    I fell for the high fat carnivore push
    I am carnivore but just starting with you guys
    I DEFINITELY got fatter eating more fat!! Uggggggg
    I have had a lot of healing in my body I was almost bedridden a year ago and am doing much better!! However ABSOLUTELY NO WEIGHT LOSS
    SO THANK THE LORD FOR THIS INFO!!

      Yes. I had the same problem and my cholesterol shot up really high.
      I know that this often happens on a carnivore diet and as long as all the other relevant tests come back normal it is not necessarily a problem
      But mine was ridiculously high and, honestly, I was sick of eating so much fat
      I don't particularly like red meet especially on its own so I am really pleased to have an excuse every now and then to just eat lean chicken breasts with just enough fat to fry them in
      I lost 15 kg in 5 months so that was pretty good but reached a plateau and needed to find something different
      I am still amazed at how people can lose a lot of fat even though they are eating a lot of fat but I understand now that there comes a point when some people need to decrease the amount of fat that they are eating so that they can use up the stored fat in their body

    I started PSMF 4 days ago and this is exactly what I needed to kick start me again. Not only have I dropped 5# but I feel full all of the time and don’t go into the kitchen constantly to look for something to munch on. I feel better already and don’t miss the carbs which now is 5 or below. Thank you for your tips and information😀

    Happy anniversary! Just returned to U.S. from 10 years in France. Yep, it's not all fun and games there, yet. From food shortages to a change in attitude from months of restrictions. Chateaus galore but daily life, travel, still a bumpy road (degraded roads, infrstructure, streets of closed businesses= depressing/timeconsuming). Love being back here, in Miami, with dolphins out our balcony as we munch on great carnivore food! The openminded friendliness here brings back our appetite ~ can't wait to get an oven and make your PSMF baked recipes!💖

    thank you for sharing your wisdom so freely; I just got 2 of your books from our local library and am on day 2 of PSMF and lost 5 lbs so far. I am so grateful because.....I have done low carb for about 10 years and lost quite a bit of weight, after my most recent pregnancy loss at 11 weeks, I gained about 12 lbs almost immediately, without changing my diet. I had basic labs done and had lots of hypothyroid symptoms but my FD said it was fine and said I was probably over eating and depressed. I felt so out of control and tried carnivore...gained weight, tried egg fasting, lost 10 pounds and gained it all back after returning to low carb/high fat. PSMF I think will be my saviour.....

    I have celiac disease so I’m gluten-free first & keto second. But I’ve been on a year long stall. I love my coffee & heavy cream. It’s the only thing I look forward to in the morning. 😔

      I would check your macros, you can check them here: mariamindbodyhealth.com/calculator/, be sure a read notes at top to confirm protein macro. Protein is your only macro goal, fat is a lever and needs to be lower for weight loss. Minimum required is 30-40 grams a day. Carbs at or below 20 grams. :)

    I’m watching the replay but wanted to chime in and say I started adding PMSF days two weeks ago and I started losing again! Down 8 pounds in two weeks! I do have a lot of weight to lose and I was not trying to lose fast by any means, however I will continue to use this as a tool! I bought two of your cookbooks and I’m truly blessed!!! Thank you so much! I hope to make Vegas in October ♥️

    I shared this post and other posts with my younger brother who has tried keto before with only a little success. With what I’ve shared with him, he’s lost 10 pounds and at least an inch all over within 2-3 weeks. He does keto/PSMF.

    I'm just tried of all diets. I have been struggling with weight for most of my adult life. I have missed out on all social things because of that like going out swimming with friends. Nothing works and I don't care anymore.

