yes, this is exactly why it's my favorite ride, especially in the rain. you never wait and the song is so catchy, I find myself humming it now and then.
It's April 23, 2020 as I'm typing this now. In the middle of this pandemic, I'm getting a little teary-eyed listening to this. Here's to a beautiful tomorrow, everyone.
palmfrond Progress extends far beyond the year. Beyond our lives. It connects us with those lifetimes ago, and those lifetimes in the future. We all help make that progress.
@@palmfrond Today is May 30, 2020. The Space X day. I saw lots of posts and they remind me of this song. And, that is true, even in 2020, there will be a big great beautiful day tomorrow. Deeply touched seeing your message posted even one month ago of this happens and seeing your faith in this!
@@JavierPerez-cx4jw I'm 63 years old and I saw it (and It's a Small World) at the NY World's Fair when I was 7, in 1964. Check your math, you young whippersnapper!
So did I, Nate! And as I live in Southern California, I was thrilled to find out it was moving to Disneyland after the fair was over. Also saw It's A Small World there. I bet you did, too! I was seven at the time. Perfect age for Disney Magic. That and Mary Poppins in the same summer was almost too much for my little 7-yr-old heart to handle!
Same here! I only just got to ride the Carousel for the first time a few years ago, but since then this has been one of my favourite songs. It's a great song with a great message. One I think all kids ought to hear.
When I was a kid, I went to Disney with my grandma for a month, and my dad came down for one day and surprised me. All I remember is going on this ride with him and being the only two people on the entire ride. To this day, it is still my favorite memory, and this song still brings tears of joy to me eyes.
This sounds strange but this song brings me a homesickness for a era in which I was never born, I've only learned about it from parents or other relatives or history books. Does anyone ever feel this?
Noelle M It may not be in the same way as you, but yes it does. For me, it makes me homesick for a place where not everything is cynicism and darkness. I miss a world where people looked at progress, and every achievement, no matter how novel or how silly it might be to us looking back (If you've seen those old movie clips of "new" inventions) was a sign that things were improving. Not many people reach for that anymore. If you haven't seen the movie Tomorrowland, that's actually what the movie itself is taking a jab at.
+Noelle M I know exactly how you feel ..there are people who like this show only because of the air conditioning.. there is a longing at times for the past and future.. How awesome it is when you bring family including Grandparents and Great grandparents and they can identify with each time period..
+Noelle M I can't believe this, I used to think that I was the only one who felt this way! There's only one bit of advice I can give you, though. I can only advise you, that if you love this era so much just as I do, and you love it enough that you would be willing to trade everything you have now to live in that era, then the only thing you can do is you have to live in that era today! You can only be that special person who tries to change this era to the one you love, and if that's not possible, then at least look at this era in ways of how it is the era you desire. You, of course, aren't the only one who put in their efforts to reclaim this era, we are always beside you doing the same. Soon enough, you'll get people who used to have no intention in doing this. I've already gotten a few friends to appreciate this era as it should be. I try to apply this every day, and I urge you to do the same! Don't hesitate to style yourself from and live in the mid-20th century era in the era you live now!
This is the kind of "old-style" song, which, while I can't exactly define what kind of music genre it is, has the distinct "chorus" singing, which was very common for songs from the early to mid-20th century.
XiiCubed I miss this outlook on the future. There used to be so much hope. Now it feels like everyone is predicting Armageddon in a few years. Especially in our movies - all the big "hits" are about post-apocalyptic worlds.
+XiiCubed good points! We live in a really negative society today. Morals are being demolished as we speak. Nobody is excited for anything, our systems have become corrupt, nobody thinks things through, they're too busy looking for approval from the media or other people who are insignificant. I hate to be THAT person, but sometimes I truly feel like I was born in the wrong era. We came through difficult times and patches (WW I & II, the depression, etc,) but man, people had such a bright outlook on life and their futures. We've lost hope now. Like +ztslovebird said, look at our films and shows now, they're mostly dark and have a hopeless plot. Now look back to the films, music, and books of the '20s - '60s... a majority of them had a positive vibe, or at least a happy ending...
I am SO GLAD that this ride has remained as walt intended it. this is one of my all time favorites at WDW. ever since i was 4 years old. every time i go to disney this is one of my destination attractions
I remember this from the 1964 Worlds Fair in Flushing Meadows. It was in the GE Pavillion at the time, the first time Disney rolled out their "Animatronics" there, the UN Pavillion (It's a Small World), the Illinois Pavillion (Hall of Presidents), and the Sinclair pavillion with Dinosaurs. I was lucky, my parents took my brothers and I to the Fair maybe 20 times. Funny, I can't remember what I did yesterday but I remember the Worlds Fair. Thanks for taking me down memory lane.

