I very much enjoyed part 2 of the reappraisal of “85” with David. Hope you do some more album revisits with David. But not to replace your BB album reviews of course!! 😂😅👍🏻
Hey guys...thanks for doing these videos. The '85 album has always been one of my favorite Beach Boys album for many reasons. First, I think it was a fork in the road and they were headed down the right one with this album (and subsequently veered off of that path imo.) Secondly, I became a fan around 1982 so this was the first Beach Boys album I remember coming out and having a hit single on the radio... so...lots of good memories tied to this album. Anyway, because of this interview, I bought the ESQ part 1 of this...but now unfortunately the 2nd part is sold out lol. However, I went ahead and finally subscribed to ESQ just based off of that one issue. Thanks guys!
Great interview guys. I was hoping you guys would catch the subtle similarities between the harmonic intros and bridge of "Crack at your Love" and the intro of "All this is That". Listen. 🎶🎵
Thank you so much for sharing your memories and impressions. It makes me relisten to the album with a whole new point of view cause I did not like it thaaat much when I heard it for the very first time (especially due to the drum machines, but hey, everybody did this in 85 and 86) and the fact that I only knew the CD version before and now my just recently found still sealed UK 1st Pressing Vinyl is not sealed anymore now (!) and I like the album much more than I did before. ❤
Good chat, as always! I LOVE Male Ego! 🙂I also love Getcha Back but I prefer David Marks singing it from the 2012 concert CD (It sounds like the least autotuned and natural track on the whole double CD!)
Nice to know you guys appreciate this album and 80s BBs gor that matter. I dont see it get a lot of love in discussion groups. I love everything Carl did, and this album has his stamp all over it.
Im wondering why they don't do a remix of this and future box sets? The Beatles remixes have really opened the albums up. Steve Levine could come in remix the 85 album and use todays tech. Love these interviews on the 85 album.
Great conversation, thank you very much ✌️
Thank you both for this great interview. Keeping me entertained at work.
Thanks for tuning in, Gabriel
So much love and respect for David Beard.
I could listen to him talk about The Beach Boys all day long. :)
My regret is that I only have one thumbs up to give. Thank you for this.

I was 25y.o. in 85. That summer 3 cuts got airplay. Also 2 big July 4th shows also Live Aid performance 😊
I was 18 and a senior in High School. So to hear them back on the radio was amazing
Al sounds like Robert Plant. Now you'll never un-hear it!!

You really make this - for me - rather forgettable BB album enjoyable just but listening to you talk about it with so much enthusiasm.

I would give the overall album a 6 at best ... Getcha Back and Its gettin' late are 2 songs I enjoy listening to.
