I quit smoking, I don't drink alcohol anyway, I'm happy for that, but when I have a nicotine crisis, I don't care and I get angry at myself for not smoking. This feeling pisses me off, you understand? Think of it this way, someone who has never eaten chocolate does not want chocolate. But even if someone who knows the taste of chocolate decides not to eat it anymore, he sometimes remembers it and feels like crap. I want to tell people who smoke that you can stop smoking whenever you want. You are stronger than your addiction. I also want to say to non-smokers that if you start smoking, it will be very difficult for you to quit. If you're really determined, you can do it, but for the rest of your life, a piece of you will always be missing. Non-smokers don't understand this. they accuse smokers of being stupid. No, they are not stupid. Imagine that you just stopped drinking water. Of course water is healthy and you need it to live, but addiction is addiction. You shouldn't smoke because you want be able to quit when you want, but because you will sometimes feel shit for the lack of it throughout your life!

My grandpa smoked his whole life pretty much, I was still rly young but I recall him standing in the balcony and smoking while I drank pepsi, then he quit a few years later when I was maybe like 9 and he was doing pretty fine until this year he died of covid and other respiratory problems so uh

This song is such a comfort for me since my mom has always been a heavy smoker.
I used to often ask, even beg her to stop smoking because I was so worried about her. She always shut me down saying it's not that bad and I'm overreacting. So I stopped asking her, I still cried because of it sometimes and it hurts to this day every time I hear her cough, but I have to keep quiet if I don't wanna provoke an argument.
I never dared to touch a cigarette. I never wanted to become like my mom and I never want to. I've often been made fun of it. I don't like going to parties anymore since every bottle and every cough reminds me of my mom and it hurts me every time I see a Marlboro packet.

I see this as like a oldest sibling finding out that the youngest sibling actually gets affected by past trauma and took the coping mechanism that they saw from the oldest sibling and the oldest sibling feels guilty and tries getting them to stop this addiction before it’s too late and the oldest sibling realizing that it is already too last this is how I see it

my parents have been smoking since ive had memory, after almost living for 13 years my mom is just now stopping and my dad is still. i also know that they have been smoking years before they were married (i think) and i hate it and the way i get sick yet comfortable around the smoke.
My mum has always smoked. Every day she coughs up her freaking lungs and the sound of coughing now triggers me because I have to cover my ears. Smoking isn’t “cool”, “hot”, “pog”, or any of the three. Instead it’s disgusting, can have major health complications, and can terrify other people. Anytime I see smoke I start to freak out kind of and my mum complains that I have asthma. Life as a smoker’s kid isn’t fun, you don’t get free cigarettes or stuff like that, instead your parents look forward to getting their wages just to buy a new pack of cigarettes, not even looking forward to their wages so they can get something else like some nice clothes, it’s all just cigarettes cigarettes cigarettes. I really need new clothes because all my white t shirts are non existent and instead look really yellow and stink of smoke. We have to paint the doors almost monthly at this point because the white on them also goes yellow. I just wish there was a way it could stop

Each person is different and it’s literally a biological fact that how prone u are to getting addicted to substances is due to your genetics. So unless you go around testing people, don’t say “you can’t get addicted” of “it takes once a week” because each person’s body is different, meaning responses to nicotine can vary

My grandfather was a smoker throughout almost his whole life. Started in his early teens and followed him all the way to his elderyhood. He died of lung cancer when I was 12. I remember when I was a little kid he would always tell me and my sister to never smoke cigarettes and that you will regret it if you do. My aunt won’t even stop smoking during her pregnancies. We’ve told her about the consequences. All of her children have been born prematurely and underweight. One gets pneumonia constantly (my mom is adopting him luckily and he’s gotten sick less now that he’s away from my aunt’s secondhand smoke). Another had to be airlifted to the children’s hospital after she was born. As most of the other comments have said on this video, just don’t smoke. Maybe you don’t care about your own health but it hurts your loved ones, too. Emotionally AND physically.

I interpret this song as someone who struggled with addiction in the past and this song represents what’s going on in their head. The female voice being the voice telling them that it was in the past, and a few more doesn’t hurt, hence the line “it’s just a cigarette and it cannot be that bad” or “it’s just a cigarette like you always used to do” the male voice being the voice of reason telling them that they shouldn’t. In the past, maybe high school or college, this person started smoking to be cool, hence the line “I was different then I don’t need them to be cool”. I hope this makes sense.

I‘m so proud of her that she managed to get away from them and her lungs regenerated, although she had started to smoke at the age of 16.

I remember my uncle was a smoker because he was depressed and my grandparents were very hard on him when he talked about his depression. This makes me remember about my classmates from middle school.
I was in 7th grade, it was winter, and i walked with four of my classmates around our school, when suddenly, we meet another girl from our class. We all knew she was smoking since the 6th grade, but what had surprised me was that two of the persons i was with talked with her to give them some cigarettes (i didn't know since then that they are smoking) and they wanted to infulence me and the other two classmates to smoke.
It was me, a girl and a boyfriend, of the ones who smoked. Me and that guy refused straightforward to smoke, but the girl tried a smoke after the other classmates said: "it's just a smoke, you can quit aftewards, just tryyyy, it would be fun!" And they started to make fun of me and that guy calling us fearfull of everything.
After that incident i didn't know how to react: I should have tried one? Are people just paranoid or you really can't stop smoking after you try once?!
I decided to talk to my parents about the hole thing and they showed me lungs after smoking (ew).
That girl who was influenced by those classmates is now obssesed with cigarettes and the worst part is that she is so unconscious about the bad effects of it.
Conclusion: don't smoke kids, it's not trendy, people can have a impression about you pretty badly.If you do it only because of your friends then it is not worth it. They are not your friends, true friends are the ones who are you confortable to be yourself with. You don't need to do something just to impress them bc if they can't apreciate you for who you are, then they would never see your efforts to be around them anyways and the only thing you will remain with is this addiction.

I hate that because those classmates bullied people in front of our teachers and they didn't say ANYTHING. They were always favored, that's why i hated middle school.
For example, i remember i was in math class and i went to the white board to solve a problem and those classmates (they asked our teacher if they could take their seats and move in front of the board to see more clearly, even trough they didn't know anything about math)
And they started saying i am stupid and etc and the teacher didn't say anything.When i respond in the same way they talked to me IT WAS MY FAULT.
Hopefully, i am in a serious High School where the teachers really care about their students now

My uncle was unaware he had lung cancer due to smoking until it had already gotten to stage 4 and thanks to that he ended up having a stroke about 2 months ago that sent him into a vegetative state. He died a few weeks ago.