      I totally relate😌. But I know there has to be an answer. I have tried EVERYTHING and cannot looks at myself in the mirror anymore. I refuse to give up. I am having great success in this - specifically the PSMF as I’ve a ways to go. When you have such a great example as Maria - and she has been well known for a long time - not gimmicky - I know this has to be worth giving it everything I’ve got. Please don’t give up. You will figure it out👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻

    So extra protein does get converted to fat in the liver . Dr kiltz has went into this in detail a lot on his videos. all though it is very difficult to overeat protein for me especially lean protein . Interesting stuff really enjoyed listening to you both . God bless

    I would love to hear how you guys live this lifestyle within the context of our society. Everywhere we go we are inundated with food ads, talk about how food/sugar/carbs give us pleasure. Standard "vacation plans" tend to emphasize things like ice cream on the beach, crappy foods etc. How to live the life you do within the context of an unhealthy society?

    Using your macro calculator (thank you!) and would like to know if you recommend adding Collagen supplements into your protein daily totals? Some sources say yes, others say no.

      Collagen is not a complete protein, calories count but does not go toward macro goal. :)

    Hello. I’ve heard Jason Fung argue that counter regulatory hormones (like human growth hormone and adrenaline) are what prevent muscle wasting on shorter fasts (up to 36 hours). His logic is that our bodies are too clever to break down muscle when there’s excess fat on the body to be used as fuel. Sounds convincing to me but I’d love to hear your thoughts 💕.
    Another point he makes is that periodic breaking down/stripping away of what he calls ‘junky’ proteins (say in bone tissue) is good for rebuilding healthy bone after re feeding. There’s also loose skin which benefits from periodic protein restriction (ie fasting). Again I’d love to know your thoughts 🙏

      He is wrong about those claims. This recent study showed exactly that. Alternate day fasting compared to no fasting resulted in more lean mass loss, less fat mass lost, and didn't increase autophagy markers.

      It's clear Maria doesn't have excess/loose skin after her weight loss. I haven't done the research but it appears PSMF days result in apoptosis and the body utilizing unneeded skin after fat loss.

    I have been keto fpr years with no weight loss in a very long time. Went to carnivore and lost 30# which is awesome but now I'm only loose 2# a month, I need more. I'm starting PMSF today, I have found in the past PMSF for 4 days and I get super cold. I'm thinking I need to rotate PMSF with moderate fat carnivore to keep my thyroid and hormones happier

      It's all about macros. For weight loss always prioritize lean animal protein, moderate your dietary fat and track your meals and macros 🙏🥰❤️

      thank you for holding to your conviction I am from wis too omg no more cheese hahahaahahh but feel amazing no more body aches but since I am strict it works ..and use almond milk in coffee decaf hahah but feel amazing your book on it is amazing follow ratios like said lost 15 lbs in 2weeks shocked no ezcercise but am starting gym membership mon yeh will report back later

    Maria, Just wondering how you get 9.5 hours of sleep? I'm post-menopausal, eat low carb, take adrenal support supplements, and have given up caffeine for about three weeks. My sleep ranges from 5- 6 hours a night. I'd love to know how you're doing this. :) I go to bed early and give myself plenty of time in a dark, cool room, etc.

    Hy! What do you recommend in this situation: When a female starts keto many times for weight lose, but because sometimes I eat cabs, from a week to one month, and start keto again the weight lose stops work. After the 2-3 time I start keto the weight lose wasn't more than 3kg. I want to lose 6kg, but I'm not motivated with keto anymore because that. I also do strength weight. I see more muscul on arms, but belly fat stays with the same centimetres. Thanks

      As with any diet, yo-yo dieting is never a good thing. You have to make it a lifestyle and I make it easy with all the yummy recipes to convert any favorites to keto. :)

    I am 55. I’ve been Keto for 2 years. I lost 50 lbs the first year. Then I gained back 20 and I can’t get it back off. I had roux n y gastric bypass. I try to fast but I’m hungry all the time. Any suggestions would be great.

    I had GBS in 2009 and lost 120 lbs. Have since gained back weight and want to know if the PSMF system would work for a Gastric Bypass patient and if so would the macros be different?

