I love that you started this beginning series for those that need help. Even for us old hats its still nice to hear and remember the basics. Plus I have to watch all the videos to be part of the 100% watch squad.
Hey Hank, good job on this one! I believe the the more straightforward & easy you keep these breakdowns the easier the decisions will be for newer anglers. It can be a bit overwhelming at times even for us that have been at for awhile. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to this series for sure. #100percentwatchsquad👊
#100percentwatchsquad If you're a beginner, then don't worry about spending a lot on a good combo. Just get a fairly cheap one. At this point you don't really even know how to use it. But that will come, so don't sweat it.
Great info Hank, I started with a 7’ MH/F rod & a 6.8:1 bait caster, now I have rods up to 7’6” even got a 8’ glide bait rod. Most my reels ar still 6.8:1 but I’ve added a couple 7.3:1 & a couple 7.5:1. My first combo was a good one to start with a 6’6” Abu Garcia black max with the 6.8:1 black max reel. Combo was $100. Great for the first time angler. Every brand has combos in that same price range that will get new anglers started.
Great video buddy! Appreciate you sharing information on the rods and reels. Keep up the good work my friend. Looking forward to more great content and adventures. As always, #BassGeek rocks!!!
Great info for beginners. I read and hear positive feedback on TFO rods, the lower end priced rod is very popular. My next rod purchase will definitely be a TFO. #100percentwatchsquad
I'm just getting into making a fishing channel for my son's. They love fishing and want to do what you are!! Your content is awesome one of the best in my opinion. Has helped me land my PB
Great info Hank, but where the hell was this video 2 years and 50+ rods ago?! Lol. My first decent combo was a Walmart special. $98 Lew's Xfinity combo in a 7' MH Fast action that was a sweet outfit. I would still put it against some of my higher end combos today. Keep up the great work bro. #100percentwatchsquad.
Looking forward to this series! I've collected a ton of baits over the last 4-5 years; however, I'm not confident in my baitcasting set-ups as I was bought what I could during the lockdown. Looking forward to reviewing your recommendations. Thanks for all your insights, Hank!
THSNK YOU! ive been all over you tube lookin for somthing like this ...simple to the point, i can always try different lines and typed, to grt whst grels best to me...line is alot chesper than rods, lol😊
Another great video! I remember and still have my first combo, Abu Garcia classic reel 5:3 and 6’6” med/heavy rod got it over 30 years ago and still use the reel for my deep diving crank baits lol 😂 keep it up and we will keep watching! You always have some good tips no matter what your experience level is!
Id say 7-7'3" medium power fast action rod with a 30, 300, 3000(all the same essentially depends on brand) spinning reel with 10-15lb braid to a 8-12lb leader of fluoro or mono. 2nd combo- same in length and power/action for baitcasting rod and a 7.1-1 to 7.5 gear ratio baitcasting reel with 15lb mono(if beginner) or 15lb fluoro and 30lb braid main line and if using braid then use the flouro or mono leader 12-17lb leader. 3rd combo medium heavy baitcasting rod 7'3-7'6" fast action and a 7.5 baitcasting reel 30-40lb braid and pending on lures you want to use then go straight braid for punching, flipping, frogging and pending the cover your fishing, and then leader 15-20 maybe 25 in mono or fluoro leader.
abu garica black max makes is a good combo. I started out with shakespeare combos and used them for years until i was sure i wanted to keep fishing and upgraded to Lewis and Pflueger.
Great Beginner Series!! Like how you're keeping it simple with good explanations!! Lew's has the Mach 2 for just over $100. Nice Med rod with mod action. Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
Great video Hank, looking forward to the whole series. I have over done it so bad completely forgot the basics. I really like Lews across the board even thought I have many others...LOL Your wife sound just like mine. #100percentwatchsquad.
Great information. My rod picks would be Okuma TCS rods or Dixe Custom rods. Both are excellent and don’t break the bank. Reels, I like Shimano, they have you covered at any price point.
Shimano SLX rods, SLX XT bait caster, and Miravel spinning reels are my favorite beginner selections. They are a little more than you're recommending, but I feel like they don't leave you wanting to upgrade. I have some $50 rods/reels, and I almost immediately wanted something better.
There is something to be said about having a high-end combo in your hands. Fishing is supposed to be fun. And fishing with high-end combos really ups the fun factor for me.
Just dive in and start building them, you'll save money and get exactly what you didn't even know you needed🤣 13 fishing Defy black rods and origin C reels (on sale often) are pretty solid budget gear.
The Daiwa Aird X fishes like a rod that cost two times as much. At least the casting rod does. You can't go wrong with the Dobyns Fury, but I really like my Dobyns Champion Extreme HP. #100percentwatchsquad
Aight guys, im getting back into fishing after a 10 year hiatus, looking for a 2nd baitcaster settup for weighted baits/jigs. I have a fishing kayak and already have a 6'6" rod. Looking for combo price at or under 200. Annnnnnd GO lol ty
Man It would be really hard to beat the ones in the description. Look at the Daiwa Arid X rods. They are on the softer side so pay attention to lure weight. Then a Lew’s LFS which retails for 99 but is on sale for like 76 on TW
Got three combo 5'10" medium moderate 6'.6" medium fast, 7' medium heavy fast or extra fast for big swimming baits. I can do all my Bank fishing 🎣 with that is my money card. Spinning combo or baitcaster ok maybe that me. Every rod under $100 I just started Bass fishing last year. Having fun trying to figure this out but don't want to spend $10,000 or more money. Is ben around $1,500 around and got all of my rod combo's- backpack 50% off this is can be expensive stuff watch IT for the clearance.
I love that you started this beginning series for those that need help. Even for us old hats its still nice to hear and remember the basics. Plus I have to watch all the videos to be part of the 100% watch squad.
Hahaha no you don’t have to watch them all just the new ones when they come out.

