My friend ..you have just witnessed the greatest cover in the history of music .. Rock legends performing for the Gods of Rock .. and they slayed it !!
Bro I've listened to this over 200 times and I cry every time Ann rocks out and brings it home after the guitar solo. She put on a master's class in restraint til she needed to let it go. Everyone on that stage was brilliant and the gentleman who had to reproduce Jimmy's solo hit everything you wanted to hear, he was stellar.
It's hard not to get emotional watching this performance.......Seeing Robert Plant trying to hold back tears, just made me burst out with them. RIP Bonzo
No one knew Jason was going to be playing drums that evening, Robert Plant was moved to tears seeing his best friends son playing that night wearing his dads famous derby hat ,and the memories of Jon Bonham flowed through Plants eyes as he watched on.. At the after party Robert Plant approached the Wilson sisters and said that was the best version of that song he ever heard.
Led Zeppelin was being honored and awarded for their contribution to Performing Arts and American culture. Hence the Obama's attending. The Kennedy Center Honors is a yearly star-studded event...there were many celebrities there... Zep was also honored by other musical guests such as The Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, and Kid Rock... Heart Outshined them all in my opinion. Robert Plants tears weren't just for Hearts performance though, they were also because Jason Bonham was on the drums...(The son of their late drummer John Bonham). Zeppelin had NO idea Jason was gonna be there let alone by playing on his Father's drum set... EPIC all the way around! Thanks for reacting to this! Peace....
Was beautiful to see Jason on the drum kit with his late great father not being in the balcony with the others. At the end it was like he looked up to heaven and said you made it up that stairway dad. Rest well John Bonham and phenomenal tribute Ann, Nancy and everyone else. No others could have pulled that off.
Man, that's a really beautiful heartwarming comment I've seen in a long time ❤️ Fellow Indian Led Zeppelin fan. Unfortunately I was born after they disbanded.... Still love them. They are my favourite band alongside Pink Floyd and I don't think anything in the future is gonna change that.
Heart and Bonzo's son Jason killed it. If anybody ever doubted Heart's place in the Hall of Fame, that performance should have ended the doubt. Ann is one of the best female vocalists ever and Nancy is one of the best female guitarists ever. The Wilsons have made their mark on Rock history, and topped it with a legendary performance in front of the legends who originally performed the song. That's a concert I WISH I could have been at.
Ann’s vocals are killer and Nancy’s skills with a guitar are unquestionable. Nancy was rated #2 in best female guitarist of all time. Lita Ford being #1. This performance is Epic.
The bowler hats were in honor of their late drummer, who wore them often. I think that's what put Robert Plant over the edge. Yes Heart, they are amazing ladies that have given us 50 YEARS of amazing music! They just killed it!
dammit im a mess. this song always brings me to tears. my mom was a huge heart fan. after she passed i couldnt listen to heart for years. when i watched this i cried, i cried out everything i had been holding in for those years. amazing women.
I loved it. 😍 I was hesitant to watch because led zeppelin is so "sacred" to me. But it is Heart doing it and I absolutely love 💘 them so I gave it a go. They killed it! They have this mystical quality about them which the song has too. That was a stunning performance. Wow!
This gets me every time, seeing Robert Plant's tears in his eyes makes me cry. Their version of this song is amazing with the choir and that shred in her voice at the end is amazing.
Dude, your reaction parallelled my own. Every time I watch this, I tear up and lose my breath, with each musical layer revealed, culminating in the final choir belting it out. One of the most incredible performances ever recorded.
I remember seeing Heart as the opening act for Jefferson Starship when the played at The Summit in Houston back awhile ago. This was just as Heart’s first album had (or just had) been released, but my gang and I had never heard of them. To see Nancy Wilson just wailing away on her guitar and Ann Wilson belting out songs off their premier album just blew us away. Needless to say, we went out and bought their new album that very week.
I hear this, and instantly realized it was the best version of that song ever recorded and performed. Even the faces of Led Zeppelin showed how impressed they were. I remember buying Barracuda, the album when it was released in the 70's and man, in a business where women have a very difficult time, these women just blew me away. They still got it.
