Another thing that can be sometimes confusing is different brands use different sizing values. The Japanese brands typically go in the 1000, 2500, 3000 and so on. Other brands like Abu (who is switching to the 1000's) or pfluger have sizes such as 20, 30, etc.

A better verbiage should have been spool and not reel. You can have two reeks that are the save physical size but are in fact "smaller" sizes, because of the spool.

What would you recommend for a guy who strictly throws soft plastics on a Texas rig, and my target fish are largemouth up to 10 lbs? Lately I feel like the fish are overpowering my current spinning reel. Thanks
