I'm a new subscriber living in WA state of USA. My 5 times great grandfather lived in the Limoges area back in the early 1400's. Wish I could visit the whole area but I stopped travelling a few years ago. I'm 78 now but still have travel in my blood. It's nice to watch your videos and feel closer to France through your Vlogs. Great to see the development of your estate and chateau. I will go back and binge watch from the start of your chateau purchase. Pretty exciting.
These vlogs will be a wonderful record for your children when they are older and adults. They will marvel at how strong you both are and how determined!
What a huge undertaking. Definately involved a villeage of field hands! In the future, when more areas are cleared and cultivation and wall building really need more hands involved, I think it's an good idea to consider Workaway projects. There are alot of people in the Workaway rotation witj specific skills and experience and lots more looking to make new ones, and simple room and board is all you need to offer. Also there's EU grants to apply for for workshop projects of agricultural nature that could be combined in those schemes. The same goes for certain restoration or builds. I have friends who bought a farm with an old derelict landmark mill, and consulting local resources and the municipality they created and ran a workshop project taught by professional restoration experts on the ancient types of building techniques, and got lots of funding from EU funds set aside for these types of projects that enrich rural areas. Today the mill is a local attraction, baroque concerts are held in summer, there's a small year round restaurant/cafe they run themselves, and it's leased for events as well. And lots of volunteers from everywhere came to learn different stages of the restoration and rebuild, living in simple rooms around the villeage, in barns and gites and big reclaimed military tents. They also had alot of fun hosting these enthusiasts. In a world of such detachement theres a movement going on for sharing knowlege and experience and making irl.
That shredder attachment is a beast, seriously impressive and so good to watch him clearing the terraces from the aerial shots. What a lot of work achieved in such a short time, well worth the investment.
Wow! Marc is such a responsible steward of the earth by getting all those maps. surveying the area, etc. and the digger! Wow!!! Amy, you did great (Marc, you too, of course)! Loved this video. Thank you for your hard work!
This is so very exciting! That massive digger chomping up those trees/roots was amazing to watch! How satisfying that all is to be one step closer to your life long dreams. You two are a joy to watch. Such enthusiasm and the knowledge that Marc delights in explaining everything. Love it. You definitely are soul mates and are a beautiful family!🥰🇨🇦
That was an amazing clearing job. I didn’t know diggers could do all those things. A thumbs up to the digger driver. He did a really neat job. It’s wonderful that you’re returning the vineyard back to its original state. It’s interesting hearing about the history of the vineyard. Thank you for another enjoyable video 🌳
That was really great fun! It will be very exciting to watch those bare terraces turn into vineyards. It is clear that Marc is very passionate about the land and its potential. Thanks to your videographer and whoever did the editing. 🇨🇦 💕
Wonderful to see you able to bring your dream of a vineyard into existence. Spring will be here in the blink of an eye allowing your vines to be finally planted. Congratulations! 🍾
Wow! Impressive! Good job driving the mechanical dinosaur you 3. Clement is adorable! And what a bright little thing! Mommy and Daddy were talking about manure and horses and he was following along with the conversation and worked out that cows make manure too and chimed into the conversation with the perfect comment. ❤️
Your sweet family is the best. Marc , you and Amy are so delightful and light hearted, it’s great fun to share in your lives. Much love and look forward to next time.❤️
There is something very satisfying in watching that shredder work. That guy is amazingly skilled! That rich soil looks fabulous from what we can see from the digger tracks. I have watched your channel from the very beginning. Watching g all of your struggles. Even the trying to decide whether you were actually going to continue with the videos and making hard decisions was interesting. I am so glad you hung in and that so many of us stayed to support you is a testimony to your dedication and faith that you want what’s best for your family and the land you have been put in custody of. Watching Clement and Juliet grow and change the way we have watched the Château de Rosiere change is amazing. I will keep watching and promoting you guys! Keep up the good work. I love that your numbers of subscribers is growing. I hope the ad revenue is helping! God Bless you four in this endeavor!
What a wonderful project! That huge digger did an immaculate job on those terraces. I can't wait to see the little vines being planted. What hard work for you, Marc, but how rewarding!
I had to come back and say that the smile on Marc’s face and excitement in his voice when he was talking about getting to drive the big digger made me happy for him. He was like a little boy in his excitement! Clement and Juliet will love seeing this in their dad in the future.
Thank you, I really enjoyed this video. Well done to Adonis, for all the different shots of the terrace. Must be good to hand this job over Amy, with 2 young children to look after. I just love Marc’s enthusiasm for this project, and look forward to your next episode xx
Thanks Janet! I’m soooooo relieved. There’s still a lot of work involved and we do some of the editorial stuff together, but the filming is such a weight off my shoulders!!! X
Really love you guys, there's you Amy dressed for the walk with your sturdy shoes and Marc still wearing his sandals no matter what ever he is doing. 😃
