Why Disney Is Perfectly Happy With Rachel Zegler’s Downfall

- Disney's live action Snow White remake continues to stir controversy and negative reactions online, and now it seems things are looking worse for the Snow White movie, after a recent report stated that the budget for the movie is $330 Million, which places it as the most expensive Disney movie outside out of franchises. But what's interesting about this is that Disney don't seem to care, because even though they lose more and more money each year on movies, their profits as a company go up, but why? In this video I attempt to answer that question.

It would be beyond poetic if the live action version of the movie that essentially MADE Disney ended up being its biggest failure.
Ironic
Reminds me so much of The Black Cauldron back in 1985, in a way.
Full circle
@@RuleNo2NoNames The CIRCLE OF LIFE, you mean?
RIP James Earl Jones.
Now their failure is complete.
And the most expensive flop ever caused by one very unlikeable actress.
It’s more than that. They could have gotten little people to act which would be opportunity for them to show their talent instead of using CGI, but also lead actress being unlikable does not help. Changing the script to make it more feminine for the sake of it does not do justice with the original script. Disney executives not understanding this led to the potentially biggest flop of Disney.
@@IamHor1zon I honestly don't think so. Sure, having CGI Dwarves in a live-action movie is weird. Weird. Because apparently casting real people as Dwarves is "inappropriate" according to mentally unwell individuals.
But I think that by itself wouldn't have hurt the movie much. But Rachel Zegler tanked it all on her own. The interviews she did not only pissed off the fans, but also pissed off people who are sick of the "strong, independent, boss-babe" female character.
And to make matters worse, she also dragged politics into the mix by preaching about Palestine while promoting the movie. So now, she also pissed off people on Israel's side. And pissed of the people who don't care about Israel/Palestine and just want a good movie.
Zegler is Weird!!
Hey, that's hollywood baby!
@@Vernesk-k1u I agree, but looking at all the recent live action Disney movies there is something wrong with how the executive think about all their IP’s.
Unfortunately there is a HUGE fanbase for Disney that couldn’t care less about the films yet devour everything relating to parks and merchandise. You’re right, the films now are nothing more than big budget commercials for new rides and attractions.
Exactly. Money lost they can probably write off somehow aha
*couldn't care less
Technically, saying that you couldn't care less means that you care a lot, so the original comment is right.
@GamingRobioto
@@SecretMagicianOr it could also mean that you care so little about something that it would be impossible to care less about it
@@GamingRobioto grammar corrected. Thanks for pointing it out.
This is the most excited my family has ever been not to see a movie in our entire life. You have to admit, Disney is in the business of losing money, they finally have that part perfected.
Disney used to be the king of animation and storytelling. WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED!?
@@chasehedges6775 It's called the wke agenda, not the family agenda like it used to be.
Ahahahaha
@@docbrown6550 That and their obsession with money over good storytelling.
It would be a better idea to watch Brett Cooper's Snow White 👌
You forgot about inflation. If I make the same amount of income years after years and the inflation rate is 5%, then after 10 years I only make 60% of 10 years earlier.
And Zegler still made millions. I need to try some of this upward failure instead of all this downward failure.
Money will run out eventually for her. Knowing her ego, she will spend money like it is endless and end up broke.
Still she has her Instagram. She can continue to advertise products and get easy tens of thousands of dollar's per ad with zero effort.
Meanwhile I work three jobs just to be broke every time I pay rent. I could live off a couple million for so long. I live modestly. I think it'll just make her too big to fail although I've heard she comes from privilege so she'll always be fine.
It will be the last millions she'll ever make
problem is zeglar is in the same boat as alot of actresses these days look at daisy ridley known for being rey but besides that everything else she's done work wise has been nothing but B and C tier movies that nobody knows about, apparently with snow white being done Disney has dropped zeglar because she was unbearable to work with and with Disney dropping her she basically been all but in name been blacklisted from any high profile movies in the future.
Work 50 hours a week.

Meanwhile Disney blows another billion dollars on something nobody wants.
Yup it's 2024 alright.
just another vanity project of people who don´t know the value of money, who are used receiving billions of dollars from other people who had to work really hard to earn it. it is a bit as if they don´t see this money as their own when they burn it. and as long as they ca receive tax breaks after tax breaks for losing so much money, why should they care at all?
