Reminds me of, I think it was that Hugh Jackman Van Helsing movie. The vfx guys were hesitant to have real grass in the shots because they feared that it'd screw up the camera tracking. At the end of the shoot they joked about how they wanted grass in all shots because ot turned out that the grass had so much detail that was still enough so that those ironically became the easiest shots to track of them all.
The way this video was directed (edited live to tape) is a classic example of over-using your multiple camera angles. So often, they're only showing the medium shot of Ian Hubert even though there's something super cool happening on the screen. As a result, we don't get to see it. The ideal shot is the split-screen where we see Ian on the right side, and the feed from his screen on the left. If the director had just put that shot up and done literally nothing else, this video would be better. Just because you have a lot of camera angles, just because you can do live switching, doesn't mean you should. The director seemed to feel the need to justify their own existence by constantly calling for unnecessary cuts. Learn from their mistakes.

Reminded
Here’s a reminder
This was amazing. People create huge scenes after only "100 hours into Blender" or whatever, and here I am almost at that time but at least I can make a box with a cutout to 3D print. I know you shouldn't judge progress against others, but sometimes it seems disheartening looking at all these cool creations and the people who make them.
I'm six minutes in and he's already blown my mind twice, I LOVE THIS MAN
Trust me, some people might be crossing their arms like "PFF, I can do that", point is that maybe you didn't start, & Ian just told you most about it. The simple stuff takes years. Thank you Ian :::) Honestly should get everyone so HYPED! to create something new.
the city stuff looks legit like straight out of a terry gilliam movie
I see it again and again and are total lost in get all details in and learns a lot, thanks Ian

The best use of power is to help and uplift others.
"even if its not right, people s brain just want the stuff to work" I love this haha
I can tell you've grown a lot over a course of perspective contemplation, perhaps many courses. Totally honorable.
I watched this at .75x speed and he sounds like he's speaking normally
I watched this one 2x speed and I can see the motion blur on his voice
I've only just realised I'm listening at .75x I assumed it was normal
Blender next version has to include an "Ian Addon" . Guy is so entertaining and all his blender stuffs are insanely cool. Respect!
So inspiring to see all those projects!
...for some bizarre reason I watch this talk once every 2 months and enjoy it every time the same if not more...
Very inspiring!! Appreciate your passion and lowering barriers to entry in this field.
