This man beautifully shredded the guitar for 9 minutes straight, eyes closed, even behind his back,, all while simultaneously delivering on point vocals. Insane
There's only one SRV and watching him shred those strings so magnificently is to my eyes and ears what a beautiful woman is to my manhood when we reach critical mass together. Watching SRV perform releases those same chemicals in my brain that snow does but without the drip.

My dad introduced me to SRV when I was a kid, and now I'm 23, I've been playing guitar for 15 years, and I don't think I can ever thank my dad enough for showing me this concert. This guy has become my absolute idol for music in general and has only strengthened my love for this instrument.
My dad also likes to watch this concert a lot, so if he sees this, I love you very much, old man.

I had just finished a tour in South Korea in Dec. 1986 while in the Army and a real good buddy pick me up from the airport in Louisville KY, and he drove me directly to Nashville TN to see Stevie Ray at the Opry House at what was Opryland back then. Best concert I ever attended, and that place was built for acoustics.
My dad was at that concert too!!! Whenever I'm asked what musician I wish I could have seen play live, SRV is the one.

When you watch it some 20 times you are like "This is even deeper than I thought", and then you watch it some 100 times and you know that this is literally one of best and most amazing blues songs and performances of all time.

I did see him live opening for Hughy fucking Lewis but they had to make him get off the stage, I have a hard time drying my back off with a towel and he can play that guitar with his shoulder blades as good as any one else can play in the front

I remember the day the radio announced the helicopter went down. I was near Port Arthur TX and it was a big deal.
I saw an interview of his tech saying he changed his strings after every show and had to play them to get them stretched to his exact request so that it was ready to go each show. It’s on the interwebs somewhere
No auto tune, No ear piece, No editing and nothing digital. This badass mofo known as Stevie Ray Vaughan showed up with a beat up strat, plugged in, turned the volume up to max and freaking blew the roof off of the house with his amazing guitar and vocal skills. An atomic explosion of absolute perfection. The greatest pure raw talent that ever existed. Thank God for SRV ❤❤❤❤

I’m with you my friend. I’m a 61 year old blues player to my core. I’m actually surprised that I even knew what auto tune is. I’m damn sure that the limited effects (tube screamer / wah wah pedals) that SRV used have rarely been used at an eardrum busting level. Gotta love it

All instruments are needed in different music scenarios.That is, if you know how to play them, feel the rhythm and have a soul that vibrates to the fuckin notes and silence between them man. WAKE THE FUCK UP. whoever wants to make music into science will be smacked over the head by talented musicians notes like Stevie's for instance and make them realise they know and feel nothing at all. Many hear music little listen and music isn't for the "many" anyway.

I literally remember the exact moment I first heard SRV and it was a guy watching this VHS tape in a dorm room down the hall from mine, when I walked by three guys were standing in him room jaws on the floor while this song was coming out and I walked in and before I could even vocalize “who the vukk is this?!” I realized I was watching a legend being made. This was October 1993. Haven’t been the same person since. RIP SRV.
You would think after an intro that intense, he wouldn't have much left and nowhere to go for the rest of the song--and then he does this nuclear bomb performance that just comes out like he had it hiding behind his back all along. He is the greatest of all time for me.

Eric Clapton talks about this . He said Stevie was the only guitarist he knew that never got lost once . That even the greatest would still have times where the hit a dead end or dropped the thread but not Stevie . It's like he lived in the present and future at the same time

Best live blues performance I've ever seen. SRV had raw organic integration with the soul of music. His instincts are superb - feeling, intensity, subtlety, dexterity, and just the right amount of everything. He didn't overdo anything. Great judgement and sensibility.

As a regular at the El Mocambo, I had the pleasure of hearing him live. That one song alone felt like two hours. Never since, have I heard or seen anything close to this performance. Stevie strangled every single inch of that guitar. It is just what he did naturally.
I've read that his hands were so strong that he broke guitar necks with some frequency.

yeah I was wondering where this version went, easily the best version of Texas Flood, this was flawless, Stevie Ray Vaughan was an extremely gifted guitarist. I heard someone describe Stevie's way of playing as standing at the bottom of a mountain and walking straight up to the top. I have heard people play with this intensity but he could do it for such a long period that it was incredible.
Many can play the blues but not many can feel the blues like Stevie
Stevie Ray Vaughan was the greatest musician and singer ever. Wish I could have seen him play live. I call him "The Master of Blues Rockin Jazz". Genius! I so enjoy the opportunity to watch him on u-tube.💞

I read an interview with his guitar tech who said Stevie would sometimes have to glue his fingertips/callouses back on with super-glue. Search "stevie ray vaughan callouses"
