You want to try enemas? What for? I administer them at work for colonoscopy preps or severely constipated patients. I fail to justify why you’d want to try them when you’re digestive tract should be very efficient at evacuating stool naturally, especially on a vegan diet. Unless there’s some kind of actual benefit to them that I am not aware of?

Japonte_17 agree! As a retired nurse, I think someone with a healthy diet and functioning GI tract, enemas are not all that necessary. Plus, they aren't all that comfortable.

I could really see how attached I was to food (specially junk) on my first water fast and my level of awareness and appreciation was through the roof within only 48h. I encourage anyone to try it! I remember being at my garden chillin' in the sun on my second day, when i just tried the wim hof method... It was such a pure high no fatty joint has ever given to me lol As always do your research and keep it safe, much love as always!

Just to be that guy that corrects your anatomy:
The rectus abdominus actually becomes the deepest ab muscle below the navel (belly button). The aponeurosis (similar to fascia) from the external and internal oblique as well as the transverse abdominus all actually run infront of the rectus abs at this level. Though the muscles themselves are still more towards your sides.
Above the belly button, the sheeth coming off internal oblique covers the rectus and attaches to the external oblique infront of the abs at the midline; herethey pull on each other as anchor points in kind of a figure eight shape - which is kind of cool if you think about it because most muscle attaches to bone, not other muscle.
Behind the abs, a second layer of the internal oblique sheeth connects with the transverse abdominus sheath, runs to the back of your body and attaches to what's called the thoracolumbar fascia which encapsulates the deep back muscles. This is called your anatomical weight belt and is why you can create tension in the entire core (including your low back muscles).
It sounds confusing, but if you find a good picture or video that describes it, it makes a lot more sense and is really interesting.

Great video Derek, a lot of useful advice! Just wanted to say, if people want to see differences, pictures are great. If you really want to get a better idea, calipers and a tape measure (which are both really cheap, cheaper than scales) will further help you document your journey. Muscle gains are a bit slower than fat gains and muscle weighs more than fat, but takes-up less space, so that'll help give you a better idea of what you want be seeing on the scale and other measurements. You guys are great together!

I have yet to feel like any of your videos are too long ;) Enjoyed from beginning to end!
I will say, it's always nice to be reminded that weight is just a number. I have the opposite issue myself. My weight has mostly been consistent since high school (maybe even middle) at around 165 lbs. Due to poor diet choices, stress, lack of sleep working 2 jobs for about a year and a 1/2, etc etc...I got up to about 190!!!! I quickly scaled back to about 185lbs after quitting the 2nd job, and finding more of a routine, but then the needle stopped moving much. I have been continuing to make my eating habits loads better this past year, and been consistent at the gym (though the past few months not so much, since the birth of my 1st kiddo...but getting back on it again!) but that # has changed little. It was 180 lbs this morning when at the gym in fact. So, it has gone down a little. HOWEVER, I have watched as exercises where I once had been using 35lb dumbbells, and now 55lb dumbbells. Shirts once a bit snug around my stomach, now have a little room in them.
We scrutinize our bodies day after day, so of course we are not going to notice all the changes right away. And it seems like forever when so much work goes into it....but as long as you are eating right and moving yourself, positive change will happen! And that is what I continue to remind myself. ......Didn't expect to ramble on like that. Oops!

Juice Feasting properly is an incredible way to improve every aspect of health... digestion and assimilation (aiding performance, recovery, and gains of course), skin health, weight loss, sleep, and yes contrary to popular opinion, eating disorders and appetite/hunger imbalances. The list really goes on and on. It's also a profoundly transformational practice of self-love along with physical emotional integration and transitioning to a vegan diet.
Enemas are very very useful for general detox and cleansing when used in conjunction with Juice Feasting and a holistically integrated diet and lifestyle. Using them without addressing lifestyle mistakes is only chasing symptoms rather than uprooting the actual causes.
Colonics are often not needed for most people but if you do explore them always go for the open system method because you facilitate the actual elimination yourself with your own neuromuscular and autonomic reflexes and feedback. Closed systems can sometimes be indicated but often unnecessary, come with more negatives or potential concerns for most people.
Juice Feasting is the smartest, most effective, and comprehensive method of cleansing and rebuidling that can be tailored to ANYONE in the modern world. :) Much LOVE!

I used to work at a colonic health centre, we used the gravity fed water system not water being pumped in, I believe it’s safer.
Also helps to have probiotics or high probiotic and prebiotic foods after sessions to replace what gets flushed out.

