Bout time someone sees doing things like me. I no longer work, but I really don’t want to stand around baking sheets of paper for 6-8 hours. Call me lazy, that’s ok, I just know what I will or will not do. I’ll do your method. Ty for sharing 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial. No apology needed for this video! You were very helpful and real. I loved it. I know I came late to the junk journal world, but I am having so much fun. Thank you again for sharing.
Oh, yay! I hope it's working out wonderfully for you! I have the easiest chili recipe ever! Here it is ... 2 cans chili beans, 2 cans diced chili tomatos, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 lb ground beef browned with onions mixed in, 1 package chili seasoning. Put them all in your pot and simmer for about an hour! Easiest, quickest chili you'll ever make. I add cheese, fritos, diced onion, and sour cream to my bowl with a little verde salsa and it's the absolute best! I call it chili frito pie and my kids always loved having it for supper. My hubby adds jalapeno's to his. It's perfect for a quick meal. If you need to eat it on the go, just get yourself some serving size fritos bags, add it all in to the bag and throw in a disposable spoon and go go go!
I know this is a few years old but dang girl I am SO doing this from now on! Because ain't nobody got time for all that one sheet wonder in the coffee staining paper! LOL Wow what a game changer! Thank you!!! SO Much!!!!!
New subbie. Great idea, ate an ice cream with my left hand, dyed with my right - huge batch of papers in mega quick time. Finished dyeing before I finished the ice cream. Air drying them tomorrow as it is so hot here in England. Many thanks
I'm with you! I've watched WAYYY to many videos on this subject that go on and on and on about microscopic nonsense. This is informative and to the point!
hi diane, i was looking for a quicker method to coffee dye papers and found yours! i am SO going to try it this way, and i never thought to use my oven racks instead of cookie sheets (with parchment paper) brilliant! your chili looks yummy! tfs, excited to give this a try. you are such a sweetheart 🌷👏😊
@@shawcraft1 hi diane, i had to leave another comment after trying your techniques. i LOVE this way of coffee dying-yes! it saved lots of time, especially using parchment paper on the oven racks. i use to just put a few sheets of paper on cookie sheets but using the actual oven racks holds a lot more papers. thanks again for sharing these ideas-they all worked great! :)
Great technique. I do dip/spray and bake sometimes but mostly just spray and iron when wet. But this is another unique take on the tedious coffee/tea dying & baking process.
Just FYI, I found out just by accident when I dyed too much paper at once that if you separate the paper with paper towels and just lay the stay on the racks that it dries in twice the time. I am new to this and this may be known to others already but just my 2 cents worth. Love the videos!!!
Fantastic, I am going to try this today. I use a very strong concentrated coffee or tea mixture so I am curious to see just how long it will take to get the hue I desire before the baking process. If this turns out to my satisfaction you will have done me a GREAT service by sharing this technique because I usually spend literally DAYS dying paper and I absolutely HATE it lol. But it is one of those necessary evils in the creation of my Vintage JJ's. Thx sweetie.
Hi I know this is an older video, but I like your style. I use a paintbrush my coffee is in a big mason jar then I sort of rag roll so it isn’t dripping, and hang them on my line or airier in my craft room, doesn’t take long I can’t be doing with too much standing and achy arms, my way is pretty quick, dries couple hours to overnight I love the colour it comes out, I just use copier paper as this thickens the paper lovely, I also have different coloured water coloured ink in jars too.Thank you xx😁🧡
I do both! I check the papers to see if they're dry. If they aren't all dry, I may pull the racks out and take out the dry ones and put the wet ones back in. Sometimes, if just the top ones are dry, I will snatch them out with bare hands but be careful not to burn yourself! Ask me how I know, lol
Great idea, I have always taken great pains & processed only 1 pg @ a time & I end ups spending the entire day coffee dying paper, UGH.....so I am out of CS paper so guess what I'm going to do now?? lol. Thx sweetie, toodles.
Great tips! How do you make your own sprays? I did my first try at coffee dying and drying in the oven the other day. In an hour I had made enough paper to do one junk journal. I knew this wasn't time efficient, especially when my energy is very limited. So I'm glad you showed this way! I did start laying two papers per pan and I baked at 250. But I kept wondering , if I was in the kitchen, why did I have to bake at such a low temp? I was steadily moving, making a pan and putting it in the oven, making another, putting it in, etc. I had 7 pans going on my 3 oven racks. I'm wondering what would happen if you put that pan of paper that is stacked in the oven after you pour off any loose coffee. I'm all about making something faster! LOL Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
Leslie, I will try to do a tutorial on making the sprays. I broke my tripod tonight, so I'm going to have to order another one, but I will do the tutorial as soon as I can. I have put the whole pan full in the oven before. You just have to check them often and pull from the bottom up so they don't burn. But they come out just fine that way too!
Shaw Craft 1 Awesome! I’ve made a spray now. I used it when I put a doily over the paper to do a second dying. It was so pretty! Sorry about your tripod.
Leslie Clare Jones Creative Pzazz I did see a video where the lady soaked the papers in the roasting pan then poured the tea away and just put the whole pan n papers in the oven. She did this with a ream of papers all in one go in the pan, and all worked out fine.
I don't! I actually love the smell, so I leave it. I find that once it sits for a while, it tends to lose the smell but I don't mind it. You could try to let it air out in the outdoors, or put it on a plastic bag in the freezer with a bit of baking soda in it. I do that when I have an old book that smells bad. It generally helps.
Love this technique! When I tried it using plain printer paper, I wound up with lengthwise wrinkles. Not sure what I did wrong. I thought I'd be able to iron the wrinkles out, but they were really "set in" by the time the paper dried. Oh, I let the paper air dry since it is so hot where I live. I'm going to give it another try though because it really is fast!!!!
Sometimes I get the wrinkles too, but I just think it adds to the character of the page so I still use them! hopefully, you will get better results next time. try spreading your paper out a little more if you can, or even rearrange it in the pan every now and then, maybe that will prevent the wrinkles?
Oh, believe me, I am using the wrinkled paper!!!! :-) Yours just looks smoother than mine! I sprayed some today and had great results, but want more color. I may respray tomorrow and see how that turns out. It's almost wrinkle free!!! Thank you so much for your reply!!!!
When I watch ideas for dying paper no one every says what kind of paper they use. I have used copy paper, but sometimes it tears so easily. And your method of stacking looks great, but do they stick together and tear?
Sometimes they do stick together and tear, but I love the torn look so I don't mind when that happens. I just try to be careful and not tear too many of them. I use basic 20# copy paper from Walmart
I do something similar except I put the coffee in the container and then dip each page and hang to dry. If they aren’t to my liking, I iron them. Also I need to know how the coffee aroma can be camouflaged?
hmmm, I'm not sure about the aroma. I love the coffee smell so I've never tried to camouflage it. I think I've heard of people putting cinammon and vanilla in the coffee to help with that?
Absolutely! I created this video when I was somewhat new to shooting videos and I've learned a lot since then. I actually recreated this video a couple of years back and it's in landscape mode. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me a great tip! tfw

