In some senses it is, since it is using realtime raytracing and those "just spheres" are in fact mirror balls with lots of tiny reflective surfaces on them ;) Which is not something you can do in every GPU renderer. Not to forget the other two scenes that narrativ created too which are very different. Thanks for watching the video! Tom
It should be fully supported already for materials, with the exception being working with the sky. If you are finding it doesn't work in 12 HF 1 with materials, best thing to do is send in a ticket since the support team can't monitor UA-cam comments (support.chaos.com/requests/new ), and if it refers to working solely with the sky or environment, I don't believe that has changed in this release. Hope this helps! Tom
Will it be possible to edit materials (Inside 3ds max) when Chaos Vantage gets a Live link? Now I have to re-export the scene every time after changing the materials
Yes, the intention with Live Link is that any (or most) changes you make in your DCC will be pushed over to Vantage. OFC being a Live Link, it doesn't save the file in Vantage since it's live, so once you are happy with a result you could always export to Vantage again (unless you just want to use Vantage for rendering and don't need the scene in Vantage, in which case you can use the other planned aspect of Live Link which is to use Vantage as the render engine). Hope this helps! Tom
Hey guys. please explain to me what exactly the CS_shadow render elements supposed to do. And how can i have a shadow pass with wich i can add shadows in post. Thank you.
See docs.chaos.com/display/CRMAX/Render+Elements , which has the info "CShading_Shadows - Shows the shadows (energy subtracted from the image due to shadow ray occlusion). This is the complement to the beauty element, showing white where there are black shadows. If this element is linearly added to the beauty pass, it negates the visible shadows. Note that the shadows from environment lighting are always shown, resulting in a washed-out element in typical interior renders. " Thus, you layer this with a Subtract mode in order to add shadows to an element without them (or use Add mode to weaken shadows). If you need more information, best bet is to open a ticket at support.chaos.com/requests/new, or post on the forums where the community can also help out under one of the "I Need Help" sections (there's one for Max, and one for C4D) over on the forums at forum.corona-renderer.com/. Hope this helps!
@@ChaosCorona Hi Tom, I mean, when your team record the video inside Max or Vantage, they use a 2K or 4K resolutions. Then you compress all the entire footage at 1080p. In this way, text and icons are super small, sometime blurred due to UA-cam compression. Especially if you watch the video in small laptop screen or, even worse, smartphone. So, please change temporarily the resolution at 1080p when you record any video =)
@@cecofuli Actually, for all our tutorials, we record in 1080 (that is, anything that Nejc does), as that is when it is critical to see everything clearly :) For webinars and similar, that may not always be possible, e.g. I always work in 4K and I'd be lost trying to find my way around if I set things down to HD heh! And we don't want to waste time as I fumble around :) But I do have a new solution for that - what I am doing is taking advantage of an OBS script that allows zooming to the mouse and using OBS as a virtual camera for the stream, so this should avoid both problems of a reduced 4K and me not being able to find anything, for future videos where zoom edits in post are not possible. Thanks! Tom
Ofcourse, because this is the first iteration and not every map is supported yet.. if you only used PBR setup with simple PBR maps into coronamtl. It will display just fine...special purpose maps other than bitmaps are yet to be supported.same with materials. Also, displacement is not supported yet. Vantage got support for vray displacement just recently. It will take more time than it did for vray to vantage translation.
Sorry to hear you are having problems. What to do is open a ticket (or more than one if needed) at support.chaos.com/requests/new, but we'd need to know which materials are causing you problems so you'd have to give some detail in the ticket(s). Best is sending in a scene. You'd also need to check the compatibility list first, docs.chaos.com/display/LAV/Corona+for+3ds+Max+Features, to see if any of those materials are known not to be compatible (there are many materials that are also not compatible from V-Ray - Vantage doesn't have support for all material types, which would be a Feature Request for Vantage over on their Ideas Portal chaosvantage.ideas.aha.io/ if you would like to ask for a specific material to be supported). Hope this helps! Tom
This what really amazing. The future of vantage looks good. What was the GPU memory size? it was mentioned that it was RTX 3090...was it 24GB ? and what was the Computer Memory Ram size?
Depends on the scene size and complexity. The scene shown in the webinar was using 4.4GB VRAM...system memory doesn't matter much when using vantage, it mostly depends on GPU VRAM..
Hi ,I used the Phoenix plugin from chaos for 3Ds Max. I want to buy a new computer with a processor that speeds up the Phoenix Simulating faster . What category should I choose, Intel or AMD? thank you
Howdy! If I may I'd recommend posting this question over on our hardware related sub-forum (forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=32.0) as we've got a quite a few hardware nerds over there that I think would be happy to have a go at this question :) Nejc
Sorry to disappoint you, but there are no plans to bring Corona to any other software other than the two currently supported (3ds Max and Cinema 4D). Best regards, Tom.
sorry, this is a bit confusing to me, if vantage already is pretty much able to do all this standalone, why still use corona? (no offence, i really like corona... just curious)
There is still a difference in quality, as there is with any GPU solution, where Corona will give you better realism - which is one of the reasons people choose Corona, for it's look and realism :) Vantage also does not have all the material types etc. that Corona has. It doesn't do all the render elements like Corona can. And then there are other Vantage can't do, such as caustics, or editing materials, and more. For Corona users, Vantage offers a fast way to explore your scene to search out interesting shots that you can then set up in your DCC and get final renders in Corona, or as a fast way to create some test / draft animations or stills again with finals delivered from Corona. This makes Vantage a very useful extension to your workflow during a project, but with the end result for your clients still being delivered from Corona itself :) Hope this helps clear things up! Thanks! Tom
Yes, Vantage is a separate product, we always took care not to say or imply that Vantage is somehow included with Corona and that things are just the same as with V-Ray and Vantage. Hope this helps! Tom
Hi! Not sure what you mean here - the price for adding Vantage is the same whether you are a Premium or Solo Corona user, as it is the price for Solo Vantage. This is fair and correct, as otherwise one could argue there should be a lower Solo Corona price for those who are already Solo Vantage owners, and we get into an infinite loop :) Or the argument could be made that Premium users should have a lower Solo Vantage price since they already pay more... and so on. So Solo Vantage being the same pricing for all is what makes the most sense at the moment. All that being said, we'll keep reviewing and considering how products are offered, that is an ongoing task, so feedback like this is always valuable to add into that! Thanks, Tom
Do you mean, does Vantage support Corona Pattern? If that is the question, the answer is that it does not, sorry (nor does it support the equivalent V-Ray Enmesh). This is because it the geometry is generated at render time so "doesn't exist" at the time of being sent over to Vantage. If it was a different question, just let us know! Thanks! Tom
wow beautiful spheres very very complex scene

Are Corona's plans to have live link like Vray with Vantage?
Yes, we hope to have an initial version of a live link in the next release if all goes to plan. Thanks! Tom
When converting to vantage from corona, most materials are not displayed correctly, the displace and some fly off and are not displayed at all.

You can import Vantage changes back into 3ds MAX.
Hi! No, until we develop vrscene import, you can't load Vantage changes back into Max, sorry. Tom

3090 24gb, pc had 128gb of normal memory, but I don't really think vantage uses much of that, it's the vram it uses as far as I'm aware