I so enjoyed your emotional and real reaction to one of the finest performances of all time IMHO. You reflected me watching it for the first time. I am enjoying your musical discovery journey🎶🎶. Keep up the great work‼️👏👏✌️🦋
i lost it watching this teared right up---------saw led zep in 75 then 77 then page and plant 4x in the 90's then jimmy with the black crowes had every zep album as they came out......a true fan from the start does my heart good to see you younger ones discover this true greatness-best tribute i ever saw-thank you i will subscribe and watch yoy react to the second album....
Helene here. Once you’ve gone through their albums, it would be VERY cool for you to watch their reunion concert from 2007. They did a perfect 2 hour set. This Kennedy Center honors was in 2012, so just keep in mind that just five years before they had played at top level .....with Jason Bonham on drums, channeling his fathers spirit...magnificent performance from all of them. That was Jason Bonham on drums in this clip. Robert was in tears for many reasons he has mentioned in interviews: to see Jason again up there, his godson, for one. But it was also because the music triggered deep emotions in Plant about the loss of Bonzo, his best friend .....and what a terrible and tragic waste his death had been , and how much he still missed him. he was also musing about the passage of time, and how much had changed from those youthful, rebel days, to being in that formal setting with The President and all the other “who’s who” of Washington, and wondering to himself, what in hell am I ding here? The elder Plant (64 here) looking back at the passage of time and the changes it had wrought....on the world, on their music, and on himself.
Great reaction! I remember watching this live on TV years ago at that Ceremony. Is really cool seeing the sitting president and first lady enjoying & honoring this classic band doing this classic song.
Fun fact: Heart started out in 1970 as a Led Zeppelin cover band playing pubs & taverns across the Pacific Northwest (Vancouver BC/ Seattle WA). They've always played Zeppelin to the hilt, closing their concerts w "Rock n Roll". Be sure to check out Heart's "Magic Man", "Crazy on You", "Love Alive", "Heartless", "Straight On", "Dog and Butterfly". Enjoy the journey..
The AMAZING ladies of HEART ❣️, Ann and Nancy Killed this!! +With Jason Bonham Doing Drums, AWSOMENESS!! Yeah this was the Kennedy Center Honors! Man there is no way I could do a song in front of the people that originally sang it. Especially the Kennedy Center Honors. Well that and I can't sing a lick. Great reaction:)

All of you, no lie. 😮😁 That proves how powerful this performance was and especially how well received. Jimmy talks about the SWTH song when writing it, breaking it down (caught it on one of his sm channels), and how it begans so slow building to a huge crescendo...talk about crescendo!! 😎❤❤👏🏽
I believe she was well into her 60's and so Heart was in their Twilight - yet this performance was likely the highlight of their career and I think this video opens them up to younger and future generations. An honor for Led Zeppelin and Heart together.
I like to watch thier faces, eyes really...you can see them going back in time, remembering all of it. You can see the time just melt away, and they are right back there...all of them together and it's all so bittersweet. Wonderful tribute.
Brought me to tears when I saw this,Robert was so moved you could see it. Jason Bonham playing 1 of his dad's drum set & wearing his hat was so moving. Jason is Roberts Godson. Brilliant accolade to a world class band.
I love how much this moved you because every single time I listen to this it brings me to tears. It reminds me of the God power of music! Many blessings to you!
How good does your version have to be to make the own original creator of the song and everyone else who witnesses it CRY?? Absolutely had a whole other emotional experience with this song again 20 years later after hearing for the very first time.
When I first saw this video, I was thinking are they gonna pull this off? Omg, I was totally blown away! Gave me goose bumps! Epic prefomane by all who was involved. 😎🤘✌❤ keep on Rockin!
You could tell everyone involved in this performance had great awe and respect for the epic band that they were honoring. The best part was seeing the honorees so appreciate the performance. They were in awe as well. So beautiful.
I love how you saw this as poetry. No one could do this song as good as Led Zeppelin so they did it in a way that was epic, it’s never been done this way before and will never be done again. It was not a cover but a true tribute to Zeppelin.

There is something about this performance that brings this song to another level... The fact that heart performed it so well, toss in Bonhams son playing drums, with Led Zeplin reacting to it all. Then the choir with the hats added a dramatic touch. Incredible.