It's according to what you have your oven set on. I put mine on 350 and stand right there with it and check it about every 2 minutes, but you have to watch it closely to make sure it doesn't burn. You can also heat your oven to about 250 and check it every 5 minutes or so. You just have to kind of gauge it according to how your own oven heats.
Most of the time they do. You have some that will stick together, but they're fairly easy enough to pull apart. You might have the occassional edge rip here or there, but I love using ripped pages in my art!

Guesd you can tell i have not done any yet watching lots of videos to learn whatz fastest and easiest so would love to know if printer paper holds up this well TIA
I just watched this and am excited about the method. I put my papers in to soak But I am confused about why yours look partially dried when you separate them on the baking sheet. Mine are still sopping wet from yesterday!
Yay! I'm so glad you are trying it out. Mine look partially dry because sometimes I don't have time to get back to them for a few days and they do start drying out on their own. I have even left them sitting in the pan for 2 weeks before I actually got back to them to get them out to dry them lol
I'm so sorry I'm just now seeing this. Please excuse my oversight in responding. I would generally say around 250 degrees and you just give it about 5 minutes and check to see if it's dry.

hi there, thank you for sharing your process. I am a little curious though about the idea of this being faster than other methods because you talk about letting this sit overnight - 2nights. How is that faster than other methods? still a great video and interesting idea either way :)
I don't think I said it was faster, it's just the way I do it and it's fast for me. You don't have to leave it in there for 2 nights, or even a night. Shaw Craft 1 makes sense, i'm sorry if my comment came across as criticism. It does look like a neat way to do it and glad you shared it. Happy Crafting :)
I just get a big bowl full of coffee and toss a bunch in there until they soak, then spread them on my floor 😂
That's a quick and easy way to do it also! TFW!
Did u use plain printer paper? I love ur spirit 🤗
Yes, just plain old cheap copy paper from Wal-Mart. Thank you, Christina!
Great info now how bout your chili recipe 😋
Absolutely! 1 lb ground beef, 2 cans crushed tomatoes, 2 cans chili beans, 1 pkg chili season. Brown the beef and drain, add all ingredients and simmer! Super easy recipe! tfw!
I thought you for sure you were going to pot in the chilly sauce that would have been pretty for Christmas hehe. I’m sorry I’m an old hippie
Haha! Nope, just plain chili lol
I don’t have the space or time. Thank you so much!

tfw my friend!
do use stronger coffee i poorte book and let it dry and it worked
great idea!
Hey there can you use coffee beans and soak them in boiling water and use that as the coffee mixture if you know what i mean please let me know as soon as possible! Thanks
I'm not very sure as I've never tried that method. My suggestion would just be to try it on a page or 2 and see how it comes out. It never hurts to see and you don't know til ya try, so I say just go for it! Let me know how it turns out!
I just tried that method and it worked! It was not as dark as I’d like it and I had to use watercolor paper instead of normal paper because the normal paper rips easily but it worked and thanks for being a kind youtuber!! Love ya! ❤️❤️❤️😘😘✅✅
thank you!
TFS!
Cool x
Yummm...chili
Lol thanx
I don’t understand how the paper was basically dry, and not stuck on to each other, and mushy...
Sometimes it does stick together but I just gently pull it apart. I haven't ever had it get mushy
Thanks so much fo9r the tips....
Wht do u put it in the oven?? So dangerous. Just let it dry on the counter.🤦♀️
You can do either. As long as you have it on a low temp and watch it closely it's not a big deal
Thank you!
Yes ma'am! Thanks for watching
thank you
