The orange I used in this video (1:26) looks green but it is TRULY AN ORANGE, A SWEET ONE. When I make this video, I was in Ecuador. Green skin orange is normal in Ecuador. A lot of people ask me if they can use lime or lemon in this recipe since the orange is green? The answer is yes but you will have to adjust the sugar amount so it fits your taste.

I’ve made this recipe like 1 million times and still come back to it just as a r Terence when I make my orange chicken !! Love you lady ! Keep it up ! I know my family love this !
I read that someone said it tasted too strong of orange, would you agree? I want to make this next week, wanna know if I should add less orange (although I don’t see that happening, it doesn’t seem like much orange plus it is orange chicken)
@@Tooroontoo I actually ended up agreeing with them, I was surprised because I still don’t think the recipe has a lot of orange in it and I have such a bad sweet tooth, but it was way too sweet for me and the orange was overpowering in a way I didn’t enjoy. Which I also don’t get because I love oranges. I think if I make this again, I’ll cut back on some of the orange or sugar. Thank you for getting back to me though!
We tried making this tonight for my birthday and it was PERFECT!!! The chicken inside was so soft while the outside breading had such a great light crunch. The balance of the flavors was just right. Tried making it yesterday and cause I'm still an amateur I messed up a few things, like not heating the oil up to the right temp and frying the coating too hard or slightly burning the garlic, yet despite these flaws the food tasted amazing! I paired the chicken with stir-fried noodles instead of rice, and since I had a bit of leftover sauce I added it to the noodles as well. Was fantastic! Thank you for this recipe :)

If you follow the recipe like she says, it tastes just like ORANGE CHICKEN FROM PANDA EXPRESS! It’s superrrrr delicious. I made it about a week ago and I was shocked because it tasted just like Panda Express. However tonight I tried making it again but I was missing some corn starch so I had to substitute with flour and it no longer tastes just as good, the crunch is missing! SOOOOO if you’re gonna make this...make it exactly how she says! You won’t regret it. I will keep using this recipe for anytime I’m craving panda express orange chicken.

I made this without a lot of expectations because recipes generally don’t turn out as well as you think they will, even the seemingly easy ones, and I’d tried one other orange chicken recipe without success. Honestly, I was so shocked at how authentic and good it looked that I immediately took a picture of it when I’d plated it. It was perfectly cooked though I have to say my version was a little too salty because I used regular soy sauce instead of light. I tried to adjust it by only adding 2.5 TB of regular soy sauce, but it was still on the salty side. Even so, the family enjoyed it, and I was overjoyed. Will make it again either with the light soy sauce or with a smaller amount of the regular one. I highly recommend this recipe. I actually made mine without the orange zest and, not realizing you needed a whole orange eventually, we ate the remaining half of the orange after using the first half for the marinade 😅. I didn’t have another one in the fridge, so I used some old tangerines for the sauce portion, and it still turned out just fine. Thank you. I’m always encouraged when something goes right.
If you're using regular soy sauce (neither the low sodium or the light) don't add salt. At least that's how I adjust it. You can also add water to your soy if you need more liquid.

Hey, so I made this recipe again BUT instead of tempura and deep fry, I stir fried the chicken with soy, corn starch and baking soda. Removed from pan 3/4 way thru, made the sauce mix and added the chicken back in to finish. Very very good.
I tried this recipe today and it was delicious‼ Thank you for taking your time out to teach us ❣

He just said she deserves a ring not that she needs a man lol All I can say is my husband will be a very happy man once I make this for him
Thank you so much! We made this today and it is so good!! We used around 1/2 cup orange juice because ours was too bland. We didn’t have light soy sauce so we used around 1.5~2 tbsp dark soy sauce. We also used more orange rinds to infuse the flavor of orange.
Your recipes always sound SO very good! I have bought several things you often use, but I haven't found everything yet. I'm on a tight budget, so it might take me a few more months to get it all, but then I will be making your recipes every few days! Having made a nearly there version of one, I am eager to try the full recipes. I really prefer authentic foods, even if they contain stuff I don't normally eat (liver). I have used some of your techniques to improve foods I often eat, and it is so much better! I know other people use them and have posted them on YT, but I learned them from you so I give you full credit. Please keep being you, you are perfect just as you are!
i feel your pain, that carbon steel wok looks fantastic, i use a cast iron skillet
@@enriquedossantos3283 I have a cast iron pot, aka a dutch oven locally. I can't imagine life without it. Cooking in it is magic.

I have been looking for orange chicken and yours makes the most sense to me.
I stumbled onto your page and went down a rabbit hole watching your vids and am going to be making so many of these recipes because they look so perfect.
I'm loving your videos and all the cultural information you provide. I've always wanted to here someone speak about "Chinese restaurants" vs actual Chinese food! Great way to show the difference and educate 👍🏿