    Is there anything you recommend spreading on the psmf bread? It's slightly dry for my taste or perhaps I overwhipped the egg whites? I've just been adding butter but I guess its counterproductive on psmf days? 🙈

    Hi guys, I missed this live darn it. Question, why am I cold all the time (Fingers and toes) Labs are in normal range in thyroid panel and minerals and hormones.well All labs are normal.

    I gave up opiates. I don’t drink. Don’t smoke. Willing to ditch carbs forever and do PSMF days. But coffee is the last straw. It’s the only thing left. I might as well jump off a cliff.
    Sugar addicts need a bridge to be successful. Coffee makes a great bridge.

      Vegetarian is possible if you like eating a lot of eggs. Like 12 a day to get enough complete protein. That is what our vegetarian meal plans in this book do; Easy Dairy Free Ketogenic Recipes: amzn.to/2JV3gaJ. :)

      Yes, the easiest thing to do is get it tested. D3 levels are an easy blood test. :)

    HELP!! Can someone explain the total carbs vs net carbs. I've been doing mostly strict keto for 5 years and always averaged to stay under 10-15 net carbs. Why does psmf count total? Do I only count total on my psmf days? And net other days? How does sugar alcohol work with total carb counting. I feel like it's pretty much 0 carbs, lol

      Count total carbs in everything. Ideally 20 grams total or less for weight loss. Sugar alcohols, erythritol and allulose are subtracted. :)

      Be careful with sugar alcohols, they do mess up your insulin and some internal organs if I do remember it right. Dr. Chafee was explaining it well in one of the videos.

    Hello, i want to join but i do have a question. I am coming from a very low fat low protein vegan diet of 16 yrs. Im 44 female and have an estradiol level of 15 wich i blame plant based and has ruined my hormomes. I have packed on weight especially thighs. I was always slim before perimenopause. Keto hasn't worked for me as i can not release this weight. Is this a safe approach to do this plan for 3 days and carnivore the other 4?

      While it is true that your body NEEDS saturated fats for healthy hormones, the key is not to go overboard when weight loss and healing are goals. It's a balancing act :)

    I am extremely worried about the datas saying that meat lead to aging faster and heart diseases… I am sorry if it is been asked many times but it really worries me although I feel much better eating meat. Please could you retalk about this at some point?🙏🏻

    What does PSMF mean.? I’ve been carnivore! I’m transitioning to keto. I’m having a very hard time . I have autoimmune so I’m not real energetic. I suffer with muscle pain and fatigue. But I don’t know how to lose because I cannot get into ketosis. I lost my appetite on carnivore but I’m starting to get a hunger spike. So it’s pushing me to keto so I can add “0” carb tortilla. 4” size. I’m thinking of variety.

      PSMF means Protein Sparing Modified Fast. It is a fasting method where you eat high protein, very minimal carbs and fat (instead of water fasting) to maintain lean mass as you accelerate weight loss. It is a tool that can be used up to 3 days a week. You can practice PSMF as a carnivore. It's all about getting your macros right.     I felt horrible on all that butter they would say. Please stop listening to those ones. Or all that high fat!! 🤢 my body can’t adjust. Since I started to PMSF 3 weeks lost 11lbs. No pain in my gut from lower fat. High protein makes me feel better and not hungry!!

    Do you weigh yoprotein?
    As protein as in meat chicken steak shrimp etc. And ounces or grams. This is kind of confusing. I've been weighing my protein as a meat and the examples above and ounces, then looking at the grams of protein.

    Questions
    1. Can I ask what the difference is (besides one being the liquid version and yours obviously isnt) between your approach and the one as described by George Blackburn in the early 1970s?
    2. I have seen with George's, there were heart related deaths. With a warning online, attached to PSMF, it reads to have your doctor do an ECG prior to practicing the PMSF, do you support this procedure or do you have an opinion about heart related problems while practicing the PMSF?

      The PSMF principles are the same. No, we don't see any issues like that with the method we describe for PSMF doing it just 1-3 days a week with overfeeding days. :)
