Super late to the drama but it's hilarious seeing people arguing over whether Root was a victim or not. She wasn't. Full stop. Jealousy is never an excuse for murder. The song to this actually makes sense because it's talking about the story Cain and Able, where Cain was jealous of Able for being better than him at worshiping God to put it simply, and how Cain killed able because of it. I'm not sure Adam and Eve were killed by Cain but it's still a cool song and animation. :)
If I remember correctly, Cain in the Bible didn’t kill Adam or Eve. He had to go wander for eternity or whatever. And I believe Adam and Eve had another son, named Seth.
My favourite part is definitely still the mother's artery gush. Similar to what would actually happen if you had your carotids slashed and there's nobody who can't appreciate some blood :) It's been fun watching the development of this PMV, from the storyboard to the streams. This is definitely going to be one to rewatch over and over, just like the storyboard.
Can I just mention the blood? It's so genius how it's pitch black. It adds to the whole thing so much. It's so- dark. Like when Anise/Root's mother gets killed and half of root's face is just black. Something about it speaks to me- just the fact that only her eye can be seen, that one bright speck. The way it just blends into the lineart, its like Root knows everything she's doing and embraces it. It's a part of her now

Okay first of all: The story. I am SO interested in your ocs! I read the description for the first time before I watched the pmv, then watched the pmv, and then reread the description. I really love Root, the way you portray her in the video is absolutely amazing. You can technically read her acted fear and shock when she tries to convince Pyro it wasn‘t her fault and she was just scared. And when he doesn’t notice, her original emotionless expression returns. And omg the part where blood started spraying out of Anise’s chest gave me chills!!! In general the black blood is really creative and fits the whole atmosphere which is perfect for this song... Pyro himself seems really caring and believes Root, I feel like he is really a good guy. I actually really want to know how the story continues but I guess I have to wait 👀👀 Btw my absolute favorite design is Ginger,, they seem so nice and are so pretty... I am sad they had to die so soon. wolfey hi i think root is just insane. Most murders usually feel some sort of guilt or emotion when they kill. Especially if it's out of anger, pent of rage, or just a need for validation. Murders done out of anger are also more not planned and messy. They tend to also be overkilled and the victims look distorted long after they are dead. Root is most likely a sociopath or psychopath based on how he was able to fake being upset when he really had no emotions or care about killing his brother and parents.

Ok here's something: Yes, Root has been neglected, But that does not justify her actions. She killed her whole family. And I know they were picking favorites, but she still had no right to kill them. I've noticed some have speculated Root has ASPD, aka, is a sociopath. I will investigate this theory myself. Allow me to explain, I've done some research on the condition. You are somewhat born with ASPD. Causes are unknown, but some children are born with that little ASPD seed in their head. It all depends on whether it grows how heavy it affects them. A child, if they grew up with a trauma-free childhood meaning the "seed" never "grew", could live and die without a diagnosis. Usually, ASPD comes in a very minor amount, so most also live and die without diagnosis. Very rarely is it on the heavy end on the spectrum, which I believe is what were seeing from Root. The growth of this ASPD seed has two parts. Traumatic childhood, and bad early I adult environment. Root already feels neglected and apart from her family, and got jealous when her only friend was friends with her other family, whom she felt disdain for. But the one thing that interupts this theory is Pyro. She has a friend, someone she cares about. That's not possible if she were on the heavy end of the ASPD spectrum. So why does she feel emotionless committing murder? Simple. Her family was nothing to her. Her whole life she wasn't one of them, not that she felt like it anyways, to the point where she just doesn't love them. Quite an extreme case of child neglect, which from personal experience, is actually possible with good parents too. Becoming completely swallowed in your own insecurities and malice, with nobody to help you or you haven't reached out to anyone, could drive you to this point. Root simply just doesn't murdering others that don't matter to her for her own benefit. TL;DR: Does Root have ASPD? No. She's just very selfish and heartless and will hurt people she doesn't care about if it benefits her.

A bit late but on a rewatch I am just realising now that at 2:25 Root is only able to kill her mother because Anise pauses just before she kills Root. Not sure if this was your intention but I think that is pretty cool and very morbid

This is an amazing pmv about isolation, neglect, and death, I especially like the manipulation and body anotamy attention to detail, the blood splatter with anise is very similar to what would actually happen, and I like the little details of burdock calling for root once, but calling for ginger 3 times, this entire pmv is original, from the deaths to the story, I I LOVE that!

your animations are just amazing, every time. So raw and expressive-you can tell there’s so much driving Root, even when she’s not showing it outwardly. Everyone’s so layered as well, and there’s a root (...heh) to each little movement, each major impulse... and the influence on Pyro, as well. So much going on
2:17 - 2:19 definetly my favorite moment. The emotions are so well shown, and i absoluetly love the way the creator put this moment right to the "Where's your brother?" lyric. Amazing.
ITS HERE! I am so glad to see it. I've seen the storyboard and loved it. This is really good too! The story is good too, Roots character and just snapping is a good concept and was executed really well. Then her convincing Pyro, her (only?) Friend that it was self defense is good too, it's really all put together. I just don't know how you make a good cohesive story

