I watched your video about 4 times trying to figure out your secret word and even here, there isn't one. 😂. I think it should be Squirrel! 🤣. On another note, I love what you did with the panel although, being new to quilting I would have never done it. Great lesson in creativity and loved it with the irish chain pattern. 🤩Winner winner Chicken dinner!
Thank you Heather, so I hope you win Soft Squares contest since you watch 4 times looking for a secret word. Thank you for watching & good luck ❣️👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I, for one, was not horrified at all to see you cut this panel up lol🤣 It was screaming "CUT ME/ SLICE ME"! Seriously though...great video Di...I love your "out of the box" thinking on this one.❤
You are one BRAVE lady! Your quilt turned out so beautifully. You taught me something today! I’m 73 years old and I have never had the courage to slice up a panel. That is why I have so many panels in my stash! I can never figure out how to put them together. Now you will see I will start using them up. Thank you I so enjoyed this video.
I have to say I learned about this from a seasoned quilter when I first started quilting - fabric is fabric and better to be used and loved vs sitting in a box somewhere
I have to say, some people are upset you sliced and diced the panel up…but in my opinion, it has been such a joy and lesson learned just how many ways you can use a panel! 4 different quilters and 4 amazing ways to use it…that’s a win win for ALL of us. Thanks Miss Di for thinking outside the box and giving us a new creative way to use a panel that just didn’t speak to you in a traditional way. Such a fun challenge. I love them all…have a marvelous weekend. Love ya And as always, hugs to the family. 🤗🥰🤗
I survived, thank you Di! You honestly gave me reason to look at all my panels a little differently now. Thought I was pretty good at stepping out of the box but realize I just may have another step to take. Thank you for the eye opener‼️😉💕
Mrs. Di, you are a wonderful teacher. Don’t let anyone change you! It’s only fabric and thread! And now we all have new ideas on how to use the panels in our stash. Keep up the awesome, imaginative work you share with us! #beabravechick #quiltlikemrsdi ❤
I love chickens, moving back to Michigan. I’m 83 and on a years waiting list for a darn Dr. I can’t do it here. I love it but we’re on a waiting list for a Vet. I’m so excited my son is building me a chicken coop. Anyway I love the panel.☺️
After viewing the other three channels I am absolutely sure that your quilt is my favorite. The panel isn’t anything I would ever choose. Your notion of cutting it up is genius. I actually like it after viewing yours!! It shows that even ugly fabric, taken in smaller pieces, can be redeemed!!
I finally diced up my last panel from my Aunts collection back in January, it was bears n made it for a small boy. He had no idea n neither did his mother that I cut up a panel. Love yours too!!!
Well, now I know what to do with all the panels that I have no use for....they have a use now. Love cutting it in strips. Awesome idea and a very lovely quilt!
Hi Di. What a fantastic quilt you made! Like you, I'm not a panels type of gal! However, I have two panels in my stash which were gifted and I never had the heart to get rid of them! Thank goodness, because now I will chop them up and use them! Thank you so much!❤
I love yellow.. it reminds me of sunflowers and daffodils ❤ I was at the quilt store and they had panels like that and had no clue what to do with them!
I love this panel. It's beautiful. That could be made into pot holders, and many other items for a kitchen. However it is also beautiful after being cut up and sewed into Nine Patch blocks. No, I can't see the panel anymore. Yes, it is a beautiful yellow quilt. Congratulations.. You just proved that you can cut up fabric so small that no one will recognize it in a quilt. Thank you.
I loved watching each of the challenge quilts come together. I love your version! I will have to remember your approach the next time I have a piece of fabric that is not the most attractive to leave in a large piece. 😉
I love the quilt. All artists have their own vision of what’s possible and pleasing. And I loved the “squirrel “ moment. We call all used a reminder . 😊
I love that you used the quilt panel to make an Irish Chain quilt. I don’t have a problem repurposing panels to make something beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration!
I never would have thought to cut up the panel! But why not, especially since you didn't buy it.😊 The final quilt is so pretty!! I was thinking of a blue/turquoise border, but I love your choice!! Thanks Di for thinking out of the box!
I love what you did with the challenge, especially since you didn’t care for the panel, genius. All four of you did it your own way and each quilt came out gorgeous.
Love when you guys do something together. Gives us so many options. Great job! I remember Darlene Michaud doing this to several different panels with awesome results
Thank you for this video. I won a panel that I had no idea what to do with because I make yoyo quilts. I never thought about cutting it up! Can't wait to see what I'll make with it. Another project!
I think your inner border really sets your quilt off. I love it. I'm going to check out April's quilt. I know you do a lot of collaborating with her. Love watching your videos. Thanks.
I really enjoyed watching this video. This was a long time ago for me. I kept gravitating towards these panels, but not really a panel person. But I really did love the colors that were in the panels. Then one day I just took a leap. I purchased several panels and a local quilt store and they were in the dollar bin. And I had been thinking about it for some months, I know exactly what you did, cut them in 2 1/2 inch strips, gray for background and made an easy Irish chain quilt. I had enough fabric that I made two. One to keep want to give away.
I love that you cut up the pattern in strips, yes I gasp when you cut it up and when you finished it!! Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your creativity and how to think outside of the box!!
THANK YOU!! I "inherited " about 20 quilt panels from my mom. She found them at a yard sale $5 for the whole bunch. I don't like working with panels because it's hard to find colors to match or its printed all kittywhompus. This is the perfect solution that I'd never thought of. And I didn't want the Quilt Police showing up at my door 😂😂
I love what you did with the panel 😍 I have a Tefal Steam Station, which is very similar to the Laura Star. I bought my first one over 30yrs ago and can’t live without it either!
I missed last week's video because I was on a cruise without internet. So, when I watched this week's video I had to go back to see your panel quilt! I think it's amazing!
I think that’s the fun of a collaboration, especially when there’s a level playing field, to see how different quilters will do it. Thanks for watching.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I love how this quilt panel turned out. I bought a couple of panels years ago. Now I’m not liking them but this is a great pattern to use them in. I can stop thinking it was a waste of money. Thank you so much for this idea. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks, peach, actually cutting them up was the only thing I could think of, my brain was not coming up with any other ideas🤔 thanks for watching my channel😊♥️🐥
I just Love this quilt you made today. I ,m a new quilter but I am gonna try it!! I am so excited to try it. Thank you and keep up your great work and thanks for the ideas.
You did exactly what I would have done. I'm not a fan of panels, and I agree with Bonnie Hunter. Cut the ugly fabric into small pieces and it will work! :) Great video.