Been to Disney 9 times, as I’m a Florida resident so it made it easy, but never missed out on this work of art each time I went. Even as a child, one of my favorite experiences of all at Disney. Also remind me of my wonderful grandfather. Much love
I think I'm the only 14 year old that goes on Carousel Of Progress to actually see the attraction. A lot of people just go because there's no line and its air conditioned. But I go because I've been going on it since I was 2-3. It brings back memories and I'll always love this ride.
Two years ago my family went to Disney World and this was the first ride we rode. Although it wasn't my favorite it will always have a place in my heart. 😊 'Just a Dream Away'

One of the best rides at Disney, period. If you don't like it, you don't understand it. I HATED this ride as a kid, but I've come to appreciate it strongly. The Carousel better not be destroyed, it would be a travesty.
Don't worry, I highly doubt it'll happen. In fact, it was almost closed permanently in the early 90s so it could be replaced with a planned flying saucers ride for that spot. However, due to budgetary reasons, upgrading the Carousel of Progress was a cheaper option. Man, that's a relief!
When the Carousel of Progress was in Disneyland Anaheim, it was sponsored by General Electric. Been gone for decades. Most of the attractions had sponsors: Monsanto- Inner Space, Sunkist on Main Street, Casa de Fritos restaurant, Pepsi- Golden Horseshoe Saloon, General Dynamics- Trip to the Moon, Richfield- Autopia, Goodyear- People Mover, off the top of my head.
If you want a relaxing attraction to rest your feet and cool off THIS is the one for you! :D! One of my top favorites! Sad to know that Dland doesn't have theirs anymore :(. Hopefully WDW isn't crazy and keeps theirs.
You get to sit in an air conditioned theater for half an hour and there's never a line.
OMG yes! There's never a line and it's super cool in the theater. Definitely me favorite show/ride. ❤️
its a 20 minute ride 5 minuute every scene

NEVER EVER a line, it only stinks when the ride gets stuck and you have to watch the same part again

Now this is a legendary comment!
way to call me out, hahaha
But Chegg is a anything
I'm literally listening to this while writing an essay and ended up putting some of the lyrics in my essay. After rambling about the Age of Discovery and the Space Race then making a reference to the opening lines of Star Trek.
This Carousel of progress ride brought me to this song
This is really inspirational if you're ever having doubts of your future
This ride is always so fun for me, I miss siting there and singing with the robot homies, one COVID is gone I hope I can experience it again but for now I’ll enjoy the nostalgia and vibe
This was my favorite ride growing up. I had the pick of any ride in Disney world and I always preferred this. There’s just something about it
what I love the best about this show is the time period of American history.. It's not even a question of how old or young one is, everyone will enjoy this show.. ...
Do your best, America!
🕯🕯Rest in Peace, Mr. Richard M Sherman. Once upon a time, you gave us, with your dear brother, a great big beautiful tomorrow. Just a song away. (June 12th 1928 - May 25th 2024) ⚙⚙
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
And tomorrow's just a dream away
Man has a dream and that's the start
He follows his dream with mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true for you and me
So there's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away
Got on this ride at Disney, amazing !!
i love this ride!! one of me faves..
God, I love this song.
This is one of my son's favorites
:D there's a great big beautiful tomorrow for u n me!!!!
There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of everyday
One of the best rides at Disney, period. If you don't like it, you don't understand it. I HATED this ride as a kid, but I've come to appreciate it strongly. The Carousel better not be destroyed, it would be a travesty.
Don't worry, I highly doubt it'll happen. In fact, it was almost closed permanently in the early 90s so it could be replaced with a planned flying saucers ride for that spot. However, due to budgetary reasons, upgrading the Carousel of Progress was a cheaper option. Man, that's a relief!
Keep moving forward!
If they ever close this ride, I WILL sue
i was at carousel of progress at 4th of July in 2017, the best part is that there weren't a line to wait!
This song has cheered me up in many bad times.....disney fan for life
Love love love this ride!!!
If you want a relaxing attraction to rest your feet and cool off THIS is the one for you! :D! One of my top favorites! Sad to know that Dland doesn't have theirs anymore :(. Hopefully WDW isn't crazy and keeps theirs.
or, we could replace it with Frozen
The one in WDW IS the one from DL! They moved it :)
They could never get rid of the carousel of progress it was at the worlds fair
@@bernebelmont1857 Or we could not because Frozen is a terrible movie
They turned Disneyland’s version into America sings when COP was moved then America sings closed
Everyone I hear this song something just about it makes me happy it makes me feel wonderful and I don't know why
damn this hits from the past
Me in class on a Friday: there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of everyday.
