Always feel bad for Cain, God knew his life would be hell and just kept being disappointed with his offerings of his hard work because it wasn't flesh and meat like Abel. So God put Cain against Abel with his favoritism. It was a big ol' set up.
He didn’t “put Cain against Abel”. God just didn’t accept Cain’s offerings. Cain didn’t have to kill his brother because of it. That was his own doing. 💀
@@Rayne1bow So someone spends all day toiling on crops, which are way harder than livestock, growing everything to completion despite weather, bugs, etc and God says "be more like your brother" in response to your hard work. Yeah, no. That's manipulating conflict into being. Cain's crops were a lot of work and God shat upon him.
@Topdoggie7 The reason why God favored Abel's offering was because he offered his prized firstborn lamb, even though he didn't want to and treasured it greatly. Meanwhile, Cain offered crops that didn't really have any connection or value to him besides sustenance, and Cain even tried persuading Abel not to offer the lamb and to offer something less dear to him. When God chose Abel's offering over Cain, God saw that Cain was disturbed by this and warned him "“Then the Lord said to Cain: Why are you angry? Why are you dejected? If you act rightly, you will be accepted; but if not, sin lies in wait at the door: its urge is for you, yet you can rule over it.” If he intervened directly, he would have taken away Cain's free will and choice. He could only warn and impart wisdom onto Cain, which he ignored. While Cain is sympathetic to a degree, he's not nearly as deserving of empathy as modern retellings paint him as. By not showing any reverence or sacrifice in the offering, God did not show any gratitude or thanks in return since Cain wasn't really giving up anything. Cain also denied responsibility and lied to God about what he had done, and he's continued denying it until he died in the flood or he survived it and lives to this day. He's shown no remorse or repentance for the crime. That's why God cursed him so.
@@captaintwitch340 Cain was supposed to just have magically conjure up something he was attached to? Yeah, because his brother magically was given that by God to have and to cherish and Cain was not given anything so he couldn't do anything. Cain only had his crops. This was literally all set up by God.
@@Topdoggie7 Where does it mention that the lamb was conjured by God in Genesis Chapter 4? I've looked through it and can find no mention of him doing that. In fact, what I did find was that was this quote "And Abel also brought an offering-fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock." was the only thing I found regarding it specifically. Also, it was Cain's own choice to kill Abel, God didn't make him do it, and warned against it as seen above.
@@kelden8605 It’s about Cain, one of the children of Adam and Eve, who according to the Biblical story committed the first murder by killing his brother Abel. (The short version is that he was jealous because he believed God preferred Abel over him.) When asked where Abel was, Cain is said to have replied “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The song is basically about that: the other family members realizing what’s happened, Cain’s guilt, and the connection between what he’s done and his parents’ original sin
