Something was burning hotter in him than usual, and it makes a contender for one of the best concerts of all time. Incredible stuff.

This video changed my life forever. I was into my 4th year learning guitar and i was into metal and metal only. Then 1 day a friend brought by this video. At first after looking at the box i told my friend "you know i hate country" cause of the name on the box and the hat that i was looking at. My friend said just watch 1 song then we can do something else. Well just a few seconds into the song till the end of the video of everyone screaming for more i was paralized at what i just saw. My friend needed a snow shovel to pick my jaw off the floor. From that point on metal was dropped and SRV and blues became my focus.
odudi Nice story odudi! I play a lot of rock and alternative music.and i loved it,just 4 chords and Some riffs in between. Then i met srv ........ I only play srv from that day on.

Scott Matheson Ive been playing for 23 years now , and just About now i think i can play Some great tunes. You know, there are a lot of musicians that I like which I'll never get to see live because they've passed away, and for the most part I'm fine with it, their performances are still here on UA-cam or anywhere else on the internet, and that's enough for me. With Stevie Ray Vaughan, though, everytime I see him playing live, I just wish from the bottom of my heart that I could've seen him, just one single time and it would have been enough for the rest of my life. He was a great player and he inspires me everytime I hear him.
Bro stevie makes me feel alive. He was put here to be a bad mamma jamma and that's what he did. Then he got sober abd died in a horrific freak accident. Sucks so bad

Once I discovered this show I watched countless times ! I think it’s the best guitar performance I’ve ever seen ! And I’ve seen a lot of them ! This show he was dead on it almost looks like sometimes he has to slow himself down so the guitar can catch up! I’m not a musician but I love music ! Probably sounds crazy but to me that’s just what it looks like this particular show !
That entire performance was absolutely devoid of a single missed note. No string slipped off the end of a fret. No errors anywhere. It's absolutely uncanny. I'm talking about the whole show, not just this song. If you just listen to the audio only you can't even tell when he's playing behind his back. I saw him live. It was amazing, obviously, but this particular show is absolutely unnatural.
never saw him live...but agree. Have watched El Macombo over and over...its just totally ON. I feel it all coming through the music and tone. I can't imagine what it felt like to be 15ft away watching it.

Lol you wouldn't get away with that nowadays, naming a music festival after a brand of cigarettes. When I smoked I was always a Benson and hedges guy myself. It makes sense SRV would play at something called that. He always had a cigarette with him on stage. As you can see in this video. He puts it between the strings on the headstock to keep it in place. It's a tone-cigarette. Like tone-wood, cigarettes add brilliant tone to the guitar, as long as they're good quality cigarettes. OK that was a bad joke but you know what I mean

The rhythm guitarist of an SRV tribute band (Pride & Joy) told me I HAD to get this tape. This was around 1992, south shore of Boston, and I forget his name (the lead guitarist was named Sam Gentile, great playa). He was absolutely right, the recording of this show is an historical document. RIP Stevie

Any time I watch this I think that theses guys in the audience are the real chosen people.
Good luck whistling this one
Bass... A great underrated guy!
Ahh and then so excited starts right after... blues legend.
Who remember clubs like this., Great rock and beers, loved that bar
I was there that night
Gone are the days of dirty dank bars with history, soul, and music embedded into the walls and floorboards. So few are left.
@@annechoyrocks you are so right ill miss the days
You can't beat this.
STEVIE IS MY SR-71 OF GUITARISTS. DOUBLE TROUBLE ARE THE ROCK SOLID FOUNDATION
TONE FOR DAYYYYYYYSSSSS 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Outrageous Guitar technique
Stevie made that strat sing this night..What a Fantastic show..!!... Love the Vibroverb tone
RIP Stevie
DAT TONE
shackyl : That’s the Word: Tone!💋
Even though I’m just listening to this, I have the same guitar face as Srv
