Come to think of it. Those meteors do look like wrapped up aluminum foil balls. Great pounding sound effects on the hull. Will was thinking, "Aw Mom, I missed out on the meteor storm being in that freezing tube".
Makes you wonder why the view port collision screens did not engage when the J-2 was being bombarded by all those meteors. Maureen closed the lower deck view port screens in "Island In The Sky" The 1st time the upper deck view port screen were used was "Commended Of Space"
At 2:50 when Smith is lowering Don from the freezing tube to the floor, watch how Mark Goddard bends his left elbow and then straightens it again even though he's supposedly frozen. Looks like his arm came into contact with Harris's leg and he had to find a way around it, frozen or not!
Two Big Bloopers in the Meteor Scene. 1st one, June Lockhart is watching Jonathan Harris, and Mark Goddard perform the stunt, as Mark falls out of the Freezing Tube, and Two. Mark bending his Elbow, and placing his Arm behind Jonathan's Upper Thigh. Mark could have left his Arm straight, making it look more realistic of being frozen. And June, You're Busted!!🤣🤣 Hope you can add the clip of The Robinson Family entering the Freezing Tubes, and all the way up to the moment of Liftoff. Dr. Smith's 1st Scream of the show, but it was a serious Scream. Not the comedic Screaming he does as the show went on.
Smith's added weight may have sent them into the path of a meteor shower, but it saved them from being destroyed later by an uncharted asteroid, as revealed in Season 2's Time Merchant episode.
I was 5 years old when LIS premiered in September 1965. I was hooked in the first ten minutes of the first episode. Still get a kick out of the show.
I was 3.
I was 8 -- and was a devoted fan for the next three seasons.
I saw it at 14 1/2, in re-runs, and still love it today, especially the Robot!
I was seven and I agree!
The best sci-fi television series ever.
This first episode is the best episode. I always enjoy watching it over again.
Best show, ever!
Most exciting program on TV at the time, especially when you're young.
And as a teenager and adult!
Wow! Love this series "Lost in Space" is a cult 60's

They are, Will said in an interview that the whole cast participated and it was a lot of fun - knowing Irwin Allen it was Great Value foil.
So well done!
amazingly tough space ship Meteors did not even break a window
Yes, the J2 would've been destroyed. Kurt as when 2 vehicles from opposite directions collide, the impact is double then striking a non moving object.
That was one Tough Ship!!!!

The Jupiter 2 is the BEST spaceship set. I do not think it was matched until DS9.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Space: 1999 Eagle in 1975.
4:05 Hull-damaging meteors brought to you by maximum strength Reynolds Wrap!
The same stuff their space suits are made of.
Well done.

The Meteor affect was done by turning the J-2 model vertically and dropping Balls of Tin Foil on it...simple to do and very affective...
I like the Robot(once it became human) in the original series!
Thanks for watching!!! Be sure to 👍🏻 and subscribe to Lost in Space Collectibles thank you!!! 😊😊😊
