If your car door does not close all the way or you hear wind noise you might just need to adjust your door. The front left door on our Porsche did not close right. It was hanging a little low and you could hear some wind noise as well. We showed you how to adjust the door on this Porsche Cayenne but many vehicles will use the same design escpecially VW, AUDI, SKODA, SEAT.

A repair manual I was looking through mentioned using a marker to mark the original position of the bolts so that when you loosen them (and the door "drops") you will be able to see where your starting position was.
Probably not the audience you were going for, but I just used your video to fix the door on my 1983 Ford Ranger. Thanks!
Ye i used your vid too to fix my 1989 Honda Accord EX 2.0 and it worked well!! Thanks man
Just did my 2003 ranger too! Worked perfect!!
I'm getting ready to fix the door of a mini-van. I love videos that apply across vehicle types and brands!
My door sagged way more on my Volvo s80, found this and very helpful thank you 😊
I tried this on a 2001 nissan pulsar that has hinges that are worn making the door sag but with no luck. The bolt holes in the door are not adjustable like your car. To fix it I loosened off the 2 bottom hinge bolts a fair amount, used a car jack and a bit of wood to jack up and hold the end of the door up and then I put a "shim" piece of metal about 2mm thick in the gap between the bottom door frame and the hinge plate. Tightened up the bolts and removed the jack. The shim pushes the door frame "up" at the rear so the door then aligns with the latch properly. Problem solved. Thanks for the video.
This is kinda tutorial which can be perfect without talking a single word
It is amazing how you got the door fit perfect by guess work. If I did it several try's and lots of patience would be needed.
I find this most simple and very good tutorial. Thank you
Yo I’m subscribing in your freaking channel . I’ve been looking for this for weeks now because my Nissan Altima rear left door isn’t 100 close . I will do this … I’m so happy … thank you

Watched a ton of videos 6 months ago and wish I would have found your channel then. Thanks great video
very helpful...sorted In 5 mins on Vw Cc
I was messing with my buddy and slammed on the breaks as he was trying to get in and he flew into the door. I tried bending the hinges back but still get a TON of wind noise. I didn't realize you can adjust the door up and down. Ill try this out thanks!
Well, that’s not very nice💀
Thank you! Really helpful. Best channel on UA-cam 💪🏼
Is try that ??
Perfect video, thank you
This is great for door hinges that aren't welded on. For door hinges that are welded and have the brass bushings that have worn out and the owner didn't replace them and the hole egged shaped out, it is a much harder fix.
Yeah like you’re screwed 😢
We use a scissor jack and a board to level the door out before we retorque them.
Great video!
Tip for anyone else trying this. Accidentally tighten the bolts when your door is slightly too far foward and it will not open enough to try again. I'm sitting here desperately trying to fit the spanner in the tiny gap without pushing the door so far open that it scrapes and bends the outer panels.
Thank you I just bought an Audi TT with the same problem. The door was sagging a bit and causing it to leak water into the car.
10 minutes job , u saved me 300😊
Very thankful to u ..... Very use full for me
Thank you!
I Love all of your Videos when I get a chance to watch them. My passenger door on my vehicle Benz Defender and when I open and shut the door so I'm Going to take your advice and try to fix my own so Thanks for the help

Dude your'e a hero. Thank you!

I did this and my cayenne turned into a transformer he's now destroying the yard ? 😳
Thanks so much! I have the same problem with my Touareg 2!
I fix by this way
Awesome! I didn't know doors were adjustable. I'll give it a try on my Highlander.
New hinge pins and bushings
My wife took our 2012 Armada to a shop here in Anchorage,Alaska and they told her its 4k to fix it🤦♂️🤦♂️Thank you for this video..Damn rip off..
Maybe tape the edge of the door so when your sticking the socket in there it doesn't scratch the paint like it did in this video.
Excellent
My VW Passat driver side door is killing me with that exact problem!! Gonna give it a try
Did it work for your vw passat
@@keegy1965 no. I had to do a lot of tweaking to get my door to close and lock properly. It may work for you though.
Only loosen the top to ajust pitch. Dont touch the bottom.
I think you left out a lot of important details. This method normally won't work as there are other issues involved.
Typically on an older car or a door that has been used a lot, the door bushings will wear out because they are typically oil impregnated brass. This is so the structural part of the hinge doesn't get damaged and for smoother operation. Adjusting hinges because of worn out bushings is not the ideal repair method. Not when bushings are $20 or less.
The other issue can be because the sheet metal on the door has sagged at the hinge locations. This is more common on 2 door vehicles as the heavier doors cause more stress on the hinge areas. If the hinge bushings are good, you can adjust the door by placing a floor jack with a 2x4 on it near the bottom edge of the door. About 10-12" forward of the rear of the door. With the door almost closed, jack the door up several inches. Compare the striker bolt to the door latch groove. You will have to go a little past the striker as the weight of the door will pull it back down. This may take several attempts to get it right. When correct, the striker should be centered in the latch groove. I like to have the striker more to the bottom of the groove so it will stay aligned longer as the hinges wear and the metal sags over time.
Unless it's been in an accident, using the bolts to adjust the door position is not the main problem 90% of the time.
Cool story bruh, needs more dragons and castles and sheeeeeeit
Hello, thanks for the tip. the hinge on the top, how do you remove it? mine is slightly bent from an accident it has one bolt on the outside and the other bolt inside the a pillar. its almost impossible to reach going through the electrical connector harness. any help is applicated.
Well done bro
Thnx. I have Touareg with the same door as the porsche (they came from the same factory line) and the wind noise is bothering me.
There is also a problem with rubber on the metal latch on door that wears out.
Same like my 2010 a6. Same problem also.
Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Thanks!
Thx.
That looks easy but is it for any vehicle 🚗 ? Ford f-150

I have an '03 Corolla, had the passenger door open and started going In reverse cause I was testing a dash cam, by the time I realized it was open it was already too late. The door caught onto the dirt and folded outwards, heard something crack but nothing broke. The door is now rubbing with the fender and the door has damage lol.

The door is sagging because the top bolt had a massive gap before you touched it...
How do you fix a door that has a horrible clanking sound as it closes instead of the satisfaction sound of a smoothly closed door?
Hi. My car has a dropped door. Its a Vauxhall Astra mk5 3 door. It has brackets that are welded to both the door and car. I tried just opening the door a little and lifting by hand but it didn't do anything. I'm a bit worried about using a jack to lift the door. Any suggestions on how to fix welded brackets? Thanks
did you manage to fix it? i have the same issue only with the mk3 cabriolet