And they tell us that we are racist, misogynistic etc when we don’t want to spend our money on their toxic products
You're the second person I've ever seen put the $ after the numbers.
I'm in the exact same boat with two jobs. Sitting here on the edge of eviction and losing everything watching this girl make more money than I've made in my entire career for insulting customers and turning in a shit performance.
You got tree fiddy!?
Thank Deadpool and Wolverine for 1.3 Billion bucks for the profit.
Disney has more than one revenue stream. Uh... the parks, toys, retro video, streaming, etc...
The Daily Wire Snow White is definitely going to outperform Disney Snow White.
That would be insane, but I doubt it because they don't have the infrastructure for a global distribution. So their market is essentially 50% of America because the other half wouldn't consider watching it out of principle. However, it will definitely not lose the money Disney will.
Disney's stock price at the end of 2019 was $143. Today its $93.
I rather watch the 1937 film than this "remake" of a movie
Yep, still holds up. Always will. I watched it recently and it's beautiful

I loathe these Disney remakes sooooo much. Cinderella 2015 was decent but that’s not saying much
Yeah agreed. They don’t have the same feeling of the originals
💯👍
Really? _Cinderella_ was much more than decent. It's the best live-action adaptation of the fairy tale and nothing will ever, ever surpass it, because nobody's gonna even try. Was _Cinderella_ (2021) the best they could do? Yeah, it's all downhill from there. They should just retire _Cinderella_ adaptations at this point.
@@thejessegrant to me it is a similar feeling with most remakes of other old (live action) movies. even if they have impressive amounts of special effects and all that fancy stuff, the older versions from 40, 50 or 60 years ago had more heart and soul, mostly due to it´s great actors and their performance.
@@americanpleb7871 One of the worst types of people are people who don't care. And you seem to be one of them, so clearly you wouldn't mind me dismissing your nonsense.
I’ve said it from the first live action remake: these shouldn’t be live action.
Disney pulled off Zegler's version of merchandise. I've read that black Ariel does not sell well too and disneyland visitors don't really want to see the live action version of the little mermaid and that's why she is somewhere at the end of the park where people rarely go.
I think that all the profits they make can be attributed to the success of older movies. And theme parks have gotten more expensive. It seems like their target audience has switched from families with kids to woke folks and fat activists.
A lot of people who go to the theme parks are foreign tourists who are not hip to all this. Anyway if you star in a remake of the movie Walt considered his crown jewel and publicly take a big dump on the original for being unwoke, you will pay a price for that.
Very true!
Ariel 2023 merchandise is now mostly located at Ross, TJ Max and Marshalls, indicating that no one wants it!
We were at Disneyland in July and you should have seen the faces of the cast members when my 7 yr old looked at that new mermaid crap and said, "That's not the real Ariel!" I was a proud papa that day.
I explained to her, loudly, that some people are so sad that they have to destroy things because they aren't creative enough to make new ideas.
For me; their PARKS are the only lifeline that’s keeping them alive, nothing else. If it wasn’t for that, they would’ve gone bankrupt years ago. I mean, they’ve still haven’t recovered from their last few years of bombs, yet they’re still working…
The parks tickets are $10,000. I'm exaggerating, but I went years ago for my birthday, by myself, and spent $600. Not including gas and the hotel. They can continue to make bad films, but people still show up to the parks with a teenager who has no experience running the ride. O, also they have TONS of people having weddings at the park AND Disney still owns ESPN, and men will always watch sports. This movie will stink and I'm looking forward to the reviews, not the film.
@@theauntofdragonsthe longer you stay the cheaper it is. I spent my birthday week with my wife and it was just over $3000, staying in a Disneyworld resort. This includes my flight, which was mostly covered by saved up miles.
@@jimmer411$3000?!!!? Dude. I live in Florida and took my Mom's car lol. I thought "I" spent too much....I kinda want to go with my boyfriend, but he's like, "do you wanna just go fishing?" My problem are the alligators....lol
I know I shouldn’t pray for the downfall of a major employer purely because I don’t want thousands of people to lose their jobs, but I think it would be hilarious if Snow White only made like, $100M in theaters.