Of all the chateau folks I follow you seem the most logical and pro conservation and as said a great steward of the land and estate. You plan know your limitations and illicit experts to do what is most practical. Also love the family and kids.
Oh WOW!!!!!! What an amazing machine!! I can't believe the amount of work that the digger was able to do. I'd give my eyeteeth to have that machine on my property for a couple of days!! And Marc, you looked as if Christmas had come early when you drove it! Amy, you're a star!! I'd be terrified to even try driving that! You're an inspiration!! Clement looked as if h was thoroughly enjoying his ride too! Can't wait to see those terraces all planted up with vines, such an amazing project. Youresatet is going to be an absolute showstopper in a few years, with all of the hard work and planning that you both put into it. Brilliant!!
I have a big smile watching. So happy for you all. I can just imagine the terraces in their prime. Now with a good earth guide and a loving family it will once again produce. The digger driving tests were cute and the children have grown alot. Clement is talking more now.
That was wonderful to see - I can't wait to see the vineyards progress and the rest of the work on the chateau and estate. My Friday evenings are now spoken for!
I have been following Marc and Amy for a long time now and some years ago Amy posted on Facebook about an alfresco meal they were enjoying with a bottle of champagne from Marc's family vineyard, I asked about the champagne and Amy let me know it is called Henroit. At the time we could buy it at Dan Murphy's....Marc is obviously experienced with the wine making. Wishing you all the best with the vines, everyone needs a different like the one you had working for you. Look at the view behind you as show us the quality of the soil Marc...fantastic.
it’s always so satisfying to watch the earth’s soil being brought back from obscurity..it never disappoints with the depth of life it continues to hold within it… 😊
Very interesting to learn about the castle's history and see the old map and aerial view. The excavator really accomplished a lot! Good luck with your continued work. It will be interesting to follow the development of your project!
Yum! We used to pick them to add into jams, but in years that have been tough for wildlife (like this one here) we leave them for the birds and small animals to stock up for winter.
Love that you were sensitive to the Hawthorne trees. They are treasures and will reward you and your family with protection and fertility to your vineyards for future success and love.
We have a wood burning heater but they’re very sensitive things - wood needs to be chipped first and you can’t chip roots as there’s loads of soil and stones. Ono gigantic, industrial burners could take roots like that!
What a machine Marc! Can’t believe how much has been done and I never realised how big your land is, you looked as if you had been using that digger all your life, boys and there toys! 🤭 you are brave Amy and Clement, I’m looking forward to your grape vines, just think you will have your own wine and you have to find a name for your bottles, onwards and upwards you lovely people you might be amongst the great wine growers of France in the not to distant future, loving this video and looking forward to many more, much love xxxxxxxxxxxx😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It’s hard to fight Mother Nature, she is pretty determined to cover everything green. It’s a constant fight to keep the forest from taking back our yard. Good luck with keeping it clear. 🤞 whatever music was playing while Marc was in the big digger is one of the most popular the band played during parades when we were majorettes. Semper Fidelis maybe ?
I love how intelligent you both are. Marc really does his historical research and understands the agricultural aspects of what you are doing on the estate. Even Clement understood what you were discussing about horse manure when he said cow. Love watching you. This was a brilliant and very enjoyable vlog. xx thank you. xx
Yeahhh vinyards.. we have vineyards in Thunderbay area in Northern Ontario.. there is a microclimate there.. They do a lot of research with a Univ. in the US.. will get the name for you.. good research on northern varieties. In Niagara we also have the Experimental farm and Brock Univ and Guelph Univ that do a lot of viticulture research.. it goes from minus 10 to minus 20C here.
what an incredible digger that is! Caution about burning Acacia.. it can burn really hot and out of control- but you already know that.. Thankyou for another lovely vlog; great to see you back. x
I just discovered your channel. Fascinating. As an architect and historic preservationist, I look forward following your adventure and progress. I bought a property in Occitanie this summer and will be relocating from the US to France at the beginning of the year. Cheers-
Amy & Marc what an adventure! What kind grapes did they previously grow there on the terrain? Am gathering you will grow a variation of same grape? Amy so pround of you for handeling the big digger! Well Done! 😅
Wow, what a difference. Congratulations on all your hard work and forward planning. So looking forward to seeing your future vlogs. Finally got to see your reply, sorry I missed you earlier. 😊
Am really loving your new vlog format. Really interesting, casual and fun. I'm looking forward to following your progress and wish you much continued success.
It looks like an exciting project, I'm looking forward to this 😁 It seems wasteful to burn the Acacia? roots, could they have not provided habitat somewhere, but too big a job to move them now Antony? had such fine control of the excavator Pepper was loving it - a HUGE sandpit for her! How are you ever going to go back to editing your own videos after Adonis ?! 😉 Hope you're all recovered now.
Wow! Hello from Nashville, Tennessee! How exciting to finally start on the terraces. I have been waiting for the work to begin! This digger has made faster time of the clearing! I can't wait to see how the sweet grapes grow for you! All my best, Fred Lee! 🎉

