What changes our perception can be labeled as God, or not... You chose... Put the blame on yourself or this God fellow... Your choice. Ether way the problem existed long before it became problematic for you. And yes.... God was indeed still part of the equation. He will always be. He’s LITERALLY the author of confusion! Lol. It used to blow my mind every time they said that to me.

I'm sorry your questions were met with accusations. God's ways are higher than our ways (just like a parent who teaches their child, even though the child doesn't quite understand yet why certain things need to be done a certain way (like wearing a seatbelt, brushing your teeth, eating healthy food, etc) so some things may be confusing to us now before we delve deeper to gain more understanding. The double edge sword with the free/will agency that we are blessed to have is that people will choose to not seek the spirit's confirmation on certain truths or will make an interpretation before they better understand context, other references in scripture, etc. That's what leads to confusion. If I may ask, what are the things you didn't understand? Maybe I can help.

The other excuse (used in a comment in response to you) is that we simply cannot understand God's ways. So if something in the Bible is insane, cruel or stupid, we simply are too dim witted to understand it. There is, for example, no logical reason to be against gay people. But since the Bible bronze age tribal authors were against it, Christians are still against it. They just pound their Bible but can't honestly give any logical 21st century reason for their condemnation. They equate GOD to the BIBLE and just mindlessly follow it. The entire religion is based on scoring points for mindless FAITH. Questions are considered temptations of Satan.

There is a moral maxim "if you are aware of abuse and do nothing about it you are complicit with that abuse." I think most people of good will would agree with this. Don't you? In light of that moral maxim this god of Abraham-- worshiped by the Jews, Christians and Muslims-- is horrendously immoral. This god is said to be all-powerful, all-knowing, omnipresent. So, he literally watches children being abused and tortured-- even by his own priests, pastors, rabbis and imams-- and does absolutely nothing. In light of that why would one expect any better from those who worship such a god? As social creatures we are hard-wired to feel empathy, and are inclined towards altruism and compassion. That is the foundation of moral-ethical thinking and development. Nothing supernatural or metaphysical needed. To not feel empathy is a significant pathology-- a sociopath.

So if bad things happen to good people regardless of Gods existence than why is that? If God had nothing to do with it than people are the cause of their own suffering and it is not religions fault.
Take for example someone gaining an STD, that would be their own fault. And because of this how can religion be the cause of all bad things if the only reason evil happens to you is because you allow it to happen.

@@mistersmith2549 Untrustworthy? Bible scholar Wilbur Smith explains, “When he said He would rise again from the dead, the third day after He was crucified, He said something that only a fool would dare say if He expected the devotion of any disciples - unless He was sure He was going to rise.”
“Shortly after Jesus was executed, his followers were suddenly galvanized from a baffled and cowering group into people whose message about a living Jesus and a coming kingdom, preached at the risk of their lives, eventually changed an empire. Something happened … ”
Both Jewish and Roman contemporary history confirm the following facts supporting Jesus’ death: All the accounts affirm he died, Pilate verified he died, during the lifetime of the eyewitnesses no one disputes his death, secular and contemporary historians, Lucian, Josephus, Tacitus, Suetonius etc. cite his death as factual.
Jesus was truly dead, a fact almost universally accepted as true by trusted scholars and historians. That Jesus Christ died on the cross, in the full physical sense of the term is one of the certainties of history. His resurrection is confirmed by many logical indicia.
Romans had assigned guards to watch the tomb 24 hours a day. This was a trained guard unit comprised of four to 16 soldiers. Josh McDowell notes, “The Roman Guard unit was committed to discipline and they feared failure in any way.” It would have been impossible for anyone to have slipped by the guards unnoticed and then move the stone. Yet the stone was rolled away, making it possible for eyewitnesses to enter the tomb. And when they did, the body of Jesus was missing.
Perhaps the disciples might have been so emotionally distraught that they hallucinated and imagined Jesus’ resurrection? Psychologist Gary Collins, former president of the American Association of Christian Counselors, explains that, “Hallucinations are individual occurrences. By their very nature, only one person can see a given hallucination at a time. They certainly aren’t something which can be seen by a group of people.” Hallucination is not even a remote possibility, according to psychologist Thomas J. Thorburn. “It is absolutely inconceivable that … five hundred persons, of average soundness of mind … should experience all kinds of sensuous impressions - visual, auditory, tactual - and that all these … experiences should rest entirely upon … hallucination.”
The hallucination theory, then, appears to be another dead end.
      1) No persecution would have started if He hadn’t come back because the disciples thought Jesus would never resurrect
      2) the Roman soldiers would have paid with their lives if they failed at their jobs
      3) there was a 2-4 ton rock that 11-12 guys would have to move
      4) there was a Roman seal which was a metal pin that sealed the tomb stone
      5) stealing Jesus’s body isn’t something the disciples would do.
      6) the disciples wouldn’t have died for what they knew would be a lie (resurrection)
      7) there was no money for Jesus’ followers to gain, only persecutions, torture and death when declaring His resurrection.
      8) if the story was schemed, disciples wouldn't have chosen women as the first witnesses as women's testimony was not trusted in that society.
There's much much more but may this be enough here.

