      No problem! I've been on both the receiving and delivery end and yeah. It can be pulled off but it has to be done flawlessly AND account for the armor. There are many simpler and safer ways to do it that are just as effective. once we get back into the swing of things I'll get more stuff popped out.

    hugely informative. I was chuckling to myself that you were just holding that redonkulous lookin sword just to show off your redonkulous sword but then when you started using it to demonstrate things I realised why. I woulda loved to see a good old 2v2 tear up at the end of the video aswell... I'm also thinking Logan could probably clean a guy out in one chop with that thing! I found it really interesting about the differences in risk in techniques with and without armour because after watching alot of the sport I kept thinking, surely some Judo master who's built like Brock Lesnar would just rip a ravine of carnage through a team. I certainly learned alot and appreciate more subtle nuances of the sport. Your all nutters by the way. I'd love to see 2 NHL teams from the 90's go at it in full platemail...

      Im so glad to hear it!!! If you can get the hip/butt under theirs and do a legit hip toss you can sometimes pull it off. But with armor it slides sometimes and fucks it up. I actually have a video of me doing it to a guy and it fucked my left knee up really bad and we.didnt go sideways or anything, just the combined weight on armor all on one leg sucked ass. Most people in the sport even veterans have no clue how to perform a hip toss out of armor much less in armor which is what makes it so dangerous.

    I been watching vids for like 6 months now and i have a buddy who let me wear his gear. Im a pretty athletic guy lift 100lbs all day and did two tours in the Army. Cant understate the stamina aspect. It reminds me of being in Full kit in the army carrying a 249 except you have to move faster, swing weapons and have the claustraphobic affect of the helm retricting oxegen intake. I only played around with it for about 10 minutes but i went as hard as i could. I was shit whipped and sore the next day. So will i be searching for armour probably not but its definetly become one of my favorite sports. Guess all the years i spent working renn fair as a teen stuck with me.

    This is the style of competition where you are out when you get thrown to the ground right? I’ve always wondered about this style because I watch people get hit in the back or around the neck area where in real life that would be more likely a kill. so is the point of using the weapons to tire people out so you can throw them or knock them over easier?

    • @vordermark89
      @vordermark89 2 роки тому

      Anything around the base of the neck is illegal in every league as far as I'm aware. Especially in ours. If you see those shots it's usually an accident in our videos, probably a new fighter or the target moved. In other leagues it's usually intentional and they are just lazy about enforcing it. If you are good with a weapon you can make people submit through pain.

    I think most of the poeple trying grappling moves in armor did not in fact come from a BJJ background. I saw a guy on some vid somewhere that was a black belt (I think) who put on armor and his immediate reaction was "no, get this off me, im helpless in this" He knew immediatly that none of his BJJ was going to do him any good in this and he felt valnurable as fuck. If a person with a plate chest on the back is pulled backwards with a two-handed weapon or is choked, the spine may be subjected to a point load at one point, the neck protector/rim of the plate chest, which could actually cause the vertebrae to dislocate (neck fracture). To me it seem that isn't really taken into account in the usual armored wrestling actions at the side fences. I guess that's the case until these days because nothing really serious has happened yet. But I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before the first wheelchair user will appear in the outcome of this potential issue. --- Aside from the fact that this armored wrestling isn't very "pretty" to look at, I personally think that's the only really potentially dangerous aspect of Buhurt, especially if while the neck is bent backwards, a third person jumps into such wrestling situation. That might do the worst outcome take place within a single second. Accordingly, I hope that in the future this helmet / neck bending will simply be prohibited by rules! But that is just my 2 cents ...

      Maybe they will but I doubt It. Nobody follows their own leagues rules anyway. And they change the rules every year. Can't make up their minds between safety and historical accuracy. It's just stupid. But at the end of the day you sign a death waiver. You know the risks you're taking.

    I get following rules and being safe and all that… but isn’t the point to hurt the opponent to the point they give up or are incapacitated? Idk I think in general the rules need to allow for theoretical deaths or incapacitations so that it better reflects the reality of armored combat. I feel like buhurt devolves into wrestling more often than not. I’m not well versed in the rules, but I feel like taking repeated strikes to a bladed weapon should have some kind of penalty. Like in other combat sports when you aren’t protecting yourself. I feel like taking one or two solid or weak head strikes is fine, but a ref should consider you dead if you take a hard axe strike to the dome or shoulder? Idk though if that would be too complicated and give the ref too much power. But I wish there was a way to make it more accurate to if the weapons were sharp, like how unarmored combat does it, just adjust the rules for the consideration of being able to survive a lot more. Again I’m not an expert by any means, and maybe there is a version of armored combat that has rules like this.

    • @vordermark89
      @vordermark89 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah no lol. The rules are based off of old school tournament rules used as a method of training, morale, and preparation for war. We aren't trying to kill each other merely competing for sport. That's why the armored is thicker and heavier than traditional armor.
