During the iowa record the band was going through some of their darkest moments in their lives anywhere from family members passing to severe depression and drug/alcohol abuse and corey taylor who is the singer was so far gone into alcohol abuse and depression he would cut himself while recording vocals during this album hence "bloods on my face and my hands and i dont know why"
