I made this tonight for dinner! It was delicious, I love this girl. For decades I never tried to cook Chinese food because I thought it was super hard to make, not with Mandy. Love you Mandy, you are the best.
I've tried several of this Chef's recipes that turned out better than the best NYC restaurants had to offer. Making this this weekend 🤪. Thank you. Bless up from Brooklyn NY
Just made this recipe for lunch and it turned out fantastic! It was my first time frying, but with the simple instructions, nothing burnt and the chicken came out perfectly crispy. The sauce is punchy with the right amount of kick! Highly recommend! 🍗
I made this today and it was spectacular! My sweetie raved and went back for thirds...and now I'm going to do the same method and make Orange Chicken, my other favorite. I am fortunate to have both a lemon tree and a orange tree in my back yard, so the fresh fruit juice really puts it all together. Thank you for the awesome recipe and method. Subscribed
Mandy, you have grown in maturity and content, professionalism, everything! I've been enjoying your recipes for many years. My favorite is still Hakka style tofu. But I love your potstickers as well as this. Thank you for continuing to bring us great content and I'm good to help on Patreon. You are wonderful!
Oh wow... amazing! Love Mandy and how she so clearly explains cooking theory while presenting a wonderful beginner dish to Cantonese cooking! Chef's kiss to you Mandy!
A few modifications set this off for me. I marinated the chicken overnight before frying. For the sauce I used lemon juice, orange juice, and tangerine peel to add some complexity to the flavor profile. Also fried broccoli before the sauce step and tossed that with the chicken. Superb.
I tried this recipe this evening. The results were absolutely fantastic and it was delicious. I followed the directions, exactly, and wouldn’t change a thing.
I’ve just made this and completely agree that it is so much better than take away. The amount of lemon is perfect - not too over powering. Thank you for sharing your recipe!
I made this tonight. It is really tasty -- just the right punch of sour to balance the sweet and salty. It was a hit with the family. It's not something I will make extremely often because it *is* very sweet like a lot of Americanized Chinese take-out food. It will stay in my rotation, though, because it does taste so good, and is very easy to prepare! Thank you Mandy for making me and my family happy!
I made this a few times and I love it, in fact I'm just making it again now. And I love your tips Mandy especially so the flours in the bag for coating the chicken. That is a game changer for me, I never would have thought about doing this. Thank you for sharing all your great recipes that are easy to follow.
You might wish to consider using a micro plane to zest your lemon. It is superior to any technique I've ever tried. Thanks for the tip on shallow frying. This is definitely a recipe I need to try. Thanks.
@@SoupedUpRecipes I'm sure I will like it. Also, I've been meaning to ask you for quite a while....do you ever use "peanut" oil for your stir fried dishes? It has a wonderful flavor and at the same time, a pretty high heating point. In the U.S., it is used often and particularly at Thanksgiving for deep-frying whole turkeys! You really should try it sometime...
Hi Mandy, I made this tonight according to your recipe and it turned out PERFECTLY! Crispy and delicious, wonderful breading. The shallow fry worked perfectly (in batches) even with my western pan. Your recipe *tastes* very complex, but with your instructions I found the process simple. Thank you!
I just made this and it came out amazing! I've always been so intimidated to cook asian food but it was so easy. I dont have a wok so I used a cast iron skillet and it worked great. Thank you for sharing!
This was my first recipe from your channel and the lemon chicken is the best I've ever tasted - It was perfect - moist, crispy and very tasty. Thank you! Looking forward to trying some of your other recipes.
This is fantastic! I made this tonight and it was just amazingly delicious. Loved the texture of the chicken, while the flavor was fresh and lemony. Thank you for sharing.
As always Mandy you are a precious treat in the kitchen I love all your work even when I sometimes don't understand it I know there's a reason and purpose in your culture and I appreciate you for it thank you for sharing this I am making this ASAP tomorrow is not soon enough
Thank you for all the great recipes, I will buy the book anytime it comes out. I tried maybe 40 recipes...and its so much better and cheaper that takeout. its so sad how much takeout is now, so us seniors must cook while we can still do it. again thanks.
After you started eating your dish I run to the shop for ingredients and cooked it!🤩😋I had zero experience of cooking except sandwitches and spagetti😁 Amazing recipe, thanks from Ukraine 💛💙
Hi Mandy, If I can add a suggestion for making the chicken stay crispy, like you mentioned: You can fry the chicken at a lower temp first just to get a pale color on it, then let it rest. Then fry it again at a higher temperature to get a cracklier, crispier coating that holds up well to heavier sauces. Love your videos and your wok!
Kaboom! Mandy, your Lemon Chicken Recipe is the Bomb! Thank you with much Appreciation for all your Super Helpful Tips. Continue to Stay Happy and Healthy. 💜
I used your flouring and shallow frying tips to make fried pork chops for dinner. I didn’t have all the ingredients for lemon chicken, but since I had so much success making very crispy pork chops, I will definitely make lemon chicken with the same tips very soon!
I love all of the tips and tricks you include, especially freezing to use at a later date. I haven't tried any recipes yet as I'm just starting my make at home Asian food journey. Could I sub out orange for the lemon in equal amounts? I have a friend who loves orange chicken and I'd like to surprise her. Thank you for such great videos.
Wow I never thought this is so easy and what I can say this is much better than takeout.Made it tonight and it was a smash. Even my mom praise the sauce ,tangy, salty and sweet which is a perfect balance pair with the crunchy chicken 😊❤️
Ok !!! You are the best !!! Thank you so much, I will try this recipe with a little bit less chili sauce, I like spicy foods but you are on a whole different level when it comes to hot foods. 😅
Mandy this looks so good I'm going to the Dr tomorrow morning so I can go to the grocery store next door and I'm going to get everything I need I think that my Husband will like this also 😊
The one time I made lemon chicken it was so sweet it was almost inedible. I'm not super into sweet and sour. I'm gonna make this but put very minimal amount of sugar in it. I prefer a tangy tart lemon flavor. I also made some preserved lemons. I'm gonna use those instead because I have them.
Ooooo, can't wait to try this one!! Love the 'low level oil but still crispy' idea!! Thank you!!! Always waiting for more of your recipes!!! Thank you!!!
This young lady is the best teacher for Chinese cooking from A to Z.
Isn't she I'm so glad I found her site. I've tried a few dishes now and they all work perfectly and she is such a good instructor.
Yesterday I cooked it up, and it really tastes wonderful. I can definitely recommend this. For my wife and me, the amount is enough to have dinner 2x.

First tip when frying for a crispy result, is frying two or even three times. The difference is huge. Thank you for the delicious recipe!
My son and I made this tonight, first time for both of us, it was delicious! Thank you for your clear instructions and tips!