God wouldn’t know the difference between people going to church because they genuinely believe in him versus the people in there only because they fear not going will result in them going to hell? And of course, there is the “saved and born again” issue. A serial murderer kills 100 victims before he is caught. But in prison, is “saved and born again” and now, he gets to go to heaven??? In relation to what you call “pair-bonding chemicals”, I suppose that you are talking about pheromones and similar compounds. Concerning pheromones, according to a study of the NIH in: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3987372/, their role in humans remains uncertain since adults have no functioning vomeronasal organ, which processes pheromone signals in animals. If you are referring to another type of “pair-bonding chemicals” … you have to explain those. Nevertheless, living in a modern human society with all the chemicals that people put on their bodies and ingest on a daily basis, it has altered, to a massive degree, most of the chemicals produced by the human body. “Pair-bonding chemicals” based on those alterations won’t last.
Satisfactory sexual relations also contribute to bonding with your couple that would last for many years. Aren't you showing the same arrogance of a religious person by saying that? Who are you to say someone gaining their morality from religion is bad? Who are you to say what is "good" and "bad"? If in your own subjective morality, you are "good" and in a religious person's subjective morality they are "good" what's the difference, exactly? Why can you define and execute "good" and they can't?
If you won't acknowledge the good they may get from religion (and there are some great lessons even if you aren't religious, the book of proverbs is a personal favorite) why should they acknowledge the bad? It's subjective.

You really need to read the individual states' articles of secession, they cite slavery as the cause and commonly refer to the north as non-slave holding states and south as slave holding states. The reason why slavery brought about war, when other issues did not, is because the South's economy heavily depended on slavery, and the loss of it meant the loss of the ability to self govern and self protection, and basically be at the mercy of the federal government. And BTW, the Bible was frequently used as justification for slavery.

We do not see that on the question of slavery. We see pious men who believe that their deity not only approves of but instructs them to fight against or for the peculiar institution, the result being many of them quenching the ground with their blood together while the survivors equivocate about their reasons for fighting. The fight to end slavery was not the result of an 'objective' moral entity disclosing a truth to all of its faithful who then collectively rejected a human institution.

Slavery in the Bible was not based on antebellum southern rules. People didn't have the welfare system or food banks to fall back on. People voluntarily went into slavery by appealing to someone with money to pay their debts. They then worked off that debt, and after a certain amount of time, were free to go. It wasn't race based or for life.

"religion doesn't give you morals .... It gives you a moral structure, and you should be very careful to know the difference".
I am a Muslim, and I found this vedio Really interesting and informing.
And as a reply, to the story of the Muslim who treats people good because "Allah" tells him to ... I apologize because in my opinion this is one of the misguided tactics that Muslims use ignorantly to promote their religion ... The correct answer that he should have said is " I am treating you well because I am a decent person and you are a decent person, and our prophet once said "treat people the same way you like to be treated" "
Back to the issue at hand .....
I believe that all the evil done by religious people in all religions (including Islam)
Is a direct result to losing the sight of what is a moral & what is a moral structure ....
prophet Mohammad summarised his calling to Islam in a simple - yet deep - phrase " I was sent to complete the virtue of morals"
The word "complete" here means that in order to actually achieve Islam, you need to be a virtuous man to start .... virtue and morals predates religions .... Generosity, bravery, honestly and truth are all virtues that are embedded in the human soul even without religions ..
So ... What are religions good for ?
Religion are good for two reason:
Personal ... To guide you in moments of despair , to make you reach your inner potential of good and suppress your destructive potential (your inner demons).
The second reason is "social" ... In order to form a society you need the cooperation of two people or more to achieve the goals that society needs , and one of the most effective way to do something if these individuals follow the same "moral structure" to achieve cooperation.
"Religion turns evil when people without moral use their knowledge of this moral structure to abuse people who don't know the difference between the two in order to achieve Their selfish goals."
And I sadly have to admit that there is no religion that can say it was not abused in this manner

The only way to get corrupted by religion is to believe the opposite of what religion teaches, and then proceed to do precisely that.
Shall we give an example ... ? Religion teaches "Thou shalt not kill."
If we don't follow this command, and kill somebody, this corrupts us.
Morality is to follow religion, not disregarding the teachings of religion.
Scripture includes bad examples of who and what not to follow, with several real examples featuring real human beings. Scripture also includes examples of individuals whose examples we should indeed follow.

The two main lessons the bible is trying to teach is 1 Man is a lousy God. 2. Love is superior to morality. Morality is the line that divides mankind, love is the sacrifice necessary to save it. When man was in the " garden " he learned agriculture, once he learned agriculture he was awakened to "morality" the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Once man bit the fruit he became a God, that's why God mocked Adam after he ate the fruit. " Man has decided to become one of us."

If one looks at the historical progress of morality over the last two millenia, many of the godly have used the authority of their deity to oppose what we today consider moral progress. When we look back at the pious going out into the field and shedding the blood of people who are no less pious but believe their deity is for their cause, we do not see revelation guiding those who pray fervently. We see men quarreling with men over changing the status quo. Both sides might claim that a deity speaks to them and has given them wisdom, but they are the moral actors responsible for their positions.
