- Disney continue to go downhill every day it seems and their recent projects reflect that with Disney struggling at the box office with all of their films throughout 2023, and also failing to do well with the critics. The biggest blow to Disney has been their failure with the MCU which was meant to be their cash cow. However most of this downfall is a result of Disney's poor decision making, and their decisions haven't just affected themselves but also the entire Hollywood industry which I explain further in this video covering the downfall of Disney.

It was actually George Lucas who put Kennedy in charge of Lucasfilm, not Disney. She had actually been the president of Lucasfilm for several months before the company was sold to Disney.
Honestly, at this point, Disney is doing whatever it takes to save their reputation, even if it meant crossing the line sometimes.
You would probably be best advised, in the case of Johansson's contract, to have a look at the latest Midnights' Edge series about how Iger actually used this case to sabotage Chapek's role in the company.

Disney really needs to sell Marvel, Lucasfilms and Pixar before it can merge with Apple so that it can get back to doing what it was originally meant to do, produce animated original classics.
The insane irony about this "Disney saying you can only make a remake" is that back in the '90's when I was working in TV animation and early video games one of the biggest items of note when you one would "submit your portfolio" to Disney was to NEVER HAVE ANY DISNEY IN YOUR PORTFOLIO! Now at that time, this was before the animation boom, all you knew of Disney was they were doing just shows with their "Sensational Six" and some spin offs (Dark Wing Duck and such) but that "in the know rule" was supposedly in affect. So later I worked with a designer on another show and he was going to work on Gargoyles. So knowing this "unspoken rule" I submitted my portfolio and was even told by the designer that he was excited to work on Gargoyles because he was told by Disney that they were not going to do the "norm" and to think outside the box. So here I was thinking I'm good, that's what young people do sometimes. assume, I'm in.... Then when I thought I was starting I was told that my portfolio and style was too "outside" for what Disney wants and t he designer friend told me that the "higher ups" decided that the designs would need to stay more true top the "Disney style." So from there I went to DIC, which ironically got bought by Disney and that dynamic changed. But back then, '90's, the complaint was Disney is just the same "Cal Arts poop" to now Disney needs to be what it was and stop changing what we grew up with! THE IRONY! On the personal side of all this, I did not ask for these "reimaginings" and I will be showing my ( yeah I'm old) grandkids "The Classics." I did keep my VCR thank goodness! Well that my 2 cents.
At this point movies, T.V. shows, music, and video games should all be just pure entertainment, fun, and that's it. We don't want wokeness, messaging, and politics ever.
I don’t think diversity is important at all in cinema. Why is it important? Just make good stories and cast the best actors you can. A rainbow of a cast means nothing to the final product

Speaking of theatrical releases, Marvel and Kevin Feige were honest enough to hold off from streaming Shang Chi until 2 months after its theatrical run.
As someone who believe's Kathleen is ruining star wars and thought a fair amount of recent Star Wars projects didn't hit the mark...Ahsoka is not one of them. Ahsoka is a return to form and all the characters and Ahsoka and Sabin have earned the force through hard work and training, but those who avoid the animated series wouldn't know that and would see it as unearned, most likely. In reality, Ahsoka isn't Ahsoka season 1, it's Star Wars Rebels season 5, turned live action. It hasn't done too much hand holding for those that are live action only. I feel like it's explained what it has needed to without spoon feeding the animated past. But I'm someone who has context and knows that this show is a return to form of what Star Wars was before Disney/Kathleen took it over, created by George Lucas's true successor to which George passed the torch; Dave Filoni. Kathleen needs to go away and let Dave do what he does best. Anyone is isn't opposed to animation, please take the time to watch clone wars (you can skip senate corruption episodes) and Rebels. Your life will be better for it. Ahsoka and Sabin and Bo-Katan are not part of this "make Star Wars" female BS. They have establishing stories and history and they earned their place...and Sabin's right to the dark saber. It's make feel like alot of hours, but at least it's not catching up on One Piece.
When it comes to modernizing old franchises by remaking them i expect visual improvements using modern technologies not modern day political message!

I agree with what your saying apart from what you said about Ahsoka. Sihn Haiti literally says to Sabine she isn’t force sensitive in episode 4.
I don't think the intention was to drive their business in the ground. I think that Disney kept hiring inept people who had an agenda rather than make entertaining good product. Normally businesses would fire people after a year of failures. Instead she's been there for what seems like 10 years.

I disagree on "can't blame the creatives". If you don't want to make the project don't take take the project. It's just that simple and I'm saying this as a someone working in a creative field. In client works you are there to bring their vision to life, not yours. They may let you put your spin of stuff but they are the boss and choose what's going to happen because they are paying for it. It's a skill and different kind of creativity to go beyond your own tastes and bring out what others want in a great way. The fact these creatives can't or won't do it means they suck and are fully to blame.
If you only want to your original project, you can go and make it without cheating clients and audiences. Indies have a been a thing for ever and are easier and cheaper to make happen than ever before. You do take a bigger risk because you have fund it yourself but you get full freedom to do what you want.
Which is why I'm of the opinion that The Rat snapped up these other studios and their franchises in order to minimise them. To make them into smaller parts of a larger overall Disney franchise, if you will. And since I don't see a change of course for the corporation any time soon, you may want to rethink your continuing loyalty thereto in the near future. 💡

Little golden nuggets of wisdom are often hidden in unlikely places. A favorite example of mine is from the largely-terrible-except-for-Brandon-Lee movie "Rapid Fire." The bad guy says something that has served me well for years now. "The only time a man doesn't want money--is when he wants something else."
Some correction: George Lucas set Kennedy in the position of the CEO with this idiotic contract, that she could not removed whatever she did for ten years. Disney bought Lucas Film with this contract and the contract belongs to Lucas Film. Bob Iger don't like Kennedy, and if he was abled to remove her, he had have removed her. 😉 But you have right and Disney deserve to go broke.

I recommend One Piece: diverse cast, but it is not rammed down your throat. Each character has his/her own backstory, personality and ambition, they all coalesce in one querky, fantastical "crew". It is great fun and worth a look. Got a good story too. That's how it should be done.

To be honest, Disney has no victory. It has victory in the blue sky concepts but in the actual movies it’s like a second thought. It’s kind of like a seesaw when they are focus on the parks the movies or shows don’t do well and when they focus on the movies or shows the parks don’t do to well. I may have a suggestion have someone who is a fan of all parks take control, interests, and direction like they are making a movie and let somebody who is a fan of Disney owned shows and movies to control money, interests, and direction that way people can still be creative but don’t have to be ruined by the inaccurate dei and the woke agenda that’s exclusive and in-diverse. Right people belong in the right area, of course right people make mistakes but they learn from them and implement what they learn in their next project. Want now Disney is pretty much on the break of needing to learn, wants they learn and implement what they learned in the next project that’s when true victory is.
