I used your reviews to enhance and teach myself english as well as my son's and daughter's.
Been enjoying every second since Gametrailers. A very respectable and commandable: "Thank you guys."
Much Love ...
Incredibly hyped for this game. HLD was one of my all-time favorites!
5:21 love this edit when he says “pink grass and green skies” ontop of a clip of green grass and pink skies lol. Always love this
That's the point. It's a video.
@@pintergabor5404 I think you overlooked that the video is the exact opposite of the spoken description, lol.
I didn't realize this was coming out already! Nice review.
So glad they got Rich Vreeland / Disasterpeace back for the soundtrack. His work on HLD was amazing.
Looks like jet set radio meets Mario galaxy meets breath of the wild meets shadow of the colossus!! Looks amazing!!
3:58 "You have to do a bit of Cosmic Acupuncture: targeting a series of nerve endings in order to open an eyeball, stabbing it to clear the gunk away."
I... I don't think that's how Acupuncture usually works😅
Well, obviously not _terrestrial_ acupuncture, hence why they remarked that it's _cosmic_ acupuncture. xP
Does the game always sound that muffled or was that a capture thing
so excited for this one! Hyper Light Drifter is my absolute favorite game, and it was the Allies' review that introduced me to it. Love & Respect!
Super excited to play this one! Nice review Blood!
Bloodworth, what held this game back from being an 9 or even a 8.5 in your opinion? The review seemed more positive than the final score. Nice review by the way! I forgot this game was coming out and now its back on my radar!
I was honestly confused by the score too, I'm usually pretty good at predicting the Allies' scores but I pinned this one at about an 8.5 or a 9 by the time the score showed up. Curious as to why it's lower than expected myself.
And yes I know 8 is a good score!
Really? I was surprised it was an 8 tbh although I'm glad it got that.
A Bloodworth 8 is a Brad/Huber/Jones 9 tbh.
It wasn't all sunshine, he expresses some criticism at 4:57. Which kinda answers your question
Excited to check this one out eventually.
HLD is one of the best indie games I have ever played. Can’t wait to pick this one up! Heart Machine is amazing at what they do. Especially the music. So atmospheric.
I wouldn’t mind if Sonic Frontiers ends up being kinda like this,
But faster of course.
Lower those expectations
@@cdmanjak 😂😂😂
Really excited for this one. Hyper Light Drifter was great and I love the vibe that Disasterpeace can bring to a game (though I think he only did some of the music for this)
Thanks for the review! Didn't realize this was already out, need to finish up HLD and pick this up.
The games audio sound very filtered in this review, is it like that in game? Look amazing. Can't believe they went from Hyper Light Drifter to this.
Yeah, we haven't done anything that would affect the audio. The boss music in particular can sound very different, depending on proximity. -Bloodworth
@@EasyAllies The sound at 1:54 in particular sounds really weird and muffled. Maybe it'd make more sense in the context of the game and it's world.
I'm glad Bloodworth made this review. I've yet to see one of his I didn't agree with and I still think his review of the Last Guardian is one of the best reviews period. Dude perfectly put into words why that game is an absolute masterpiece
Agreed
thanks. I'm not digging the idea of timed boss fights, but the aesthetics are perhaps gorgeous enough to overlook that.
Music to my ears to hear Blood likes it, this was my most anticipated of 2021 and the delays spooked me!
Looks good, might buy later on sale.
Nice! I was looking forward to this game. Didn’t even realize it had a release date.
Dope review Blood, gives a great idea about the game without spoiling too much.
I'm holding out for a physical, since Hyper Light Drifter got a few on PS4 and Switch, particularly a really sick Japanese version that had English. Fingers crossed!
Thank you for the nice review. "A meter counts down", aaand that´s all I needed to hear. Solar Ash, it was nice meeting you. Bye!
Best in the biz, Bloodworth!
Wow, this looks awesome!
ok that boss battle really intriguing
I'd like to pick this up but I just finished The Pathless, so will wait for a sale
Hyper Light Drifter is one of my favorite games of all time so I'll definitely pick this up!
Woah this looks really cool
"Enigmatic and melancholy, but not bleak and cryptic either." Chills. Blood's writing is enthralling!
Kiiinda wanted 3D HLD from this game but reminds me more so to The Pathless and of course SOTC, still looks great and will play it for sure.
Sounds very interesting
I honestly forgot this game was coming out, I feel like there is no promotion for this.
Hope you guys cover a game called OPUS: Echo of Starsong. It has proven to be quite the indie darling, and yet it has received hardly any coverage.
