The ability to take pictures of places on the map you can’t access yet for future reference is an absolutely genius quality of life mechanic and should be implemented in not only future Metroidvanias, but all future non linear/open world games.

I tried the demo and was hooked. Got it day one off Ubi+ and holy hell....15 hours on hard mode and this game I feel will go down as a classic and one of the best in the genre.
In all honesty I like that with mirage, avatar and this game Ubi has put out fun games again and seems to be letting devs have some more creative freedom. Makes me look forward to AC Red

Just tried the demo, already loving the platforming. Not surprising, this is by Ubisoft Montpellier, who did Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, so they're qualified for platforming games.
The control is very tight, I loved the demo
Yeah Rayman Origins & Legends are two of the best games I've ever played
And they did Mario + Rabbids games and they were great.

For a Company that's been going since 1986 you'd want to hope so.
Ubisoft Montpellier is known for banger quality. Maybe you get your facts straight.
Their approach to difficulty is something more games need.
I remember when the game was first announced, people started hating on it already then, just beacuse of the characters haircut.
This genuinely looks really good, bodes well that you guys enjoyed it. I'll pick it up at some point.

It will always be funny remembering comments saying they should have made a game "3D like the first one". Because Sands of Time is the first Prince of Persia game apparently!
People not knowing dreadlocks were a thing in ancient cultures and jumping straight on the hate train, hilarious.
If you go onto other videos uploaded by places like IGN there's still a lot of dumb outrage in the comment sections.

@@grilledmoistpeepee6682 Hm, that's a pretty high bar to set. So maybe combining all the best metroidvania features plus some small innovations isn't quite revolutionary. But I'd call it enough for at least 9.5 if 10 is reserved for only heavy disruptors.

Yeah this is an easy buy for me. When I think about a video game first thing comes to my mind is 2d action platformer. This is equal to video game for me.

In an intrerview at Nintendo Life, the animation director said that the whole team was heavily influenced by anime- so yeah, that's the point.

Maybe the game is good but i dont like graphics and art style. It looks like they masked graphical inferiority with a sidescrolling view. Its kinda dark, not to my liking. I guess its just me. But on the other side look at the Ori 1 and 2, and you will understand what i mean.
Is this really the Prince of Persia, and not the Prince of Russia? Why does his sword look like a Russian flag?) The main character would have to be named Putin and then everything would fall into place 🤍💙❤

An unexpected direction for one of the most defining 3D action platformer franchises of the early 2000s, but I'm glad it turned out to be a good game. Better a different flavor of POP than no POP at all.

If you mean to say that a couple DoS games created when 3D technology in games wasnt even a thing is enough to predict they'd go 2D MV for the franchise's big revival over 30 years later, I don't know what to tell you. A franchise whose every main entry has been 3D, since POP3D in 1999, with 2D platformers being only used for low budget mobile entries. A franchise which was supposed to be releasing remakes of the SoT trilogy right now. You're saying that when Ubisoft announced the next main entry in the POP franchise would be a metroidvania, you were like: "I saw that coming a mile away"?... get out of here. You're just being a contrarian for the sake of it.

Great review to begin 2024! It would be my first game in the series and Im so hyped by the Metroidvania gameplay. Undecided whether I should get it on PS5 or Switch though.
It seems like it runs great in current gen. You are gonna have to check the switch version on Digital Foundry
I would get it on PS5. I prefer the graphical spectacle and high frame rates, but that's me.
@@DravenxEyeless Yeah, I checked the Digital Foundry analysis and Switch holds up pretty well except on few cutscenes. It good to see they polished the Switch version but I guess Im going PS5 after all.
They're both good, if you want to play it portably get it on switch.

this is one of my favorite metroidvania game on the switch once I started playing this game I instantly got hooked…..if u haven’t play prince of Persia the lost crown u need to play this game it’s fun and it’s addictive game to play 😃
I would still love a proper successor to the Sands of Time series but this looks potentially cool (and extremely anime)
Those dark areas look so cool. The game was kinda lower on my list to get this year, but now I think I'll have to bump that up a bit...

That's cuz' it is. Easy Allies was formed in 2016 by the promenant personalities from Gametrailers after they got shut down, including Brandon Jones which did the VO for the site. He left Easy Allies in 2022 but keeps doing the VO for the reviews as a freelancer.

Ability to take pics on the map location and view it from the map is ingenious. This should be the standard for open world games now.