It's always a great day when you have some Led for the Head...Absolutely love Heart as well...Baraccuda, Magic Man, Crazy On You, Alone, The Butterfly and Dog are some great Heart tunes.
Definitely Dog and Butterfly! These Dreams, Bebe Le Strange, All I Want to do is Make Love to You, Even it Up, Dreamboat Annie, Heartless, White Lightning and Wine, What About Love, ALL awesome songs.
This is truly the BEST Kennedy Center Honors performance EVER!! HEART & LZ are legends, the greatest of their era. & lastly, when I saw you drop those tears, the subscribe button was hit.

A Grammy is nothing "....when you make it to the Kennedy center and honored, and the BAMAS show up you know you are an Elite performer. I enjoyed your Genuine reaction . That song came out when the BAMAS were in high school and they were both listeners back then and now. Your right !!!...it was Epic.
I love your reaction. You go in knowing that you will never do it better than Led Zeppelin so you make it special. That song will never be done like that again. It gave me the exact same vibe as the original.
Not just the Obama's, many dignitaries were there, some from other countries. You have to remember, everybody was young ONCE and Led Z is about as legendary as it gets in one lifetime. Much love to LZ and Heart for such great music and memories.
I’m a lifelong LZ and Heart fan. I saw LZ play their last US show (ever) in Oakland in 1977. These bands were the soundtrack of my early teens. I’ve watched this video countless times and I’ve seen tons of reactions to this. Your reaction really hit me. I love that you see the totality of this - beginning and end paralleled. What a view that must be. I wish I could hear it for the first time as an adult. We all knew it was good when we were young, but we expected there to be more. ❤️
From this same concert with the Obama's present, check out Aretha Franklin performing "Natural Woman ", with the original writer of the song, Carole King sitting in the audience... It's pretty incredible.
Heart has so many great tunes. Rockin' Heaven Down, City's Burning, Straight On, One Word (if you're open to ballads), Even It Up, Little Queen, Heartless, Silver Wheels for a great but short bit of Nancy's guitar playing, all those are right up there for me with their big classic hits Crazy On You, Magic Man, and Barracuda
if you get a chance watch the entire Kennedy Centers honor for them. It was like a perfect crescendo, I forgot what foo fighters sang but Kid Rock did Ramble on, Kravitz (whole lotta love), then Heart it was perfect!
It’s the Kennedy Center honors put on by the president every year and the three older gentleman with the rainbow around their neck is Led Zeppelin. You also see flashes in the audience of Debbie Allen Bonnie Raitt Stephen Colbert the Kennedy Center honors or a huge deal
I would love to see Kennedy center reactions for "I'd rather be a blind girl" for buddy guy, "Love reigns" for the who, "your song" for elton john and the Beatles medley done by Steven Tyler (for a start)
Usually the Presidents and First Ladies attend the Kennedy Awards. This performance here never, ever grows old with me. Phenomenal performance. And Robert trying to hold back those tears towards the end....priceless.

You have a great Heart ! moved to tears like Robert Plant. This was THE tribute of tributes.
That was beautiful what can I say . 😢One of my all time favorites.
💗 💖 💘 💝 💟 ☮️!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to see you react to this!!!!! I knew you would love it... Awesome Reaction!!!!!!!!!!! More chills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cry watching this performance every time... Zeppelin has been my favorite band since 1976. I was in 6th grade.
LOVE your reaction!! Thank so much for letting the reaction be in your facial expressions and not stopping the video. Awesome!!
YAAAAS!! 👏🏽👍🏽
I'm one of those that screamed for this!
Ann was early 60ish, not bad.
Awesome tribute!! ❤❤
My favorite reaction is classical cellist Yo Yo Ma reacting during the guitar solo.
I thought I saw Bonnie in there!
@@sonjaleesloth yes you did
@@Peter-oh3hc I don't care for country but goddamn, Angel From Montgomery!
John Prine the songwriter if that died of covid last year.
At the after party LZ told Heart that they give them permission to preform any LZ songs, that is a great honor for Heart
The best cover of all time!!!! With the original band watching.... Amazing!!!!!
Usually the Presidents and First Ladies attend the Kennedy Awards. This performance here never, ever grows old with me. Phenomenal performance. And Robert trying to hold back those tears towards the end....priceless.
