My favorite band ever. I adore Liz. My only pet peeve is that during live performances in the 1990s she really started deviating from the vocal melody and performed in a more freestyle fashion. In some instances, i dont even recognize the song. Nonetheless, they're brilliant!
Their songs had layered vocals with so many effects which created the ‘melody’ on the recording….trying to reproduce this live and having Liz be the lone vocalist was difficult. From my memories of seeing them live I recall the mix of guitars overwhelmed her vocals. The 1994-1996 tours greatly improved their sound and they tended to stick to the song structures that were recorded (eg Aikea Guinea)
I do not enjoy that era too much... I strongly believe she wanted to leave the band, but felt overwhelmed because of the contracts and other stuff... so she tried to sabotage herself, but even so she was kinda admired... little before they broke up she sang too much better
I saw one of those '90s shows -- the only time I saw them live -- and was disappointed by all the weird vocal tricks she was doing. It's so good to hear earlier live recordings where her voice sounds this beautiful.
My favourite band of all time. John Peel introduced me to these legends way back in '82. Fortunate to have seen them live on so many occasions and still listen to their heavenly sounds now more than ever. Stimulating, uplifting and feel good tunes from eternal legends.
@@mithluinluis , I'm a huge C.T. fan since Aikea Guinea and saw them 3 times live (Brussels and USA). I have tons of material. And I already got some live versions of that song. But yours is memorable.
I have to admit I rather listen to them than hearing them live (not seeing them) 'cause you always expect to hear the the different vocal layers Liz put on records and then you kinda disapointed not to get the layer that made you so emotional. I understand she had to make a choice but when you love the band at that point, you like any part of it. Easy on guitar, not by singing. Too bad. I still love them as on the first day, almost 40 years ago, and listen to them almost daily.
@@dreamlifeds4412 wow is there any chance to get some of those shows? Please email me at grunjauz@gmail.com I’m always trying to make improvements on the recordings . I Listen to them live daily 🙌🏻

The Plain Tiger version is not the usual one. On most occasions, Liz had a large delay on her vocals. I've got a load of live Cocteau Twins stuff on cassette, I must dig it out.
Had a realy s$% day ... thaks for a great evening whit my favourite group, Amazing how thay come back at times when thay nearly messed up. ( that's because there the bessssst !!!!) ❤
Been listening to them most of today. Harriet is still my favorite vocalist (at least I can understand what she’s singing) but Liz fraser has a beautiful voice too.
Great curation of the tracks, could you if you have them give us the venue, source of those tracks? I can recall some of them from various bootleg but I think it will be a great help to add it. Thanks again+++

Song To The Siren, that's rare!
