My first exposure to Martyn was 3rd Life, it wasn't until he was on the Imp&Skizz Podcast that I learned he was such an OG in the Minecraft community, being a part of Yogscast, as I avoided Minecraft in its heyday because it was trendy.
Was re-watching my childhood movies, and when I re-watched Wreck-it Ralph, in the deepest ends of my mind, a memory popped out of nowhere, and all of a sudden I was singing lyrics to a song I thought I never heard. Then, it clicked, it was like magic, and faster than tankman could say ugh I was searching for this song on UA-cam, and when I clicked the video, a huge wave of nostalgia hit me, and i felt like a kid again, watching this on my Xbox 360 in a rainy Saturday night. Dude I watched this video back when I was a complete noob at the game. Hell, I didn't even know how to craft a pickaxe then. I swear, I've seen these videos when they were very new and it still surprises me how I still know this song.
Dislikes are there because at the same time this came out, Yogcast did a gofund me to make a game, raise a HUGE amount of money but they later cancelled the project and kept every cent. They later released a trash demo that didn't even represent 2% of the money raised . Greedy bastards , but oh well

It was a late summer evening in 2013 when me and my brother discovered Minecraft songs on UA-cam. It was an experience I cannot explain. The music, Lyrics and the visuals were just incredible. I felt like I had made the most amazing discovery in my life. Something about the songs connected so perfectly with my 10 year old self. I was obsessed. I would spend hours watching Minecraft song compilation videos. It brought me so much happiness. Almost 10 years later, I come back to visit these songs that made my childhood so special. The nostalgia hitting me and my emotions like a speeding freight train. The memories, The joys of being a kid. The countless hours watching and playing Minecraft. It all came back, just like it did 10 years ago. I want to go back.
Same man. My friend showed me TNT and I looked up more parodies on youtube. Me and my siblings were always listening to Minecraft parodies and songs after that. We would wake up every morning and go to our grandparent's bedroom to just watch the latest Stampy or Dantdm video or listen to some minecraft parodies. The classics are always so nostalgic and beautiful to listen to. they are some of my most cherished memories

@Alec Joly I have a theory. Remember "Screw the Nether"? Well, he regretted going in the Nether. So I think this Green Shirt Guy wrecked the portal. And then for a long time, he forgot about it and it's only on the background.
I really do miss those days of having to either look up recipes, consulting a book guide, or asking your friends. It really forged a sense of community. Obviously the recipe book is best, especially with the incredible amount of new things to craft and for accessibility's sake, but god do I miss the old days where you'd have to check up with the one friend who knows how to make a cake. Makes you wonder if there's a better way to do the recipe book: maybe it doesn't *tell* you how to make things, but if you have the items for it, it'll suggest it (or if you have all the items, maybe it'll put down a stencil with the silhouettes of the items/blocks you'll need?) and then when you've made it for the first time, it acts as it does currently. Just a thought
By the time I started playing the game this wasn't nearly as common as it used to be a lot of people mostly just use mods like not enough items although I didn't start using mods until the 1.7 days. However my first two versions of Minecraft were the Pocket edition back in 2012 Xbox 360 edition. Both of those versions showed the crafting recipe from java despite them not having crafting grids at the time. Please help me learn a lot of the crafting recipes by the time I play Java. However even back then around the 1.5 or 1.6 days I distinctly remember having to look up a 10-second video that just showed me how to craft a fence 😆
Yeah.. I remember just being a caveman playing the demo in an internet cafe when some guy saw what I was doing and taught me some of the basics especially crafting... Now I'm getting teary-eyed. Shouldn't have wasted my savings on something else... We didn't really have the actual technology or systems rather to be able to pay for stuff online, in my area at least.
There used to be knowledge books, but they didn’t release it in the final update (the update where the recipe book released) Knowledge books would unlock new recipes, and would be found in chests
Honestly I hate the recipe book, not because it’s bad but just because I’m more used to TMI/NEI/JEI Too Many Items / Not Enough Items / Just Enough Items

Dislikes are there because at the same time this came out,

Haha me too listened to it when i was like 5 or 7 i always listen to it with me and my friends still best song btw
Exactly bro. These is just something that’s makes these mincraft song so amazing. It brings be back to the golden days of UA-cam and Minecraft. @@SunYat-sen

0:19 to the right, you'll see an unfinished nether portal
Only a real Minecraft player would be able to see that, good on you.
@Alec Joly I have a theory.
Remember "Screw the Nether"?
Well, he regretted going in the Nether. So I think this Green Shirt Guy wrecked the portal. And then for a long time, he forgot about it and it's only on the background.
HOL UP
They probably demolished it after "screw the nether"
I NEVER SAW THAT FROM 5 YEARS!
@@zachattack1279 fences are horrible lol no blame there, it's like they swapped the recipes with the gate
There used to be knowledge books, but they didn’t release it in the final update (the update where the recipe book released)
Knowledge books would unlock new recipes, and would be found in chests
I used to have a wall full of item frames, a simple 3 by 3 to show people.
