Les here from Melbourne Australia. Never been to China (my dream), but I'm old and retired now and have time to perfect one type of cooking - I chose Chinese food. I only watch your videos - nothing else - and have learnt so much and have impressed my family and friends. I not only thank you for these wonderful videos in cooking skills, I also thank you for giving me something to hang on to life for. Bless you.
I love watching your father cook and teach you, it reminds me of the time I spent with my father who was an Italian chef. I was always in the kitchen with him. Enjoy every minute!
These videos are amazing. So much attention to detail in the editing and camera angles! Love it. And I love chefs concentration face 😂 I can't stop watching. Keep posting!
Thank you so much for sharing all your dad's wonderful recipes - your channel is an absolute treasure trove for all things food! I also want to say that your channel is the chief reason I recently picked up cooking - to much success (and after so many years of telling myself I couldn't do it!)
I just tried this dish last night and it was a hit! I followed the directions and it came out tender and flavorful. Definitely recommend trying it for yourself!!
Just seeing how far and long you’ve had dad on.. I think I can say I’m very comfortable with making traditional go to Chinese dishes for the family. Thank you poppa lau and thank you brother for sharing.
Holy crap! I made this exactly per Daddy Lau’s instructions & it was BETTER THAN TAKEOUT! Off the chain! Also made his Special Fried Rice which was SPOT ON! Lau does he have a cookbook yet & if so, where can it be purchased?!
We are eating this right now 100%.. It is THE best lemon chicken I have ever had. And indeed its crispy. I thawed out boneless skinless chicken thighs...I used that and it was perfect and tender...so tasty good. Thankyou so much.
Made this with fish (Tilapia) and it came out amazing. I do agree though to get the chinese restraunt taste you need to use concentrate lemon juice (thought I don't know how much) Great food and will be making again. The marinade is something I never thought of and I bet takes this dish from good to great.
Not sure he mentions it but the reason he adds water to flour gradually instead of the same amount every time is because the humidity of the room will effect how much moisture the flour will absorb
Made this for dinner tonight and the flavor was fantastic! The only thing I will do differently next time is to leave the sauce on the side as a dipping sauce to preserve as much of the crunch as possible. Thanks for a tasty technique!
This is the best recipe thank you! I didn't get the lemon sauce to my liking night try some chicken stock I'm not sure but everything else was delicious!
I really love to see the interaction between family members. And props to your daddy. Love the way you high 5. Wish I'd done that with my dad when he was around. No bother. I will high 5 my son 😊
I m native chinese but i fall in love with lemon checken when i moved with my parents to australia. And my love for it continued to this day after twenty years . Should i feel ashamed😂
Great recipe Thx for it , I love lemon anything , question , why doesn't your Dad use some of the lemon peel in his sauce ? it's fairly common in other lemon sauces and dish's to get more flavour out of your lemon .
Simply all yours reciepes are awesome, thanks, but as other suscriber ask Which is the best way or method to filter the oil?..please!! Thank you very much in advance!!
HOORAY 🎉🎉 . In all honesty, your father (and your channel) has changed the way I cook for the rest of my life. It started with the Chili Oil, which I had never known existed. That led to the Beef Ho Fun and Ginger Noodles. This diet is so much better than the standard bread and cheese heavy American diet. I feel great and my health has been improving. I went from not even having a Wok in my home to using it 4+ times a week. This is all due to you and your father. I will donate once my life has stabilized. In the meantime, blessings on your channel, your father and yourself. May you continue to grow 🪴.
Over here we have an Australian Chinese Classic very similar to this called Honey Chicken (I make one at home that is very different to the original). I've always liked this one as well
Just want to say the batter is extremely important in this recipe as I made the mistake of making it slightly runnier than Uncle Lau which made the pieces go soft when mixed with the lemon sauce which I’m guessing is due to the high acidity breaking up the batter coating
Love the videos! Is there any way you can do a version of this dish where Daddy Lau has an unlimited budget and can re-create this dish with the absolute best cooking apparatus (outdoor gas fired wok) and ingredients possible as he deems fit?
I’ll try this wet batter next time I make salt pepper fish; usually I just have the flour and starch in a paper bag and shake dredge right before frying
I'm surprised the glass bowl didn't cracked when the hot oil was poured into it. When I pour hot (not boiling) water into a fairly thick glass pitcher, the bottom fell out.
I don't know about being a Western food. I never forget eating lemon chicken in a HK fast food chain called Dai Kar Lok (if I remember correctly) in 88. Chicken had a strange taste but I continued eating and ended up spending the night in hospital 😂

Can I replace all purpose flour with something else if I need to keep it gluten free? What would be a good substitute here?
Gorgeous, thanks.

Can you please ask your Dad to say which is the best type of wok to buy and how to season and look after it.
This is the best lemon chicken recipe I've found so I'm using it
How is it?

It’s coming up on apple season here and Chef’s passing comment has me very much wanting to try.

It's worth doing! Yummy ! Thank you!👍
Wow one of my favorites dishes in HK.. 😋
I've wanted to learn the best from you. I hope to take a Chinese Cooking Course one day!
Will definitely try this ❤
Amazing recipe ❤
can make a video on advice with using frozen meats? is it exactly the same?
Should I temp the chicken after I fry it twice to make sure its 165 degrees?
To make that sauce even better, you should get some clean lemon rind and make some micro Julianne strips and add with a little custard powder
Nice sharing yummy
Thank you.
Would adding the egg first then followed by water prevent having to add extra dry ingredients?
Looks deliciuos
Is this a sweet lemon sauce or does sugar need to be added?
When he said you could use apple my mouth dropped 😅 I'd like to try it with plum or pear 🤤
i would love to make apple chicken sometime, will update later
So good,,,,
Awesome 😋😋😋
Sensational
Delicious 😋
In New England Chinese restaurants, I usually see lemon chicken made with a breaded cutlet like a katsu. I'd like to try this battered version.
Is fish a good substitute to replace chicken?
I think I'll give a try to making some lime chicken based off this.
I’ll try this wet batter next time I make salt pepper fish; usually I just have the flour and starch in a paper bag and shake dredge right before frying
Many thanks for the recipe. You have very beautiful babies.
how can i buy this knife? i cant finde on website
👍 from Malaysia 8/8/2023 thank you for the recipi
Do you have a recipe for honey chicken?
your dad makes the best lemon chicken two
cool ass two🎉
Can you show us gow to filter the oil please? Thats tge inly reason why i havent really deep fry at home.
I'm surprised the glass bowl didn't cracked when the hot oil was poured into it.
When I pour hot (not boiling) water into a fairly thick glass pitcher, the bottom fell out.
It depends on whether it's tempered glass which is just glass made to withstand heat.
Going to try this week we see lol
