Coming up with new stories is tough. The last 3 movies does feel a bit familiar but it seems they're out of ideas. Then again Star Wars is all about fighting the empire so they'll have to come up with another version of the same story. Not sure what more they can do to extend the franchise.

As a casual SW viewer, I think this is absolutely verified evidence that Disney are more interested in politics and messaging than story. Most people don’t have a problem with her body of work or the scope of it, but that ABSOLUTELY doesn’t qualify her to make a $300 million blockbuster. Unlike Rachel Zegler........it appears Daisy Ridley is not running her mouth and keeping a low social profile. Daisy got into a role of a lifetime but her character went from desert scavenger to Rey Palpatine, who can wield Force Lightning. It's not her fault of course and while I will not see any future SW movies......I hope she gets better material to work with.

I remember with 100% clarity that Daisy Ridley said she is done with Star Wars when Star Wars ended. I believe she said she wanted to do other things(movies). The only way she’s most probably back is that Disney offered her $30 million + residuals.
My theory is that they asked a lot of people to direct a Star Wars movie, and they either all declined or asked for too much money.
Keep in mind, they've been trying to find a director for the Rey movie for a while before they announced that this lady would be the one to direct it.

As a casual SW viewer, I think this is absolutely verified evidence that Disney are more interested in politics and messaging than story. Most people don’t have a problem with her body of work or the scope of it, but that ABSOLUTELY doesn’t qualify her to make a $300 million blockbuster. It’s ludicrously irresponsible from a financial standpoint, regardless of SW over the past few years. It just doesn’t make sense outside of the “messaging” context. I’m sure the contract was inked quite some time ago before the anti woke backlash hit a fever pitch, and I think Disney hoped no one would notice at this point, but that’s the trouble with a lot of activists, especially ones who KNOW they are being hired for messaging- they can’t keep quiet about their fight and how they think they’re the best people to fight it. You get what you pay for Disney.
