      Ok hear me out. I figured this one out by accident from watching my cousins lay this stuff down as hunters. If you look up deer browse (deer attractant) seed is a lovely combination of daikon radish, turnip greens, broccoli rabe. etc. This stuff is mean to be cast on the ground and then just walk away. These greens grow like weeds with no attention. You can harvest at any stage really and have you seen the price of broccoli rabe?

      I have only had luck with rosemary and basil. My kitchen window gets the right amount of sun. I have a wall mounted planter and a window ledge garden. I regrow green onions all the time. I have summer savoury outside that is on its 3rd season; that's after freezing solid each winter! Trying my basil outside for the first time...wish me luck!

    Being old and growing up poor we used a TON of zucchini, so versatile. One of my favorite things was making faux pineapple with it. We would be the only kids that had "pineapple" chunks in our school lunches in the winter. 😁

    • @debiesubaugher
      @debiesubaugher Рік тому +4

      @@barbaraparland it's super simple, here's the recipe I use
      INGREDIENTS:
      4 qts cubed or shredded zucchini (16 cups)
      46 oz canned unsweetened pineapple juice
      1 1/2 cups bottled lemon juice
      3 cups sugar
      Throw everything into a pot and simmer for 20 minutes. Makes about 8 pints of you want to can it. My kids like to throw a diced jalapeño in sometimes.

    I am so pumped you posted these! I picked up my CSA farm share today and have 4 really large zucchini. Gonna make that loaf first, cause I was thinking about muffins. Just want to say thanks for saying meal prep for the stuffed zucchini recipe. No one in my family likes zucchini, so I’m gonna make these for my lunches. You save me at least once a week, and I am grateful.
    There are golden zucchini, BTW.
    Last thing, last week I made yellow squash tater tots and they were amazing! I’m thinking this week I’ll add some old bay and make them more like crab cakes, cause they had that consistency.

    I make the fritters with regatta cheese that are either homemade or by Clyde Hill and I just spray them with a little avocado oil I don't fry them and they are to die for put a little lemon zest on top

      thank you so much! love that such a simple thing a remind us of things. My mom used to always tap her spatula against her pot when trying to remove ingredients. i do it all the time now and the sound makes me smile as i remember her doing it.😂❤️

    Well, the fritters really have to be worth it if you went the extra mile to squeeze the water out even though you were not keen to do so for the first one :D The looked bomb, that's for sure!

    Thank you for giving us a gluten-free option. BTW I had messaged you and your wife on your Dairy Free IG page. My first question about turning your Walnut taco recipe into a bolognese sauce and if I still needed to soak it? Yes, I realized I still needed to. And it turned out BEAUTIFULLY! Thanks for the idea.

    Many vegetables are fruit, zucchini, pumpkin, spaghetti squash any other squash or gourd, peppers, chiles, tomatoes, tomatillos, eggplant and many many more. They are fleshy things that hold seeds. That doesn't make them any less a vegetable.

    Cauliflower = White Broccoli... I about spit out my coffee laughing when you said that! 1 cup of cooked zucchini gives us 30% of our RDA in Vitamin C and 16% of our Potassium. It also does OK in Vitamin A and Folate! All that goodness makes for a good mailbox stuffer... MOM! :). Believe in good.... PEEEEEEEEEEEACE!

    Hey Andrew .. looks good but honestly can you taste the zucchini.. Can I substitute it .??

    • @thenarddogcooks
      @thenarddogcooks  Рік тому

      Zucchini has a real neutral flavor. The difference between it and ice is its green, has a little texture (that you cant tell in any of the recipes) and has more nutrients. depending on the recipe, say like the boats, you can sub for bell peppers or something like that.
