I remember doing Dr. Linn's diet in 1976 when I was just 17! That syrupy liquid was horrible. I only did it for about 10 days because I (thankfully) felt so awful that I realized it couldn't be good. Have been doing a standard Keto diet for about 2 1/2 years, totally reversed my diabetes, no meds at all anymore, but still too much body fat, so going to try this 3 days/week for awhile and see what happens. Thanks for the info!
Glad you are. That's amazing you had that direct experience of Dr. Linn's diet. It's hard to believe what people and companies did then for weight loss. I bet you remember 'Metrical' as well.
For several:months I’ve been reading obsessively regarding many variations of low carb diets…including Atkins, Keto, etc. AND now the PSMF approach. DR GOLDKAMP’S explanations, his very clear, careful scientific assessment of PSMF as compared to other dietary programs is the most impressive and comprehensive outline of its advantages, AND its necessary cautions, I have been privileged to find in my long, amazingly healthy Type 2 Diabetic life. THIS man is a true scientist and a true humanitarian! ( I’m the widow of someone who was BOTH, so I feel qualified to judge.😋)
how did it go??? I will try PSMF for myself...already being keto since 2017 but not completely strict all year round...🙄 I like to improve myself in this direction because 40 years of very SAD diet left some trash behaviour/consequences for me.🧐😉
I’ve always gone on the Scarsdale Medical Diet to lose weight… ketosis long before keto was trending or even well known about. I’m going to try your recommendations! I’ve definitely felt better when I fast ( or eat very light) every other day) but maybe I’ll try intermittent fasting.
One thing I still don’t understand is why one needs more protein in terms of total grams on PSMF days compared to normal keto days. In my case the difference is about 30g so I wonder whether I’ve even got the wrong macros for my keto days...

I would think so. If you know you are lactose intolerant then that's a definite yes, better with the egg powder. If you have never done this before trying the WPI you might want to see how it reacts with you just so you know. Good luck.
No reason why it would work. Your triglycerides will drop from where they are if you have many carbs now. Monitor your HTN ... and write the readings down for your doctor to see. Documentation is always good. How high is your LDL. LDL is pretty much irrelevant. read this book (Big Fat Surprize and this blog Uffe Ravnskov www.ravnskov.nu/) both have documented the myth of cholesterol as being an important indicator of health.
Hello Dr. G! following with great interest your PSMF videos. As there a many, could you number them in the order that they should be viewed? That would be very beneficial. Not sure I am getting the concept here… for a 50+ year old 3 years into keto, I am about 20 lbs underweight as per the ideal table… I can not fathom how I will be able to put back any lost weight on 800 calories per day for 3-4 days… no way I could make up that deficit on the weekend with my keto…. LOVE my fats but max 2 meals a day and have to work to get over 2000 calories 😅
Thanks for the suggestion. I go through them. If you are under weight and want to gain. then I would make protein a priority, by that I mean, calculate what you need/day and figure out how to get that. Ideally over 3 - 4 meals/snacks per day. To that have your fats and even some carbs if you feel so inclined. But if you have your carbs and fats first (aka the SAD diet) you will feel like you can't manage to have your proteins.
@@DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath Thank you for responding Dr. G!! Do you do video consults? if so great!! I am humbled you have taken the time! I have been following Keto for three years and going without carbs has been the easy part.. i started out with too much fat and still have to watch that. I am now understanding that this PSMF is FASTING…. i am desperate to gain weight and was in the mindset that this would be Bulking.. what a shock to see calorie goal of 800!! my tracker will only go down to 1200. So i am now thingking of this as a three day zero fat and carb FAST.. trying to get my head around how to do that as my tracker continues to have me near 50% fat with just the fat content of the meat. So happy to have found you Doctor!!
I’m starting this tomorrow doing PSMF on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays and keto the other days. I’m obese, type 2 diabetes (not on any medication) and high blood pressure I’m 63 and need to lose around 80lbs I’m thinking this will take about a year? I walk for about 45 minutes with my dog but only slowly as I have 3 prolapsed discs and spinal stenosis, I’m waiting for an operation in the next 2 months.
I've had the experience of glucose readings going up during a fast. Why? My guess is that there may be glucose stored in my liver that my metabolism goes after when all else fails. Just a guess.
I have been watching your series on PSMF and protein consumption. Many so called "experts" talk about intermittent fasting, which I have done. But your saying we need to eat 4-5 times a day shoots that all to hell. Would you intermittent fast on non PSMF days? Do you do PSMF all week, then have the fatty days on weekends?
I did do a video on comparing IF to PSMF. What I actually do is so simple I think most people miss it how relevant it is. I eat as I've shown in the 'What We Eat ..' video and on weekends I get to have my liver and egg yolks. They are such a wonder treat. People ask: but wait a minute where are you veggies, or carbs of any kind, when are you going to have some fund foods? that is it for my non-psmf days. Judi's creations about the pizza, or the non-dairy ice cream or puddings, or .... are my extremely fun foods. I just love my health more than my need or desire for those foods.
@@DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath I agree with that. I am not a fan of vegetables. So that is why I do carnivore. It is so easy. I am learning a lot from your videos. Thank you.
You have no idea whether those people died of the diet. 1-3,000,000 were in the diet but ONLY 60 died? It was successful that’s why they died of the diet not of heart disease diabetes or stroke.
My partner has been trying this 4 days a week and keto/carnivore the other days of the week. We are not dairy free but even with the psmf she is not loosing fat.
When I started it took a few weeks before I stared loosing weight. Sometimes you need to get healthy first. Age definitely makes a difference. I’m 54 and 20 kg down so far. Hang in there 😊
When you say that a diabetic will become a non diabetic do you mean Type 1 Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes? It would be really helpful if you could be careful about this because not everyone knows that there's a difference. You could try to get into the habit of always saying 'Type 1 Diabetes' or 'Type 2 Diabetes '. It would help to avoid confusion and mistakes.
I covered this on other videos. To answer your question there is no way a T1D can be reversed. Improved but not changed. I re watched the video didn't catch that. People who are T2D can improve with PSMF but should be followed, monitored, given their blood glucose level. However this is not a black and white conclusion to make. There are too many variables to consider and would have to be on a case by case situation. For a T2D who is high carb they would most likely have major change in their serum glucose level and should be monitoring it while they are on a PSMF.

Dr karl, ty 4 information!, im finnally understanding
Gonna try this.I do IF almost two years now and free for plant oils.I am 43 and around 20,18% BMI. Would like to go a bit under close to 15%.
Do you have a video with information on Electrolytes?
Any suggestions or advice for histamine intolerance?

Why Do you recommend doing PSMF 3-4 days STRAIGHT? I like to do M-W-F. Will that work?
Hey Doc, can a sirloin be considered lean protein? I’m still not sure about the protein sources. What about Turkey bacon and turkey sausage? TIA
can't speak to the sausage but yes the rest is lean. covered . See video on what we eat on psmf.
