In 1996 I got clean from using drugs and this concert was the first I went to without being loaded. This concert gave me so much hope and relief that my life could go on, that I could enjoy my own true senses. This music embroiders my loose ends into a continuum of love and light. Thank you for reminding me of this. Thank you thank you thank you.
Erica Rawlings I am still using drugs, I leave heroine, but now after nearly 30 years I am cracking all day, well when I have the enough money to cracking all day long. I wish I had your strength to enjoy music, life, well everything that life as to offer with out being cracked. . Please pray for me, that myself be as well blessed by your strength in the form that he/she found the most appropriate. Thank you, I just love this band. Someone needing love .
Charlotte Ahrens thanks for your answer . of course there is a good more things to do in life. I still remember the firsts times that I and my friends listed not just c . twins, but there were and I guess and certainly hope they still play, dead can dance and this mortal coil. actually I believe that they play with each other. finalising thanks for the answer. it made feel me not one more. bless you and your recovery. casimiro Lima
The Cocteaus proved they could do anything. From their first albums with their loud hardcore guitar, the sound almost rock in a way like musette and drums. To the Victorialand with their dreamy underwater sounds of whales tails. To blue bell knoll with their operatic style, big change from songs like wax and wane to Carolyn’s fingers. Then heaven or Las Vegas with their upbeat synthesizer sound, yet dramatic with their ending of frou frou foxes in midsummer fires using the war like climactic piano. Then four calendar cafe with their instrumental almost sad music like Evangeline, yet power filled like summer head. Then finally milk and kisses, where they give it their all with their romantic dream state otherworldly heaven like sound, with serpentskirt again with the operatic alien like surreal voice, romantic seekers who are lovers with a sound like falling stars. One of their best albums. Truly the best band to ever exist
And it was just some kind of cybernetic cartoons all the time during the show???And no any musicians and Elizabeth too???WTF???!?!!?It would be better to see them in alive concert, then this kind of shit, as for me!!!;-)))Track list is so awesome!!!
liz's vocals were at her best during the milk and kisses tour. Ive seen four cocteau twin shows in the past and she improvised a lot and her vocals were all over the place. This tour found her voice at its purest and best. She and the band finally got it right live delivering all the melody properly like on the albums.
Interesting you should say that. I saw them a few years before this at Brixton Academy, on the Four Calendar Cafe tour, and they were good, but her vocal parts bore little resemblence to the album version of the songs, in many cases, which I felt let the performance down a little. As a band they still sounded great though. She sounds really good here though.
My brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life....
I see that you guys love your brothers. You dont show any bitterness or anger or anything negative. I mean - my sister - if i had commited suicide she would be like: " U F AHOLE, U F KILLED YOURSELF U PIECE OF SHT!"
Awesome. There was a period of years, I know I listened to Cico Buff EVERYDAY. I was lucky to see the Cocteau Twins four times; Detroit, Ann Arbor, Chicago, Pontiac. Miss them a lot. The candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.
This comment hit close to home. I'm from the Grand Rapids area, and I was only 16 in 1996, and never got to see the Twins. Had I been a little older, I would have been right in the crowd with you for some of those shows. Loved this comment/story. Thanks for sharing! Cheers.
I have seen them in Paris in Bataclan in 91 or 92, just amazing, they stayed with us chatting after performing - they all were so modest and friendly! ❤
i missed the Cocteaus last ever concert at Long Marston Airfield in July 1996.......because I was at the other end of the field for Bowie's headlining performance. Impossible dilemma. So cruel that they were playing the same time slot. :-\
Thank you so so very much CocteauBuff , this is incredible & a fitting equal to your HOLV soundboard sync. Fitting for them to, that they could go out playing so tight & sounded so good & at TRAH. I sincerely hope that Elizabeth really knows how deeply we miss her & her extraordinary voice. There is no one like her on our earth. What she has to say & sing, & how she say's & sings her words, will never be matched. Quite simply.Never. Selfishly perhaps yes I know but no other artist has 'fans' like us I' d gladly wager to, as if a sea of unconditional love & goodwill, warmth & well wishes could be felt by her from us all then she wouldn't be feeling the fears or whatever 'it' is that has stopped her releasing her material. And yes, I do, as I'm sure we all do, understand that she has been doing what could be known as , ' a Kate Bush' - ( that should rather be known as, 'an Elizabeth Fraser' no ?! ) -in so far as happily / gladly concentrating on being a wife & a mum. We all respect her decision ofcourse. We still are patiently waiting. Wishing, hoping & praying for something that she is confident in releasing to 'us' & the world. In the meantime we still have music like this. Not that bad waiting is it ?
