      @@crowofcrius Agreed, but what you said at the end couldn't be more true. We have way too many crack heads but on the contrary most of the people in my "circles" (contacts) are sometimes, if they feel like it, down to earth. For me coming from Finnish culture it is hard to understand why some people take silence for a sign of low intellect. Often, but not always, the people who are the loudest give negative appearance, since they don't have anything actually intellectual or worthwhile to say.
      Btw disclaimer, even though I speak as a Finn, I might be wrong or have wrong picture of what most of us think.

      @@ok-sj7bx odd. I'm an American. Maybe my religious background have me a different perspective, but I've never found those who speak first or loudest to come off as intelligent. Being reserved, slow to anger, & willing to listen have always been markers of a smart lad.

    I'm a finn, I've never heard a actually good way to explain Sisu in english until recently. Sisu means that you are willing to do, what you have to do. Without any consideration of you own safety, or well being. And knowing that you propably won't get any thanks for it. You just do it.

    • @iamsupersammie

      Thank you for that explanaiton. Really interesting! :)
      I am into military history and so of course I know the finnish exploits during the time of WW2. Sisu is another piece of the puzzle to answer the "How in the world did they do that?"-question. Nothing compares to what you guys did back then. Everybody outside Finnland who looks at your military history asks himself that, I would think. ^^
      Greetings from Germany

    • @Pyllymysli
      @Pyllymysli 4 роки тому +47

      @@thomaskositzki9424 Its a unbeliavable achievement but tbh a lot of that is thanks to Stalin. Also without German weapons it would have been a blowout. I know that being allied to Germany during ww2 sounds sketchy at best but one should not forget that finns were being invaded by motherfucking russia and had no weapons as every allied country, while they condemned the soviet aggression, they offered jack shit in actual help. We got some french MG's that were so bad that France just wanted to get rid of them and some British tanks and airplanes that had been collecting dust after WW1 and definetly weren't up to the task defending against Soviet armor and airforce. Anycase, it's a very interesting conflict during WW2 in europe.
      Did you know that finland is the only known country to actually pay their war reprisals in full? The last train left to Soviet union sometime in 80's if my memory serves me right. The massive war tax that soviet union demanded from finland is a corner stone of Finlands industrialization and booming hi-tech industry. So.... Thanks?....
      I'm a history buff also and quite well versed in finnish military exploits durin 1930's and early 40's so if you are interested I'd be happy to answer any and all questions that I'm able.

      Finnish/British dual national here. The best translation I've found for Sisu is 'grit'. It's that gritty determination or courage in the face of extreme adversity. The Finns in the Winter War is the obvious example, but English speakers might think of the Blitz spirit in 1940s London. I would say that Samwise Gamgee showed true sisu in Lord of the Rings on several occasions, not least when he carried Frodo up the mountain.

      As a finn I'd say that My summer car is quite an accurate depiction of how life was like in the late 1990's to early 2000's, in the Finnish countryside, which usually means 3 or more miles away from the nearest city center. Things generally haven't changed that much, but it's getting harder to find cheap old cars these days. A Datsun 100A, the car the in game car is based on, goes for around 3000€ if you want a running and driving one. Cars like Volvo Amazons and VW beetles, like seen in the clip as folk racing cars, have also become collector cars and they are by no means as cheap as they were back when this was shot.

      Excuses are for losers, and I won't justify that he wasn't able to overtake Petrov in spite of there were other reasons. Nevertheless, he performed some miracles to be in position to fight for the championship in 2010 and 2012. Since Prost (and maybe Raikkonen, Rosberg had the same car as his main rival which it's a great feature as well), any pilot has won the title if they weren't driving the best car, but ALO has been the closest to that achievement. Ferrari hasn't had the best car since Schumi's time, so I don't know what car are you talking about.
      I don't like especially MSC; in spite of I admire cunning people, he sometimes crossed the line and played dirty and complained too much. Furthermore, Hakkinen and ALO showed that he wasn't able to win the title if he wasn't in the best car.
      Team orders? What driver fighting for the title may say that he hasn't taken advantage of them?Maybe HAM when he retrieved a position to Bottas (which Bottas had previously given to HAM). Btw, there's no evidence that ALO knew anything about Briatore's plan on Singapore.
