My favorite line/moment on this movie is when Syndrome catches the family and tells Mr. Incredible: "You married Elastic Girl?!? Oh ho ho and got BUSYYYY" hahaha!
I went to see an Edith Head exhibition where they had her original sketches next to the actual clothes. As well as what they looked like on film. It was absolutely amazing.
Okay just started watching...if you don't add Edna Mode to Cunt Island I will riot! She is the one animated character that deserves to be there. Edit: really guys? EDNA IS A MUST IN CUNT ISLAND! other than that BEST REVIEW EVER! Pixar has the best movies out there, Toy Story, Monster Inc, Cars, COCO, Up, Ratatouille. They are simply the best and I love that their movies can be enjoyed by children and adults. I'm 26 and when they announced "The Incredibles 2" I freaked out they know how to keep their audience going back for more no matter their age.
My favourite thing is the attention to detail that is put into the characters! Like, all their powers are based off of the roles they play in the family. The dad is strong, the mom is supposed to be flexible, the teen wants to be invisible and has a constant barrier, the younger child is hyperactive, and the baby is unrealized potential. With the addition of Frozone, who's the 'cool' one.
WTF was up with that crazy edit in the opening? I actually had to rewind because I was like "did they change clothes ... that was different clothes!" I love how you guys poked the "where are the supervillains" plot hole, it really doesn't make much sense. I think had the animated series gone anywhere, what happened to all the evil villains would have been a fabulous plotline. Like maybe with the superheros in witness protection, it turned out the government started rounding up supervillains and shipping them off to a Guantanamo Bay detention camp, like completely outside the law. The government could even have had their own small team of Suicide Squad-esque supers working for them, ones with powers more geared towards espionage and subduing, as opposed to big, destructive supers like Mr. Incredible.
This movie holds a special place in my heart cause I turned 10 when I saw this in the theater and laughed my ass off when Jack Jack beat up Syndrome...then my mom shot soda out her nose cause of the little boy at the end! lol Thanks for reviewing this
Ratatouille and The Incredibles are two of Pixar's best movies. It helps that Brad Bird is an incredible director. Incredibles 2 isn't as good but I can see Brad trying a lot of things, and I think between that and Tomorrowland, he's just kind of hit a rut of what message he's trying to say with his stories. Also, if there was an Oscar for voice acting, Holly Hunter deserved one for this movie. She's fucking incredible as Elastagirl and that scene on the plane makes me cry every single time because of how much she sells it. I also just love her in general. Broadcast News for life.

I always thought of “The Incredibles” as an allegory for growing into adulthood. We’re all “superheroes” as kids, with all of our “superpowers” and talents...then we reach adulthood, and they’re all largely irrelevant lol. But then we find new ways to be “super,” such as through parenthood. ...I may have read too much into it LOL
Not only was this whole review amazing, but now I'm dreaming of a retro review of Double Indemnity, or Seven Year Itch, or Roman Holiday. That would clear my skin and water my crops!
What was with the outfit switch at "Retro review #18"? I'm used to the usual clipy-cutty-what-did-they-really-say edits but that was some Lee Dawson styles?

Mr. Incredible wants to settle down in the beginning of the movie, Elastagirl wants to keep being super, frozone is only interested in super hero babes but at the end we find out he married someone who is not a super.
This movie is my favorite film ever. It came out when I was 7 and rocked my world! I wish this review could have been twice as long! I cannot wait for you guys to review the next one.
This movie feels like a journey it’s SO deep also I didn’t see this movie for ages as I wasn’t a super hero fan but I’m so happy I held off as older me got it on a deeper level
Die hard, Die Hard 2: die hard with a vengeance, and Die hard 3: Die Harder should definitely be reviewed. I love the Die Hard movies unabashedly. Also you guys should retro review Megamind. It is legit one of my favorite Will Farrell movies and it holds up.so we'll.
Fun fact: The voice for Violet is author Sarah Vowell , who writes hilarious historical non-fiction (yes, that's a thing). I really recommend all of her books, especially "Assassination Vacation", where she visits all the places related to presidential assassinations.
i have loved this movie since it first came out. I still watch it anytime it's on tv (and of course quote the crap out of it). When 2 first came out, my theatre had an Incredibles double feature and it was so much fun and so cool to see how the animation has improved in those 14 years.
