Can you tell about possible crusade of 1622? That after Cossacks and Poles defeated Ottomans at Hotyn, French nobleman, Grandma of whom was from Palaelogos dynasty, organised "Order of Christian militia" with goal of restoring Byzantine empire under his rule.
Only thing that stopped him is 30 years war, when France confiscated his fleet, and death of Peter Konashevych, Cossack leader.
@@anteriax5175 true enough
This feels like a writer's attempt to create the most epic and convulated war narrative, only to end in a plot twist with the Ottomans winning. I love it
or one where Ottoman civilians rise up like the French and thus the Ottomans get a French revolution and resulting enlightenment era before Robespierre was born. Imagine Ataturk in the 15th century without the baggage of colonialism that led him to reforms which led to backlash from more orthodox Muslims.
DAMN I KNEW IT WAS A BAD IDEA TO LOOK DOWN AT THE COMMENT SECTION I DONT BLAME YOU BUT CRAAAAAP

Got to leave a cliffhanger for a sequel
Not even a plot twist, it’s a deus ex machina. Imagine the ending of Breaking Bad but Walt just keels over and dies in the cabin. That’s it, that’s the end. Everyone goes home and nothing is resolved.
Cody is making a show? Amazing! I can’t wait to see more!

A part 2 would be so interesting and captivating.
I would love to know what would happen next in this what if.

The Balkan wars would be fun to talk about in this AU
As a Pole it's weird seeing Władysław Warneńczyk having a role in AltHistory. Especialy since his younge Brother Kazimierz Jaggielończyk is seen as more active and competent then his brother as he focused on finnaly getting rid of Teutonic Problem.
every where I go homestuck finds me
I have to disagree. Kazimierz is more important for his domestic policy, than winning a war that was impossible to lose. One has to remember that the Thirteen Years' War was very much a sequel to the Great War (1409-1411). That war broke the Order, it was bankrupt, with massive manpower shortage, and ravaged contryside. Over the coming years succesive conflicts and diplomatic manoeuvring, while not accomplishing all of Polish goals, allowed Jagiełło to take back virtually all concessions that he made to the Order in Peace of Thorn.
On the other hand, the Order had to raise taxes, which led to resistance from the burghers. That would become the sign of things to come, as Prussian cities started to organise themselves in a leauge, aimed at curtailing the power of the Order. In fact, the Thirteen Years' War begin as a civil war in the State of the Teutonic Order. Poland-Lithuania only intervened when Prussian cities petitioned the Crown for incorporation, and provided massive monetary support for the war effort. They would come out as winners of the conflict, gaining not only autonomy under Polish rule, but aslo becoming only citites in Poland to elect representatives to Sejm, a sign of their importance.
The poor shape of the Order can be summaried in the "fall" of Malbork. The biggest castle in the world, unconquered throughout the Polish-Teutonic wars, finally came into Polish hands, because the mercenaries were given the castle in lieu of payment and, after negotiations, agreed to sell the castle to the Poles, for money which was given to the Crown as a loan by burghers of Gdańsk for war effort.
Casimir IV Jagiellon ruled Poland for 45 years, while he was extremely successful administrator just by sheer length of his rule he would have bigger impact on Poland and Lithuania. While Władysław III ruler Poland only for 10 year (while he was Supreme Duke of Lithuania, the effective rule of Lithuania was given to Casimir), he become King of Poland as 10 year old child (so in the beginning he has not have such active role) and aged 16, when he would usually real start to use his powers, he was elected king of Hungary (and also Bohemia, but Bohemia was in civil war) and spend rest of his short life outside of Poland, either trying to secure Bohemian crown or fighting the Ottomans. If Władysław III would win the Battle for Warna, and manage to create stable union of Poland, Lithuania, Bohemia, Hungary and Croatia, he would probably one of the most impactful kings in European history. He had all the pieces to create an European hegemon (assuming he would secure succession in all 5 states, even if the Union would be loose, but one supreme monarch responsible for the foreign affairs would be enough to create almost untouchable block; and winning a Crusade would give Władysław all the glory and prestige to pull if through).
@@Hadar1991 Oh, I don't disagree, just point out, that regardless of who would be the King, that war would be a victory. The difference between Kazimierz and Władysław would come to how they would carry out their respective domestic and foreign policies.
@@mateuszchoda5560 Actually Casimir tried to rebuild his brother empire with dynastic policy and I don't think they would differe very much in terms of policies. But Casimir seems more levelheaded than Władysław (although those were the times where the prestige and glory of the rulers was extremely important and if Władysław would win his the crusade he could probably force more reforms with his prestige alone than Casimir ever could with his levelheadness)

@@DualArrow88 👍🏻
Wasn't Timur Ruling in Persia? How would he ever conquer China? There's a vast desert and a buttload of mountains in the way! Governing China from persia, let alone get a single army over, would be next to impossible, if not completely impossible!
@@wires-sl7gs Genghis Khan was able to do so a century or so back. It's not realistic, but it's interesting nonetheless.
Conversely the very same mountains and deserts make it hard for China to send troop to defend their west front
Footnote: The Hungarians and their allies quickly returned to the crusade after meeting all of the treaty's short-term stipulations. An army mostly consisting of regular Hungarian soldiers as well as men from Poland and Transylvania was assembled by King Władysław.
In the Nicopolis region, 4,000 Wallachians joined the 16,000-strong united army.
The two armies engaged in combat in the Battle of Varna on November 10, 1444, close to the Bulgarian Black Sea citadel of Varna.

