  • The DC Graveyard trundles along with what some might consider a surprising entry. Constantine 2005 has developed somewhat of a cult following over the years with many hoping that Keanu Reeves would return to the role. However it didn't do well enough to warrant any kind of follow up despite being a pretty solid supernatural superhero horror affair. Thanks for watching!

True that they both don’t look anything like their characters, but a major plot point or value to the character of Jack reacher is the fact that he’s a 6 foot 6 mountain of a man and intimidates everyone he comes across. We are all very aware that Tom Cruise is Borderline a legal midget. So that honestly ruined that movie for me. The new series is much better than those movies. So whereas I’m not arguing with your point that they are both very different looking. I would say the Jack reacher Tom Cruise casting is much more egregious

I never understood the need to be 100% comicbook accurate, or original medium accurate. If the performance, and story is good enough, and you were entertained, i feel the interpretation of the IP has done it's job. Having a thing, is better than not having a thing. Also, Keanu is the reason I learned about Constantine, so to me, he's the baseline of what that character should be. Same with batman, Keaton was the first time I saw a batman, and I've judged every batman from the lense. In writing this lmao I realize why said accuracy is so important to some people, as that may be their initial intro to the character. Carry on folks, I just wasted yours, and my time. Toodles

The spear of destiny props in Constantine and hellboy aren’t the same prop, sure they’re similar but not identical. And it’s important to note that the spear is a real life relic that has been photographed and drawn extensively so it’s no coincidence that two prop designers would create similar pieces.

My babymother and I watched this at the cinema, it was the last time we went together and she was just a couple of weeks away from the date of the birth of our first child. In the final sequence of the film where it's all going on, she said she felt sick because our daughter must have been startled/excited at the loud booms and what have you from the speakers. She placed my hand on her belly and indeed I could feel our daughter squirming about, it felt gross, if I had been lucky enough to have been carrying our daughter I would have wanted to leave the cinema immediately, but my partner (at the time) is made of sterner stuff than I.
....Our daughter is turning seventeen this year, is in college, dresses like a victorian lady in mourning, makes me howl with laughter, swears like a docker with a sore arse and is, all maternal fondness and love aside, a pretty intelligent and thoughtful young lady, loyal to her friends and a treasure to her family.
It's a pity her other mom is an absolute cow, but you can't have everything can you?

I kinda feel like, with the exception of it being rather different in many ways from source material, it mostly just suffers from the “Nickelback Effect”: where it has a fair enough amount of flaws to make people give it more hate than it really deserves, then it gets popular to hate it, and eventually the hate for said thing becomes its own living breathing organism and either as popular as if not more popular than the thing people are hating.
This movie was always one of my guilty pleasures growing up. Still is. Except anymore, honestly, I feel like it’s not half as bad as people made it out to be when I was younger. I watch it now and it still holds up exceptionally well. It’s so cool and built in its own world, and done so uniquely while feeling like Constantine, just an alternate Americanized version. With black hair. I dunno. I really loved it, still do, and it’s honestly one of my favorite Keanu roles, period.

Reeves was essentially perfect casting outside of appearance/accent. Having said that, I would have loved to see a John Cusack version, him channeling his 1408 performance perhaps as a tired cynic. The same disdain for the paranormal and holy, only unable to deny it.