Thanks I just want to make things simple

I’ll give that an AMEN!

Nice thanks for sharing and great one to start with
Great video for all the newbies. I sent this to a few friends that have been thinking about starting to fish, but were overwhelmed.
Lol right ive found its best to just take them to the store tho
Great video buddy! Appreciate you sharing information on the rods and reels. Keep up the good work my friend. Looking forward to more great content and adventures. As always, #BassGeek rocks!!!
I’ve been being asked to do a bi-gender series for a while so I just thought I would put it out
Great info for beginners. I read and hear positive feedback on TFO rods, the lower end priced rod is very popular. My next rod purchase will definitely be a TFO. #100percentwatchsquad
It’s very worth your time
I'm just getting into making a fishing channel for my son's. They love fishing and want to do what you are!! Your content is awesome one of the best in my opinion. Has helped me land my PB

Great time to purchase a better quality starter setup. Look at model’s being replaced. American Legacy fishing has the Daiwa Fuego buy on get one!

Hahahaha we all do
Another great video! I remember and still have my first combo, Abu Garcia classic reel 5:3 and 6’6” med/heavy rod got it over 30 years ago and still use the reel for my deep diving crank baits lol 😂 keep it up and we will keep watching! Heck yeah that’s cool
Yal 13 fishing has $80 casting and spinning reels for $20 right now..I have 3 and they are really nice
Their rods are awesome ! I’ve got several at different price points and love them all . The Fate Black and Defy Black are great rods for short money
Heck yeah!
Rods are a lot like wizard wands 😂
Truth!
Id say 7-7'3" medium power fast action rod with a 30, 300, 3000(all the same essentially depends on brand) spinning reel with 10-15lb braid to a 8-12lb leader of fluoro or mono.

I like it! Good Picks!
Can't go wrong with Lew's Combos
Nope
Every 3 turns of the handle, either way another good video and that's a good series. Not everybody has been fishing all their life
Very true
Abu Garcia Black Max baitcaster and an Ugly Stick GX2 spinning combo...GO!! #100percentwatchsquad You rock big guy. 🤘😎🎣
Great combo
Thanks Geek. Been fishing a good while and still need this.
It’s good to revisit
abu garica black max makes is a good combo. I started out with shakespeare combos and used them for years until i was sure i wanted to keep fishing and upgraded to Lewis and Pflueger.
I started with Shakespere also. Love'em.
Great Beginner Series!! Like how you're keeping it simple with good explanations!! Lew's has the Mach 2 for just over $100. Nice Med rod with mod action. Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
Thanks and nice info!
Love Lews but for the money the LFS reel is a way better option
Great video Hank, looking forward to the whole series. I have over done it so bad completely forgot the basics. I really like Lews across the board even thought I have many others...LOL Your wife sound just like mine. #100percentwatchsquad.
HahahabIt should be fun I hope

Spinning you can get some good reels at that 50-75 but casting ehhhhh
Those are great choices right there. You can't go wrong with those selections
You know what they say Hank, big brains equals girthy hats 😜 as always YOU ROCK 🤘🎣💙
Hahahahaha
I wish someone would have helped me out when I was new to fishing like this video. #100percentwatchsquad
Thanks I’m trying 😂
Hank you left out the 3 best ever reels….zebco 202,303 & 404. 😂😂😂😂. Great information. 💯%er here. Green goblin looking good
Thanks LOL Zebco..
Great video, that's the same rods I started with definitely can't go wrong with them 3 variations.
Good solid start
I feel these videos are important to make but they are always my worst performing videos. Hope you're doing great man
Nope this one has sucked but It’s an evergreen
There is something to be said about having a high-end combo in your hands. Fishing is supposed to be fun. And fishing with high-end combos really ups the fun factor for me.
It does but there are some good 200 casting combos that are great bang for the buck
I love my bass pro shops pro qualifier rod 7ft medium heavy and I put a shimono slx on it and I still use it to this day
100%watchsquad
I do like the PQ's
@@BassGeek there a little soft but it gets the job done
The reels are good to
Bass Pro Shops MegaCast baitcaster is like $60 and it a good little reel easiest one to set up and used for a beginner that I have found.
Heck yeah good stuff!
Just dive in and start building them, you'll save money and get exactly what you didn't even know you needed🤣
13 fishing Defy black rods and origin C reels (on sale often) are pretty solid budget gear.
Good stuff I’ve never been able to save building them but I might be doing it wrong lol
Bass geek.......good stuff brother. What rod socks do you use again?
Those are TRC’s
The Daiwa Aird X fishes like a rod that cost two times as much. At least the casting rod does. You can't go wrong with the Dobyns Fury, but I really like my Dobyns Champion Extreme HP. #100percentwatchsquad

Yup it’s true you can get some great deals if ya watch. It’s just whatever works for you in the end
Good stuff 100
Thank you
Do you prefer baitcasters with triggers, or without? What about 2 piece vs 1 piece handles?
I do like a trigger. A one piece will always have more sensitivity but if I’m traveling or bank fishing a two peace can be VERY handy
Thanks!@@BassGeek

Thanks you

Yeah
