And Juliette is so pretty. Loved seeing all the animals and the glorious flowers and natural surroundings as you made the rum pot recipe. Hope the kiddos agree to letting you get on with the plastering next week, 😉😆. Stay well, God bless.

Your beverage "Rumtopf" sounds really delicious! I love learning new things from other continents. The work on the carriage house looks very nice and friendly. Regarding the paneling, you can distress it to make it look old. Use a wire brush on it, put a few dents in it with a hammer, dust it with fireplace soot and then, stain it a light color wood stain. After it dries, stain it with a darker gel wood stain and immediately, rub is off.

Your babies are absolutely beautiful. What a lovely family you have. If you are going to paint the paneling hope you won't paint it white. I love white paneling, but with all the wood you already have in there, think it might just look too light. Maybe you could paint it the same color as the doors? That French blue always looks classic, neutral and lovely. You are doing a great job, amazing that you get as much done as you do with the little ones.

Always love the banter between you and Marc! The Rumtop reminds me of what my southern aunty called "Loving Cup" made using only Georgia peaches and sugar. No alcohol was added but needed a starter cup of already fermented fruit gifted from a friend, hence the name. I don't know the alcohol % but it was pretty potent and new batches were made from starters that had been passed down for many years! Great served on pound cake and vanilla ice cream! 🥰

I agree with Mark it is not a wood normally made to be stained unless you want a soft knotty pine look, very southern USA and beautiful but, not the rustic french cottage look. Amy I really enjoyed your recipe takes me back to making fruit cake with my grandmother around Christmas time with just that very pot.

I wonder about using cherry with pits , since they have cyanide which is really toxic to adults but especially so to little ones. Pretty much every recipe I’ve ever seen says to pit the cherries first. I don’t know , I’m no expert, but it might be good to try and find out if it’s ok? The rum pot sounds like a yummy thing to make, I can imagine it served over a cake or ice cream at Christmas would be so good. 😋. 🙋🏼‍♀️ When I get all steamed up hear me shout tip me over and pour me out is what we always sang to the teapot song. I should probably check that out though. 😂🤣

Amy, a lovely rendition of " I'm a little teapot". Perhaps tea drinking and all its traditions & little songs weren't all encompassing in France as in England. The french seem to prefer coffee. Also, the wood paneling is going to look great and I definitely agree about painting it, as Marc said…it’s not a noble wood that you’d normally stain unless in a chalet or back in the 70s 😁🕺🏻 it will far more suiting to a chateau being painted. As always…bravo! ☀️♥️💐

Wow , what a lot of fruit you already have! I've put up brandied fruit before, but found it difficult to use, and for some fruits, even unpalatable. The solution would have been rum! I'm sorry to have missed the stream, but I was madly finishing a quilt so it could be washed and laid out on the lawn to dry.

What a beautiful room that will be! I understand what you're saying about the basic quality of that wood, but all the knots and "eyes" and the grain! Mark did such a great job placing the pieces in a way that sprinkles the natural beauties so evenly across that wall, that I'd so hate to see it completely covered!
    Just my humble opinion...
The preserved fruit looks delicious, will it be used in baking or for drinking? The children are adorable, and you looked lovely with your hair up and that cheery red print dress! The beautiful flowers, and the chickens snatching their goodies away from each other! Looking forward to the next one! Blessings!

We have mirabelles in Northern Germany, but they ripe much later. When I made jam from them it turned out incredibly sour. Strange phenomenon because the raw fruits were very sweet, so some chemical process made them acid when cooked. I read ( have not tried yet) that you can add a pinch of natron (Sodium bicarbonate) to neutralize the acidity and save sugar.

Oooh I like the idea of that RumPot!! I don't like rum at all, but I know a few who do! What is the Rumpot made out of? Does the fruit last well in the pot, and is it eaten separately from the rum/sugar concoction? Might just be a nice tradition to start here. The panelling looks really good, doesn't it? Marc's a clever bunny, isn't he? Lovely to see your birds helping you against the beautiful flower backdrop Amy, so funny seeing them "sharing" the fruit discards.