I was only able to see Cocteau Twins twice and both times I was enrapt by the crowd , so many people who were so HAPPY and enjoying themselves so naturally and freely .
I missed them when they opened for Siouxsie and the Banshees in 88. So I just tripped to them for years on vinyl/cass/CD. But now i can experience the wonderment and revelation only their live show could deliver. Thanks CocteauBuff!
I saw them at the Ritz in Manchester, postponed for two weeks, in May 96. I had seen the Auteurs the night before, then the day of the Cocteau Twins gig, my dog Prince died at 12. I have a tape of the gig but it gets really ropey towards the end so I am grateful for this. The setlist might be the same or totally different, we'll see - who knows Cocteau twins titles?? I do know Bluebell Knoll was the first song of the encore. Very dramatic, bursting into the dark and silence after they came back onstage.
Thank you so much for this. I love the Cocteaus very very much. Imagine to have been on this tour, and to hear Carolyin's finger as the final encore. This is the shame about their breakup. They were never known as a traditionally great live band, but this was changing toward the end. With the use of drums, the Cocteaus achieved something special live. And their experimentation with Seefeel and acoustics was so interesting. The word is that on the final, unfinished album, Liz's contributions went beyond vocals; she began adding samples from her favorite records. Now imagine if this had been released.
Bahman Ghahremani Definitely, I only saw them on tour once, and that was the previous Four Calendar Cafe tour, from what I have seen in the form of bootlegs by far they sounded their best live during the 1996 time period. It was so damning that within the UK there was only a small handful of gigs and I missed them.
Thanks a million for remastering and sharing this... Some great performances of songs which I had but weren't favourites..like Rilkean Heart which is absolutely beautiful here... It just shows what the twins could do live... My favourite band of all time... They have a special place in my heart. ..
Change the heading - it's Ministry Of Sound, not Royal Albert Hall. I've had a slightly shorter version of this for ages - it's a real pleasure to hear it with all the encores. "Violaine" sounds fearsomely heavy on this tape. PS: I was at both the London shows - and this is the one where I sheepishly handed Liz a bunch of flowers towards the end!
This is just brilliant, incredible. Pitch the baby rises to whole another level with this version. I mean, can't tell any bass player jokes after listening that :) Many thanks for posting.
I was disappointed that there was no video. I saw them in Atlanta, US on that last tour. I have been looking for a good recording of an entire show for many years now. This sounds so much like I remember. Thanks for posting!
i was at that show and 2 nights for the 4 calander show in atlanta i have been looking for these dead can dance at the roxy and slowdive at center stage cant find any atlanta shows lush at the point the night split was reliesed was also good
I ever so foolishly skipped this Cocteaus tour in Atlanta after seeing the bit of a mixed bag that was the Four Calendar Cafe tour. Moose were great that night, and I got to meet Robin, Simon, and Liz, so it was worth it, but it was not the sonic bliss I had hopped. I still kick myself for missing the Milk & KIsses tour. Mark Clifford handling the sound made a huge difference, methinks.
@@aaron1888 Sounds like we were at a lot of the same shows in Atlanta around that time. I didn't see Lush on the "Split" tour, but saw them at the Masquerade for "Spooky". "Split" is such a good record, I really would have liked to see those songs live. I missed the recent-ish Lush reunion tour because their San Francisco date got rescheduled due to a visa thing. I was originally going to be out of town when they were here, but with the reschedule I could have seen it, but didn't find out until too late.
Love it! As one comment here stated: „comes from another world“. So true. Love the version of „II wear your ring“ a lot, ,part of my life story. Early songs from „Garlands“ et all maybe a bit underrated. Anyways, fantastic concert!!
Milk and Kisses tour was a HUGE upgrade from the questionable Four Calendar Café tour! Liz' vocals are again great here. 30:30 this moment in "Ella Megalast Burls Forever" is SO good.