Was the non-VO audio weirdly compressed for anyone else, or does the game just sound like that?
Hyper Light Drifter was a gem. Even though I prefer dot graphics, I’ll play Solar Ash someday!
So its The Pathless but cooler?
I enjoyed the game but i couldn't shake the feeling that I was never quite standing where the visuals told me i was. As if my stride was probablistic rather than deterministic, i felt like i was walking on a fuzz of subatomic particles... Granted that may have been the point, but it just felt unresponsive and unpredictable.
In Easy Allies we trust
didn't expect an 8 after so much praise! not that that's a bad score by any means. game looks fantastic.
Are you guys reviewing Chorvs? I'm torn on it and trust your guys opinion
I also haven't seen any other outlets review yet so I wonder if there is no review codes from the developers.
I forgot this game was coming out and the review makes it look really good
We may cover it in some form, but the notes on the pre-release build felt like it was going to have significant changes before release. So it didn't feel like what we would have reviewed would have matched the experience players were going to get day one. Unfortunately since Damiani has another big review about to start, he may not get a chance to pick it back up after release. So I can't say for sure at this point. -Bloodworth
@@EasyAllies sweet. Thanks for the update.
I'll get solar Ash instead since I'm not 100% sold on Chorvs
@@EasyAllies sorry for the multiple questions but do you know if Solar Ash is digital only?
I'm having trouble confirming. I love physical copies
Thanks for everything you do Bloodworth!
Not sure if this is a day one purchase for me or not. Definitely reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus, Pathfinder and Furi! lol It does look really good though!
the optic really reminds me of hyper light drifter... one of the coolest games ever!
Same studio.
@@cogigo I know! Heartmachine!
Oh wow they finally finished it
serious question has all of Easy allies reviews been 8.0 this year?
If you’ve played this:
Do you like this more or less than The Pathless??
I’ll wait for switch version.
Really enjoying the game so far. It does bug me how chatty the MC is. I don’t need to hear every thought you have while actively playing
Having gotten to play it, it's hard not to say that I'm disappointed. It's a wonderful game on its own, but it just doesn't have the same magic its predecessor had. Maybe Hyper Light Drifter gave me unreasonable expectations for Solar Ash, but it's kinda hard not to feel a little robbed when I spend nearly 40 hours in HLD and still haven't seen everything the game has to offer, meanwhile I accomplish literally everything Solar Ash has within 9 hours.
I think it's a little short on content compared to HLD. Especially seeing as it costs double the price.
My GOTY 2021
Jet Set Radiooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
From what you say in your review I expected at least a 9
Do you have a policy for when a game is too close to EZA and should not be reviewed? (IIRC you mentioned you won't review Scorn because they've been a sponsor/supporter)
Isla is friends with at least one team member of the developer and that person (Jack Covell) even appeared on Mysterious Monsters.
I assume they think it’s ok since Isla doesn’t actually review anything, nor did she edit this one
I think the problem with Scorn is they gave them money to promote the game which creates a conflict of interest not that they know the staff.
We don't have an explicit policy aside from what you mentioned with past sponsors, but it's not something that's ever come up in a way that feels like it's needed. Isla is friends with Jack (and several other developers), but she doesn't write reviews, and the rest of us haven't interacted with him any more than any other developer that we've met at an event, had come into the studio, been in an interview, etc.
I suppose Jason Wishnov would be one example where we might abstain from a review because we all have spent a fair amount of time around him in the studio and he designed Mysterious Monsters. So that's something we might discuss if it ever comes up. However, even there, I don't think most of us have hung out with him much outside of shoots. So if someone felt comfortable reviewing one of his games, I trust that they would be able to separate their critique from the person without feeling like they're going to disappoint him or something. Still, in that case, it's probably something we'd discuss and potentially include a disclaimer for.
Back to Solar Ash, though, I don't have any particular attachments that make me feel I need to handle it any differently than any other game. -Bloodworth
It would probably be only an issue if the score is really far from the average which is extremely rare for EZA IIRC.
Looks like Shadow The Hedgehog of the Colossus. I'm into it.
This game came out? Where the hell is the marketing?
L&R
I thought this game was incredibly infuriating. Really a disappointment for me - strong review, I echo a lot of the same sentiments. I think 6.5-7 is fair
Visuals look great but otherwise seems kind of boring and generic
If only this game had alternate timelines like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you wouldve given it a 10/10
What?
Uhm actually... Black holes do not look like that.... Sorry, had to say it.