I don't know if you remember my comment on the storyboard but turned out so well! It still sends chills just as it did before and seeing the story I seem to be right and still hold the belief she doesn't regret killing any of them. She got rid of Ginger because she already felt deeply jealous of them (although it does seem that maybe Ginger cared for Root as they were the only looking for her and when we saw the dad looking he only called for Root once but its still very iffy with the lack of information/ But I at least hope and like to believe it). She wouldn't care even more so if she could leader of whatever group her dad lead. Pyro is her only friend and I feel like she knew and used that relationship with him to cover up murdering three cats. Do I think Roots jealous? In all ways to say yes. Yeah Do I think she's stupid? No. Odd but no, even if Pyros her friend she played him well enough to make him believe murdering three people, in the dead of night, AWAY from everyone else is a whole accident of self-defense and probably more. It's just my guess and feel free to disagree and but she is scarily smart.

wolfey hi i think root is just insane. Most murders usually feel some sort of guilt or emotion when they kill. Especially if it's out of anger, pent of rage, or just a need for validation. Murders done out of anger are also more not planned and messy. They tend to also be overkilled and the victims look distorted long after they are dead. Root is most likely a sociopath or psychopath based on how he was able to fake being upset when he really had no emotions or care about killing his brother and parents.

I caught onto it pretty quickly, I think it’s just. Cat is jealous as their sibling is getting attention, sets up a plan to kill their sibling, then use it as bait to get their father over there, then kill the father, then the mother. Their friend notices it and they start pretending to cry

I've noticed some have speculated Root has ASPD, aka, is a sociopath. I will investigate this theory myself. Allow me to explain, I've done some research on the condition.
You are somewhat born with ASPD. Causes are unknown, but some children are born with that little ASPD seed in their head. It all depends on whether it grows how heavy it affects them. A child, if they grew up with a trauma-free childhood meaning the "seed" never "grew", could live and die without a diagnosis. Usually, ASPD comes in a very minor amount, so most also live and die without diagnosis. Very rarely is it on the heavy end on the spectrum, which I believe is what were seeing from Root.
The growth of this ASPD seed has two parts. Traumatic childhood, and bad early I adult environment. Root already feels neglected and apart from her family, and got jealous when her only friend was friends with her other family, whom she felt disdain for.
But the one thing that interupts this theory is Pyro. She has a friend, someone she cares about. That's not possible if she were on the heavy end of the ASPD spectrum. So why does she feel emotionless committing murder?
Simple. Her family was nothing to her. Her whole life she wasn't one of them, not that she felt like it anyways, to the point where she just doesn't love them. Quite an extreme case of child neglect, which from personal experience, is actually possible with good parents too. Becoming completely swallowed in your own insecurities and malice, with nobody to help you or you haven't reached out to anyone, could drive you to this point. Root simply just doesn't murdering others that don't matter to her for her own benefit.
TL;DR: Does Root have ASPD? No. She's just very selfish and heartless and will hurt people she doesn't care about if it benefits her.
Why is no one appreciating how much research, time and effort this analysis took?!

A bit late but on a rewatch I am just realising now that at 2:25 Root is only able to kill her mother because Anise pauses just before she kills Root. Not sure if this was your intention but I think that is pretty cool and very morbid

This is an amazing pmv about isolation, neglect, and death, I especially like the manipulation and body anotamy attention to detail, the blood splatter with anise is very similar to what would actually happen, and I like the little details of burdock calling for root once, but calling for ginger 3 times, this entire pmv is original, from the deaths to the story, I I LOVE that!

This is really good too! The story is good too, Roots character and just snapping is a good concept and was executed really well. Then her convincing Pyro, her (only?) Friend that it was self defense is good too, it's really all put together.

I don't know if you remember my comment on the storyboard but turned out so well! It still sends chills just as it did before and seeing the story I seem to be right and still hold the belief she doesn't regret killing any of them. She got rid of Ginger because she already felt deeply jealous of them (although it does seem that maybe Ginger cared for Root as they were the only looking for her and when we saw the dad looking he only called for Root once but its still very iffy with the lack of information/ But I at least hope and like to believe it).
She wouldn't care even more so if she could leader of whatever group her dad lead. Pyro is her only friend and I feel like she knew and used that relationship with him to cover up murdering three cats.
Do I think Roots jealous? In all ways to say yes. Yeah
Do I think she's stupid? No. Odd but no, even if Pyros her friend she played him well enough to make him believe murdering three people, in the dead of night, AWAY from everyone else is a whole accident of self-defense and probably more. It's just my guess and feel free to disagree and but she is scarily smart.
