces. The only thing he didn't manage to get hold of before he passed was a drum majors hand book and I am trying to find one myself to go with his military memorabilia.
But listening to Pete was awesome, I watch your UA-cam channel every week and love it so much. Thank you for the work you all do and keep this channel going its good therapy 😊 xx

Brilliant vlog Dom. Loved the interview with Pete. I have a similar background as I was a musical instrument maker too, I had the same sort of thing as Pete did, I told the careers service person in my interview that I wanted to become a church organ builder and mentioned the company who tuned my local parish church organ and he got me an interview with them, and on September 17 th 1970 I became an apprentice organ builder! I too got fed up with that after 7 years and went on to do many other things including becoming a woodwork and metalwork teacher! Looking forward to the next crane episode!

I did watch the latest episode of The Repair Shop and I was bitterly disappointed. I had really been looking forward to seeing the restoration of the J40, having seen it in the introductions to the programmes, but such a small amount of time was given to your work on the car I felt cheated. The producers of the show are, obviously, trying to pack too much in, so the content showing the actual work being carried out - which is what interests me - is reduced to a very small amount.
I am now looking forward to continuation of your work on the workshop crane, which is much more interesting. I know that you want to get it operational as quickly as possible, but I do hope that you will do a full restoration in due course and show it on your UA-cam channel. I think that the venerable machine deserves it.
After many years, I have finally got my Myford Super 7 operational and hope to make progress on a number of projects that have been waiting for a decent sized lathe.
    Best wishes.