Hey Guys!!! Love the videos!!! So i have had a few rounds of hydro colon therapy. It was intense... but really good. ***WARNING FOR GROSSNESS!!*** Don’t read if grossed out easily! I had an imbalance of worms and candida in my body and did the hydro therapy as an aid to resetting my body’s balance. It was a huge HUGE HELP! I also cleaned up my diet and have not had many problems with my gut since that time. FYI coffee is a huge deal for me. While coffee is delicious and addictive, i find that it is the one thing that still upsets me gut (FYI i am vegan now- so no more dairy or meats that hurt me too) but the coffee will actually dehydrate me to the point of causing my system to be too acidic. That causes a host of things to grow that shouldn’t , my normal bowl movement cycle changes, and of course i feel horrible bc i don’t have enough water in my bowl or body to function well. Anyway, by chancing my diet and having colonics my life is so much more amazing! I have not done a round of colonics in about 3 years and still feel good. Treat your gut the best you can and it will treat you the best it can!!!

Eat your rice with sweet potatoes. The carotenoids block the absorption of arsenic. Also long grain rice is supposed to contain a lower amount of arsenic. Rinsing the rice in water as well as not fully boiling all the water when cooking it will cut down arsenic levels. Dr Gregor has a series of videos on this topic.

Hi Derek, I'm a strongman and went vegan about 6 months ago and feel great! I have less inflammation and have so much more energy. I love watching everything you put out, you have helped me a lot in my transition. My question is, from a 300 lbs guy eating 10 000 calories a day to going vegan I found a lot of my protein sources are attached to a lot of carbs and I'm trying to lean down, what are some good food choices to be able to drop some weight but still keep my strength in the gym? Again your videos and content are awesome, thanks.

As always, great video Derek (and Crystal)!! I just wanted to weigh in for that guy who is noticing strength increases but no weight gain (on the off chance he sees this)! There is likely neurologic changes going on as well...your body and nervous system are learning how to more effectively move the weight, recruit more motor units and muscle fibres, etc. This is responsible for a ton of strength gains early in a training program, especially if you're new to lifting. Just stick with it and the physical growth will come :)

Currently I'm eating around maintenance /slight deficit (2800 -3200 cal) and have a very busy job Monday to Friday but am definitely more sedentary on weekends. My goal is to lose body fat and maintain or build lean mass.
QUESTION : IF a deficit is 3000 cal Monday to Friday, but would likely be a surplus on the weekend, should i be lowering calories on the weekend or are you better to keep them consistent through the whole week?

  • @stefaniew9411
    @stefaniew9411 6 років тому

Ok, this is a bit awkward, but since it made such a difference while I was 7 days fasting: you really should do enemas while fasting (don't buy the little bulbs although they look nicer, they aren't, buy the big ones, those ones you have to hang up). From the 2nd day onward you should do enemas to help with the cleaning process. Especially when you feel tired, sad or however bad while fasting, after an enema you'll feel incredibly much better. After fasting you should slowly go back to normal food (at least half of the time that you were fasting), avoiding salt (very important) and refined and processed food. While fasting you can workout, and do almost everything that you feel up to. The experience of not being dependent on food is life changing.

Derek, I’ve been trying to eat a vegan diet. I can say that on my successful days I’ve felt fantastic. Lighter, more energy etc. while losing some weight! The question my wife keeps asking, which is actually more of a concern is, “how can it be healthy to consume so many carbs/ I don’t see how you could lose weight?” I know it’s working because I feel better, but how can I appropriately answer her question? Am I doing something wrong?

You guys make such awesome content, keep it up! Do either of you do any flow/movement arts like poi or hoop? I love combining poi with my workouts because I can toss it in my backpack on a hike!

#TeamEnema ...I’ve tried regular and coffee enemas and they’re awesome! I bought a $10 enema kit off of amazon and did it in the comfort of my own home. Also bought organic coffee for the coffee enemas. Felt amazing! I did this while doing a “pathogen purge” cleanse and I highly recommend them!

Hey Derek, I’ve been following your content for quite some time and have actually progressively been implementing a vegan lifestyle. I love the way I feel and it’s amazing how much body fat I’ve lost. I have also been practicing calisthenics for about a year now and love the flexibility and strength gains. My question to you is what is your take on Kre alkaline creatine?

Hey Derek, a fan from Perú here!!!, I saw you mentioned in other video that Crystal manage to reverse her scoliosis (and even get taller) using yoga!! it will be amazing if she can share tips, poses and even her whole method. I was diagnose with a moderate scoliosis and compressed discs (bad posture habits), and found recently a lot of new info about the power of our own body to reverse and even restore this conditions back to normal. I was thinking if maybe RPG method of physical therapy may work but I am very curious to give yoga an oportunity, I love it! Greetings and best wishes from Lima!!! :D