And it will be their BIGGEST FAILURE!
So far seems to be heading that way
In other words, our Next target = Disney Parks
Aahaha
I'm just wondering WHY do movies need such big budgets!!
With a company as big as Disney, I suspect as a tax write off.
Companies seem to assume BIG budget = EVEN BIGGER profits
so in other words Disney has no reason to cease with the mediocre movies and fan blaming then, right?
Well no financial reason sadly. But I’d say there is a reason which is to be good and honour the audience and honour the art of storytelling. To me that is more important and more powerful than finances
Prey much. Only thing that will change it is if their parks and merchandise sales drop by 50%
nope the controversy creates views and attention, that is the purpose. Keeping Disney in your mind is the point, the reason is irrelevant.
The graph is revenue, not profit. Their profit may be going down.
Biggest flop in Disney history and it's not even released, and all they had to do was a copy and paste 😂
Rachel somehow always seems to find a way to humiliate Disney.
Rachel is strange. 😮
This movie will fail on every level imaginable
Certainly seems to be shaping up that way
It would be alot like Concord's failure. That game launch was abysmal.
@@savioalmeida1103Concord should've been a FTP game that's why that failed nobody is paying upfront to play new shooters. That being said if they would've done something like Socom that people have asked for years to come back they would've make a killing..

Can't wait to see it as the most expensive flop as well
One of my wife’s friends never heard of the Bud Light/Dylan Mulvaney fiasco. Do not underestimate the clueless power of the automaton normie.
You mean normal people who have things to do, instead of scrolling through some stupid flops? Nah, that´s a dying breed.
Someone like that isn't normal.
People waking up is a very slow process. Took me 6 years in total if I am kind to myself.
Her face has become one many can't stomach anymore. I'd guess a decent chunk of people who would pay to see yet another live remake, are gonna pass this one up.
Yes, they make these movies to sell merchandise which is how they will ultimately make their money back, but I suspect these movies could also be used as a tax write off.
Its absurdly expensive but these numbers need to be corrected for inflation
I swear to God, if the fawn in the trailer is meant to hint at a Bambi remake
It’s kinda like how acolyte is the most expensive Star Wars show per minute.
It’s also the most expensive flop
Ahahaha
something i have not seen anyone talk about is how the original came out in 1937 and its 2024 so why cant they wait just over 10 years and make it a 100th anniversary. that would be a very easy angle for marketing and would also spike the views because actually making the movie then will actually have a reason to be made and not just a cash grab, because of that they could potentially give the green light for a bigger budget if needed
Disney movies are essentially the most expensive adverts of all time.
I haven't been to one of their parks in decades and don't plan to ever go again. Boycott Disney-even their parks.
I dont think they actually are losing money with their movies. The "DEI payment" money from BlackRock is more than enough I think to subsidize the losses at the box office sales.
I can imagine that their current movie making strategy still gonna bite them in the long run. people of my age group who grew up with the "disney magic" (Mulan, Lion king etc) are the ones who take their children into Disney theme parks and spend hundreds of dollars/euros on their merchandise. But their children in return wont feel that sense of nostalgia when they have children because the never experienced the "Disney magic" themself. And given how absolutely ridiculus Disney parks are i can imagine that they are far less willing to spend that much money on a lack luster experience to which the have no emotional conection.
The failure of the Star Wars theme park proved to me that u cant just throw shit at people and expect them to consume it just because it has the same brand name.
Last I heard the theme park attendances were dropping too.
Doesn’t seem so according to all the stats I’ve seen. Theres a lot of false statistics being pumped out by people who just want to say Disney is failing. And look I’m extremely unhappy with their latest movies too but we have to be honest as well and accept the fact that Disneyland makes money
@thejessegrant I've also heard that Disney + went years without making a profit. Not sure if it is now. They also lost money on those Star Wars themed hotels they tried.
Really it was just the over cost of the star wars section now its all scaled back the park it self is still pumping cash, but the losses here should have some folk use it to grab some wealth and power as one of them gotta know they could easily bring in the cash if they ya know just made a decent story that folk can all relate too and injoy and forget all the illwill going around for an hour, right onw of them gotta get that right, mean am banking on human greed here, i cant go wrong...right??.
"Why *their* losing money."