i've been a fan all my life and yet i've never had a desire to experience them live. you get some really terrific improvisations by liz, all the more tickling when you're so used to the originals, but every recording of a live set i've heard always sounds like they're rehearsing or sound checking. i see what you mean about the drummer, it's like they borrowed the bloke from Def Leppard. really appreciate you uploading thanks :)

definitely, and the same goes for extra guitars. considering the huge volume of guitar overdubs on the records, sometimes playing counter melodies, a few guitar players fleshing out the mix and creating the richness of the records - on all live show - would have helped. Maybe it's better that Coachella was cancelled. Still though thanks very much for uploading (y)
Had you seen them live, you would see the insanity of your post. While I totally support your view and it's completely valid, the ambiance, the air, the feeling, the emotion, the swirling sound and vocals and feelings and pure love and art surrounded everyone, like the fog rolling on the stage. They were truly an amazing experience live and, consequently, I would never want to see them perform their songs as they are on the CD, you know? The pure emotion just rolled out of all of them, through the amps and speakers and hands and mouths, and you were seeing something that would never be performed again. It was like the most ephemeral performance art. And then finally hearing Elizabeth Fraser perform Frou Frou Foxes live in 2012 was the pinnacle of my musical life. Truly intense, beautiful and amazing.

I mean - my sister - if i had commited suicide she would be like: " U F AHOLE, U F KILLED YOURSELF U PIECE OF SHT!"

Overdosing and suicides are completely different things.
The Greatest band of All-Time: There was never tiheir like before and none since. Subliminal, Ethereal, Beautiful.

44:44 this is the best live ver of 'I Wear Your Ring". The whole sound of instruments (especially guitar) + Liz voice is just extraordinary to hear.
It's a good version but the voice of liz is very low in my opinion :(
Their best gig, perfect, liz finally has control of his voice with no unnecessary variations
I have seen them in Paris in Bataclan in 91 or 92, just amazing, they stayed with us chatting after performing - they all were so modest and friendly! ❤
Wow, I can't stop listening to this live version of 'For Phoebe Still a Baby'... pure bliss !
exquisite.
hard to imagine this concert is almost 30 years old. better than anything since.
still hoping for the reunion tour. if oasis can…
Amazing gig she must have looked as beatifull as she sounded. ( Thanks)
Glorious! I went to UK in 1996, but months later.... :( anyway, The Cocteaus will live forever ;)
what a beautiful and singular, provocative voice.
i missed the Cocteaus last ever concert at Long Marston Airfield in July 1996.......because I was at the other end of the field for Bowie's headlining performance. Impossible dilemma. So cruel that they were playing the same time slot. :-\
I know mate...I opted for Cocteaus but wished I could've seen DB
I am from Canada and I was at the show in Toronto 5 people back from the stage for this tour. So happy I got to see my favorite group in concert. 😄😃😁😀
I was right at the front directly in front of Liz at the same show!! I'm so happy I got to see them twice before they ended. She is unbelievable 😍
Thank you so so very much CocteauBuff , this is incredible & a fitting equal to your HOLV soundboard sync. Fitting for them to, that they could go out playing so tight & sounded so good & at TRAH.