I thought the same thing!!
can u imagine back in the eighteenth century all the terraces were initially cleared by hand no massive machines. wow
I know - crazy!
What a huge undertaking. Definately involved a villeage of field hands!

It saved us literally years of battles with the acacias. So pleased with it!
Wow! Marc is such a responsible steward of the earth by getting all those maps. surveying the area, etc. and the digger! Wow!!! Amy, you did great (Marc, you too, of course)! Loved this video. Thank you for your hard work!
I think my digging skills need a little more practice 😂

Aw thank you Gaye. I’m so glad you like our project. We’re pretty proud of it!

I loved how the digger revealed the terraces! Very exciting to think you can now plant vines and produce wine🍇
It was quite the revelation...
That was really great fun! It will be very exciting to watch those bare terraces turn into vineyards. It is clear that Marc is very passionate about the land and its potential. Thanks to your videographer and whoever did the editing. 🇨🇦 💕
Thanks Judy. Adonis did the filming and editing. I’ve linked to his details in the description if you want to see more!
Wow! The historical records and maps confirmed! So cool.
Marc works hard to get the history right!
Wonderful to see you able to bring your dream of a vineyard into existence. Spring will be here in the blink of an eye allowing your vines to be finally planted. Congratulations! 🍾
I agree..I love how conscientious Marc is about potential hazards around the trees. He’s so respectful 👏

We were in awe for sure!
Very impressive what you have done and what a legacy for your children and family. Can't wait to see the vines going in. Well done!!
Thank you!

People seemingly don't appreciate the skills of big machinery operators.
I've never seen a shredder like that wonderful
It’s a big ‘un!
Really love you guys, there's you Amy dressed for the walk with your sturdy shoes and Marc still wearing his sandals no matter what ever he is doing. 😃
That machine grinding up the scrub trees was quite mesmerizing to watch. I think I need one of those :>)
I might put up a video of just that one day 😂
Of all the chateau folks I follow you seem the most logical and pro conservation and as said a great steward of the land and estate. You plan know your limitations and illicit experts to do what is most practical. Also love the family and kids.
My gosh that shredder is terrifying!
Wow! That digger was awesome!
wow that digger made light work of that ,i have never seen a one that did that .I can see bonfire night as fun there

You're vids are so generous and warm as you are, of course. I'm running through all your vids like an addict to your joy! Bless you all.
OMG that digger is amazing! On an slopes! Wow, those uncovered terraces!
I had never seen this type of machinery. Bien fait.

That is one happy dog.
Wow what a fab job youve made of the terraces. Nice to see you back vlogging again Amy you're looking very well to say you've had a cold. Xxx

As a Patreon , I can’t believe I missed this one !!
I m loving this video. You are so aware of your environment, birds, trees and stones.
How amazing to see the start of a new vineyard! You two are just amazing and it is just a joy to watch your vlogs! Cheers!
It isn't only birds that like the fruit of the hawthorn. I use the River Cottage recipe to make hawthorn chutney!
Yum! We used to pick them to add into jams, but in years that have been tough for wildlife (like this one here) we leave them for the birds and small animals to stock up for winter.
Really great to see the beautiful terraces revealed. Great progress 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
I love the aerial shots as it shows the full scale of what you’re doing. This whole process will be so interesting to follow.
Great video xxxx see you next week.. xxx o you said that Edd and Anna post on friday too... they do but always later than 7 french time..
Thanks Juliette!
What a BIG DIGGER! The beginning of your vines project - how exciting! A new future wine...what vine variety will you choose?
Amazing to see those terraces with the stones walls still there, looking to seeing your progress
Love that you were sensitive to the Hawthorne trees. They are treasures and will reward you and your family with protection and fertility to your vineyards for future success and love.
Thanks Maureen!
Imagine that in the past this was done by hand!
You could use those stumps as fuel for a wood burning heater.
We have a wood burning heater but they’re very sensitive things - wood needs to be chipped first and you can’t chip roots as there’s loads of soil and stones. Ono gigantic, industrial burners could take roots like that!

So great for Clement to be driving a digger with his mom
Hello from the Pennines. Enthralling vlog to come I'm sure . 🌻
Hello lovely Kathryn!
I am hooked too and also in the Pennines, near Pendle
I LOVE a that you replanted the lovely trees Marc. You care so much for your environment.
Amazing what can be achieved with the right equipment!
Wonderful video, Thankyou. 🥰🇬🇧
Am really loving your new vlog format. Really interesting, casual and fun. I'm looking forward to following your progress and wish you much continued success.
Thank you!
Such a joy to watch! Beautiful family with so much love -merci! Much love from Carmel by the Sea
Wow, there is a machine for everything. That thing looks terrifying and very efficient.
It looks like an exciting project, I'm looking forward to this 😁
It seems wasteful to burn the Acacia? roots, could they have not provided habitat somewhere, but too big a job to move them now
Antony? had such fine control of the excavator
Pepper was loving it - a HUGE sandpit for her!
How are you ever going to go back to editing your own videos after Adonis ?! 😉
Hope you're all recovered now.
Acacia are fast growing and very, very invasive. If we don’t take them out they prevent other species from flourishing and that reduces biodiversity.
Wow! Hello from Nashville, Tennessee! How exciting to finally start on the terraces. I have been waiting for the work to begin! This digger has made faster time of the clearing! I can't wait to see how the sweet grapes grow for you! All my best, Fred Lee! 🎉
That is one crazy awesome machine...makes you feel like there isn't anything you couldn't do.