Thank you Tracy 👍🏼♥️😊 Who would have thought cutting a fabric panel would be so controversial 😳❓😳 Thanks for your support 😊♥️👍🏼🐥
Hahaha 👍 Tracy. There is irony in that a chick bit the dust lol. Or the phenix chick 🐥 rises! 💗
Reminds me of the concept “no such thing as ugly fabric, you just have to cut it smaller” … love the result
Thank you & thanks for watching 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I think cutting up a panel is a great idea if you're not interested in the panel as is. Love your Irish chain!
Thank you 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
You are one BRAVE lady! Your quilt turned out so beautifully. You taught me something today! I’m 73 years old and I have never had the courage to slice up a panel. I’m 71 and learned something new today as well
I love it! I love learning new things too :)
LOL, how many panels do you have? I'm finding out quilters buy a ton of them, so shocked! I never knew. I have one, lol. Thanks for watching :)
I have to say I learned about this from a seasoned quilter when I first started quilting - fabric is fabric and better to be used and loved vs sitting in a box somewhere
That is a good listen, to use and love the fabric then keep it in a box. Thank you for watching Debee👍🏼😃 I always appreciate your comments😊♥️👍🏼🐥

You are awesome Debbie. Thanks for your support. You are the best, hugs back atcha & you have a great weekend with your family too 🥰😊😍👍🏼♥️🐥
Wow !!! Love it so much
Must admit it was hard to watch you slice up that panel, however, love, love, love the quilt you made! ❤
I hope I didn’t traumatize you, Debra. I actually felt quite satisfied, but then I had a plan a knew where it was going. Thanks for watching.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I survived, thank you Di! You honestly gave me reason to look at all my panels a little differently now. Thought I was pretty good at stepping out of the box but realize I just may have another step to take. Thank you for the eye opener‼️😉💕

Thank you so much Trisha 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I love chickens, moving back to Michigan. I’m 83 and on a years waiting list for a darn Dr. I can’t do it here. I love it but we’re on a waiting list for a Vet. I’m so excited my son is building me a chicken coop. Anyway I love the panel.☺️

I really enjoyed this challenge. You all did such a great job of coming up with such different ideas and explaining your thought processes.
Thank you, I thought so too. Thanks for watching👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Either you like a panel or you don’t. I personally find them difficult so I shy away from them. Thanks for watching👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I love the border, it needed that color, the entire quilt is so pretty
You’re right, Joanne it definitely needed color. Thank you so much.😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I finally diced up my last panel from my Aunts collection back in January, it was bears n made it for a small boy. He had no idea n neither did his mother that I cut up a panel. Love yours too!!!

I look at it the same as cutting up any piece of fabric. Better to use it vs just sitting and sitting and sitting unused. What a great result.
The final quilt is BEAUTIFUL 🤩
Thanks 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Love your creativity with this panel. Unique and perfect. ❤
I did pull something out of the box right Joy🤣 thanks for watching😊👍🏼🐥♥️

Wow, this is so creative! It showed me a way to use fabric where I like the colors, but not the pattern itself. Genius!! ❤
Thank you Diana! And thanks for watching my channel😊
I was amazed at your way of deciding how to use fabric you would never purchase. It is lovely.
Thank you, Diane and thanks for watching👍🏼♥️😊🐥

Howdy Di, I never would have thought to use a panel like you did, however, it came out sooooo awesome that I am going to steal your idea for some of the panels that I have hanging around here that aren't really my thing either. I love Irish Chain quilts as well so I am excited to use those panels and get them out of my stash.