Beautifully expressed!
I was only able to see Cocteau Twins twice and both times I was enrapt by the crowd , so many people who were so HAPPY and enjoying themselves so naturally and freely .
If only concerts today were still like that. Everyone just screams now during the music and talks. People today have no idea what a good concert is.
I missed them when they opened for Siouxsie and the Banshees in 88. So I just tripped to them for years on vinyl/cass/CD. But now i can experience the wonderment and revelation only their live show could deliver. Thanks CocteauBuff!
From '86,they didn't tour until '90...so,yeah you definitely missed them

so great to hear a full set from the Milk and Kisses tour.My fav album!

thanks for sharing this LIVE ' I LOVE COCTEAU TWINS so much
Iceblink Luck sounds KILLER
Thanks so much for sharing this! I've been hoping to get a quality bootleg from this tour for nearly 20 years. Best Holiday gift EVER! :-)
This version of Watchlar is seriously badass.
This Blue Bell Knoll live version sounds really good
I was thinking the same thing, and this was the best live version of Carolyn’s Fingers I’ve heard.
My god I was there, the memories of that evening are sublime.....apart from the blast of hard Jungle by the Ministry after the gig..
Best band ever. I wish the sound on Half-Gifts was better but thank you for this upload nonetheless
Unbelievably beautiful

Impressive !!!! Really Impressive !!!!
Thanks for share. Congrats for a job very well done.
Thanks so much for uploading this! A revelation . . . still miss them a lot.
so goood to find something like this
Thanks for that.
Fabulous 4AD, and their artists, was a milestone, shaping the word and understanding myself. No other "load" needed.
Thanks for uploading.. !!
Old punks never die.🤪
Milk and Kisses tour was a HUGE upgrade from the questionable Four Calendar Café tour!
Liz' vocals are again great here. 30:30 this moment in "Ella Megalast Burls Forever" is SO good.
I was at this tour but in Glasgow in May.
Nice,I love you Coteau Twins!!
Muy bueno el concierto...saludos desde Chile !!!
I'm glad you are a girl
I'm pleased to know you
I like you for you
I'm happy you're growing up
Rejection won't lose me
Destroy the objective, but still survive
You are angry and that's okay
Forgetful or pretending
Tired, ill, or angry, or cold
More assured of what to do
But I do care for you (What a beautiful gift for me)
Rejection won't lose me
Destroy the objective, but still survive
You are angry and that's okay, yes
I am not afraid of your anger
What do you need? What do you want?
I love you and I know that you can figure it out
Now I am a blessed father of two little girls. The lyrics make perfect sense now. The joy and treasure of life now opens up for me, after more than half a decade loneliness. Thank you for this lovely song CT forever a light in our days
When I saw the cocteaus in the Usher hall again in Edinburgh in the 90's am pretty sure they had two drummers!
Yes I remember that on the Four Calendar Cafe Tour too having two drummers
Be well always.
Thank you so much for sharing!! I’m delighted.
All I had then was ( pink orange red) please play it at my funeral then the other version..sorry 2 bring it up .
But there you go. X .
Thank you thank you thank you
What a gig man ..
What perfection. Thank you.
I was at the banshees, oh well never mind my hearing came back, 😄

Thanks so much for this...
muchas gracias...
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spettacolo!!!!
The only time I've seen them live was at the Albert hall - may have been this very show.....?:-)
This band, and Tool i wish i saw live 1996, even tho i was only 10
Elizabeth Fraser, es un ángel o es la voz de Dios. No hay otra explicación para esta magia.
Amen

Drums are BIG. I think they took up 3/4 of the stage. They were like the size of trampolines.
Nice Liz is singing the song they wrote for Faye Wong!
great quality man
how come i look up cocteau twins "live" none don't come up it's just an live audio 🤔 but im a big fan
LONG LIVE COCTEAU TWINS!🖤🤘