Bruh.
Tells us that we need to to boycott their theme parks and merchandise
I just want to point out that to have a downfall, her career would've had to ascend to some level above rock bottom at some point.
Why was it an extreme challenge for Disney to cast a girl who was actually white and resembled the original Snow White?
Try to understand - they tried to include all people: people of colour, disabled, dwarves, errr....
That would be go against their goal of telling us what to watch and more importantly what to think
Woke.
I can't wait to have another Disney flop be blamed entirely on the audience. I love being called a racist and a misogynist for literally no reason.
Profits are going up, but it's not a sound long term strategy.
I don't think that Disney will have success with this movie. It will be interessting to see how many flops are needed until Bob Iger will loose his job.
This is why someone like Kathleen Kennedy still has a job at Lucasfilm despite trashing Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Willow over the last 10 years. They don’t care about making money just as long as their social engineering is getting pushed.
This "successful" Disney strategy can't last long, because the terrible new movies aren't creating salable merchandise or theme park rides. They're reaping what was planted decades ago, but not sowing anything new.
If they still make money with flops, I'm sure they make more with successful films.
At some point, movies losing money will become a problem. This will movie will not make money. Most of their movies have not made money in the past 4 years. So no, loss doesn't equal profit no matter how you want spin in. End Game alone made more in a few weeks than both theme parks combined made in a year.
Bob Iger has painted himself (and TWDC) into a corner. All new executives and managers that have been hired since 2017 have checked off DEI boxes. The "creatives" were told to sell a narrative rather than tell a creative story. The Walt Disney Company's cash cow "Flywheel" has been destroyed because the narrative have been the priority, not the fans. The "target" market has been changed to appease and plander to the new hires. My only surprise is that the shareholders haven't revolted in mass. I sold all my stock at $200 when I heard Bob Iger was coming back (and the stock lost half its value).
You should know your movies are bae when not only other people but the targeted audience started hating it as well
Pirates of the Carribbean, a franchise made YEARS ago, has better CGI than this abomination.
It's such a dumb company. Why can't investors get rid of Bob Igar? This man's a menace that can't stop destroying disney. He's insane
No, Snow White is so much more expensive. They've always hide the true numbers of the budget.
I can no longer abide Disney. There is nothing magical about their kingdom.
Intresting fact an article came out today where Ryan Renolds admitted that Bob Iger asked him to remove only one line in dp and wolverine movie, the article implied that the joke would hurt disney somehow and he replaced it with a Pinocchio joke. The article didnt actually say which line was removed but I HEAVLY SUSPECT it was a joke about snow white. It makes the most sense.
Both cultural conservative parents and Palestinian protesters are already boycotting this fiasco. Who is left to watch the movie in the theaters? Disney should just dump ot on Disney + and wash their hands of it.
We will never have a chance this big to flip off Disney ever again. Do your part and completely ignore it.
If Disney doesn’t file for bankruptcy, in 20 years they’ll probably be like “Uh……this was a fanfilm”
Wouldn't they make even more money if they didn't make the movie altogether? Most people would still continue going to Disney theme parks if there was no Snow White movie coming out. But they wouldn't have had to spend all of that money on the movie.
What could possibly go wrong
It's only money
They make so much money with the parks, they stop caring about the movies and just started cranking out crap movies
One of the most expensive Disney films yet? Are you shitting me???? Where’s all the money going????Certainly not into production.
I'm so ready to see Disney go bankrupt. Unrealistic, I know, but a guy can dream...
"They owe it to the fans to make good movies" you know they despise the fans right?
Lets hope they also fail in the shopping district too for the Snow White Movie so they take a hint that nobody wanted to see Snow White Butched by Disney again
The story Disney is telling nowadays is their own downfall.

Are you guys still talking about movies here? And nobody is asking where they get their money. It is truly hopeless for all of us. Humanity is a big herd of sheep, now. Literally.

It's not just 7 dwarves that don't get hired. It's also their body and stunt doubles.
Snow white and the seven dwarves wasnt a big thing to me as a kid, why would i give a shit about it as an adult? The only thing thats keeping this movie in anyone’s mind is the controversy the actors are creating. No body would give a shit about this movie if zegler didnt give her opinion…
I'm excited to not see the movie.