Possible idea for a what if scenario: what if there was gold on the east coast of North America?
What I learned in my US History class was that Europeans originally came to North America for gold but they didn't find any, but what if there was?
The Spanish would have fought the English much harder to hold onto the area than they did.
interesting
The United States would be more like Latin America, as early discovery of gold would allow the colonial elites to disregard the desires of their colonial subjects
@@alehaim Sounds like a terrible time.
There actually was gold found on the Eastern Seaboard, but not until the early 1800s, and it was somewhat inland.

He's doing a vote for what video should get a part 2 rn.
2:50 that "For thr Republic" and "For the Empire" gave me some OG Battlefront 2 flashbacks. Feels like im back in the 501st
One Immediate effect I can imagine is that the Church is United, under Rome.
Though I am 30 seconds in. I expect that it’s mentioned. Thanks for Atlantropa Articles Cody. Keep it up 👍
But maybe some Orthodox Patriarchs wouldn't accept the authority of Rome, creating many new autonomous churches (e.g. the church of Moscow, the church of Kyiv)

Pleeeease go for the part two. I can't even imagine how fun would the continuation be!! great work as always
This is the classic alternate history hub I remember! Lets go part 2! 🙏🏻
Oh gosh, I’m so hyped. Not only one of my favorite time periods being talked about in this video, but an actual series being made too? I’m so happy Cody, this is great! I’m looking forward to a part two and to Altremer!!!
Altremer is such a hype name
I’m very exited to see an alternate history show, especially on such an interesting topic.
Part 2 sounds great to me, love you work :)
As a Bulgarian i would love if this scenario had happened in real life :) Some of the descendants of the last czars of Bulgaria had taken part in the 1444 crusade so if it was successful Bulgarian state could be restored. Part 2 sure will be interesting. If some of the Byzantine successor states like Trabizon and Morea continue to exist past the mid 15 century this will also have interesting consequences. Keep up the good work Cody! Greetings from Bulgaria!
Yeah but john hunyadi had already been promised the throne of Bulgaria

This is great! Would love to see this turned into a series, since this is my favorite period of history.
Actually, someone should make an EU4 mod with the scenario at the end of the video
I know that your more known for your what if history vids but I’m really liking these non speculative history videos. Keep ‘em coming 👍👍
A great introduction to the history of the region at the time, the crusade and the "what if". Thank you!

Looking forward to seeing a sequel to this, so many ways it can go and so many ripples in history.
Until 1569 th Lublin Union I wouldn’t consider Poland and Lithuania the same state. Heck until 1430 the ruler of Lithuania was different from Polish king (he was king’s cousin and officially a vassal acting as king’s regent in the Grand Duchy, since personal union did exist) until his death in 1430.
And even after Lublin the GDL was as separate as Scotland inside the UK, hell, Lithuania had even more autonomy than modern day Scotland.

What a fun and exciting video you made, Cody. I didn't know you made a show, and I can't wait to see it when it is released on December 8th. Excellent video. Waiting for part 2.....
Looks like your maps got an upgrade, great work on the video, although you might have have used the wrong picture of Elizabeth (I think you're referring to Elizabeth of Luxembourg, daughter of king Sigismund and wife of Albert, who gave birth the the king that succeeded Wladyslaw, Ladislaus the Posthumous, but the image is that of her daughter Elizabeth, who married Wladyslaw's brother Casimir Jagiellon), can't wait for a Part 2 with all these gigachads of Hunyadi, Stephen, Constantine, Skanderbeg, and Vlad duking it out for the Balkans

Right on another video from Cody of the Alternate History Hub
It’s often something I’ve noticed about medieval nobility especially Frankish nobility. They were often too brave and chivalrous, to a fault would be a fair way to describe their actions. Brave to a fault. All to often fighting when it’s was suicidal. Władysław III was the last in a long line of failed knightly charges (though not a frank).
Off the top of my head
Battle of Harran (1104)
Siege of Damascus (1148)
Battle of Hattin (1187)
Battle of Mansurah (1221)
All examples of battle that could have been victories but advice was ignored and they fought when they should have held their ground or withdrawn. Instead they charged and were all defeated. But that’s why we love knights. Brave to a fault. They needed a strong leader to stop them doing something stupid. Like King Richard I at the battle of Arsuf (1191).
The problem starts, when your king is more of a knight than any other present and wants to risk his life that way.
While you are doing medieval scenarios, I was wondering if I could suggest a scenario where the Angevin Empire never lost Normandy (i.e If Richard the Lionheart lived longer or one of his two older brothers (Henry or Geoffrey) became king).
I was just going down a rabbit hole about this
So good shit cody

Part II please.
I hope the narratives are tight on the show, and I belive you can pull it off
Yes PLEASE part 2 I’m so excited
I'd be interested in a part two and beyond, this scenario sounds interesting.
For an alternate history idea, how about a scenario where another member of the genus Homo (Neanderthal, Denisovans, Erectus, etc) had been the first people to "discover"/colonize Australia and/or The Americas?
I mean, how do we know they didn't? Homo Floresiensis is a great example of a near-human relitive that branched off and made it quite far from Africa with little sign of any of the intermediates who must have existed across both space and time, and then died out without much trace.
Plus, if you believe in bigfoot/sasquatch(I highly recommend Dr. Jeff Meldrum's work on the subject), then not only did an extremely early branch on the tree manage to migrate all the way over here, but still lives here in the more remote and wild places.
Though, maybe sasquatch is a bit to far removed from modern man(they don't seem to use tools beyond throwing rocks, and definitely don't use fire) to fit what you're asking for.
Please don't add mouths to the characters, it looks very cursed
Part 2? Let's F-ing GOOOOOOO!!!!