Ahahaha
Movies are only a small part of Disney portfolio. They will happily take a loss on them as long as they get to push their social messaging.
Higher ticket prices cover reduced attendance.
The stats for attendance is the amount of people not money made. So no the attendance hasn’t dropped. But I also show stats for money made too
Yeah I mean.. gotta pay Rachel for every hour she's wearing the princess dress..
Can they make an ensemble movie with Rachel Zegler, Amanda Stenberg, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Brie Larson? I WANT TO NOT SEE THAT SO BAD.
These money black hole films almost feel like some kind of laundering scheme with how much money gets thrown around and blown with these bloated budgets
You're telling me that Infinity War cost less that Pirates 4???
I think you are right. End stage enshitification. The movie division is now just its marketing division and they no longer care about the audience at all.
Not only not wasting money on any further Disney movies, but not wasting one dime on any of Disney's ventures including parks
One has to wonder where all the money went to. A period piece filmed mostly in the woods. Not like the effort required to make “The 10 Commandments” or one of the recent Marvel movies. Should have been a relatively inexpensive movie to make.
2:42 That won't happen, hell it won't reach 100 million...
i’m starting to be hopeful that disney can’t keep up this crappy business model forever, bc of the gaming industry. people are finally voting with their wallets, and executives are starting to feel it, i just hope this trend continues. AAA studios are realizing people aren’t willing to pay for their crappy live service cash grabs, and see how many gamers are flocking towards indy developers. i even see something similar happening in the music industry. people want something they truly enjoy, they’re tired of the mediocre quality, reused or bad stories, and unfinished products. they want their money’s worth ESPECIALLY in a time where extra funds aren’t easy to come by for most. people just aren’t willing to excuse other’s crappy work anymore and i hope it continues.
Rachel Zegler was such a massively bad choice. Big ick
And conversely, the most expensive flop.
Actually, their parks will suffer because of this eventually. Who would go to a ride themed on SnowBrown anyway? Just look what happened with the StarCruiser hotel.
Seems like it would have been cheaper making an animated update to snow white
They just need to treat it like Batgirl and do a tax write off lmfao
I think you are misguided on what bonding means. Sitting in silence watching a movie doesn't bond anyone. If anything, the dude that smells of cigarettes next to me, the kids who won't be quite, the other side one row in front of me blocking half the screen. No, that's not bonding. Watching movies with your friends in the living room or in the backyard on a sheet with a projector is bonding.
Ok, here's what I don't get. If that's the casde, what does the unwavering park attendance have to do with the movies? If people are going to go to the parks whether they make a movie or not, why not just not make a movie and save yourself $500 million on top of everything? Are we supposed to believe that a movie that everyone hates is going to spur people to go visit the parks or buy Rachael Zegler merchandise?
When Disney was on the bring of Disaster, back in the 70s, and considering whether or not to cut out films entirely, it was Roy Disney who told them: If you are not putting out new films you have nothing fresh to keep generating the attractions that go into those parks. You're basically a glorified meuseum. That's when they buckled down and started making films that everybody loved and those films were marketable and they fed the parks and merchandise and other sources, and low and behold, they became the company they are today.
What is it that these flop films are supposed to be doing for these parks, exactly?
As much as I admire the art of movie making, blowing 200, 300, or 400 million on a piece of entertainment seems utterly obscene. Almost unethical, considering that we’re living in times where the average family can hardly afford a roof over their heads.
Oh, but here comes Universal Epic Universe with a steel chair
So, between Rachel Zegler and Brie Larson, which one is actually more likable?
BLACKROCK pays the propaganda bill.
they left their chihuahua off the leash
Parks revenue is down 3%, their EBITDA is up (when you don’t adjust for inflation) due to Disney+ going from operating losses of 96% to turning a small profit. For D+ to remain profitable they need content people want to watch, while the more damage they do to their brand the less interest there will be in their parks and merch, the former even more so given indicators of a recession on the near horizon.
It might look good to see the chart for the year passing last year by the midpoint, but there’s a reason the stock hasn’t rallied behind this, investors remain worried about Disney over the long term.
I would say we pull a fix sonic movement but with the amount of money they put into this, they won’t listen
what a nothing burger of a video
