    Something no one with adhd and procrastination issues would do: write a list of everything they do in a day, then have pluses and minuses for each thing with different meanings??? Wuutt??? I wanna procrastinate more just from hearing that.

    I like this concept but would add a note of opinion here - I suffer from ADD and now take medication. I actually find that if I put my hardest tasks into my highest energy part of my day (early morning / morning for me) then I can actually push through them. If I take your suggestion and put them in a lower productivity part of the day then I am now up against a hard and challenging activity when I have low energy which means I won’t ever get it done. If you flip those two I would say your system would work, otherwise it’s a recipe for failure as the hard and challenging tasks will always fail and never get accomplished. I hope this makes sense

      The answer to memory is most likely nutritional, unless it is injury related. plenty of info online about nutrition and memory that is related to ADHD or other conditions, you will find it easily on YT. Also you will probably find the easiest things to remember are things that have a big impact on you. if you find your mind wandering while learning something you need to have a break because you will never remember that stuff. Have you ever noticed when you just read 3 pages of information and you get to the end you don't even remember what you just read, I have, and I know to put the book down for at least a few minutes or more to regenerate my focus when that starts happening.

    I have tried every day timer, journal. I eventually got an empty. Notebook and every night before bed would write out my day in excruciating detail. Like 5am wakeup go into the bathroom, brush my teeth, comb my hair etc. Like I wouldn't write hygene, I'd write every step of hygene. Then I'd write out like 515 weak to kitchen get a glass of water and take vitamins. And I would do this for my entire day. I found my productivity went from 30-50 percent to about 60-80% successful. Do I write every day? Not always some days I don't have enough that I need to write but I do when I am stressed with alot on my plate so I can visualize everything.

    This tracking list idea is absolutely not for me, I would never complete that. I think to-do lists work great and the minute challenge(even combined with to-do list) where you do the dreaded task for a minute at a time daily and increase it slowly over time. A good example would be any kind of household chore if this was your procrastination, pick any single chore or group of 2 or 3 chores and do them for one minute a day every single day, whenever you are ready bump it up to two minutes a day every day etc. until it becomes a habit you are maintaining. It trains your brain to adapt and accept the fact that it is not at all hard to keep the process in place and far less daunting than you had made yourself believe it to be. You will even be surprised at how small the actual amount of time that's needed to get satisfying results and make you feel accomplished for conquering what you thought was a boring nightmare. This small step approach will help cement the habit that you will benefit from so much.
    For some other bigger tasks you can start at 5-10 minute intervals such as exercise programs or school studying and follow the same pattern over time as you are ready!

    Good, but you forgot the part where one should hire someone else with a normal brain to do all those - and break the time dilation phenomena from, er, time to time to remind us that space-time entropy still "flows". PS: I skipped to 1:23 and stopped at the coloring stuff, something my straight-A daughter does to her notes at uni. PS: I didn't finish uni. PS: cough syrup with caffeine tabs actually got me to type this long, actually, avoiding work after taking cough syrup with caffeine tabs made me type this long.

    Omg RULE NUMBER 1 thats awesome. i can just spend 3 whole days making this list and then after i made it i just put it away i never look at it again. And in the meanwhile i havent done anything i should be doing... yeah.. like wtf how is that an anti procrastination tip for adhd?
    If you actually got ADHD its not about not knowing what tasks take more or less effort, every task takes more effort. even if you highlight it green or whatever color (i got already lost there) then the next day it can feel like red.. its the most worst advice i saw somoene give (a part from the fact lists dont work because now we cant do anything on it just because the list say we have to do it)

    I like the concept except I’m not sure about clumping all the exhausting boring tasks together for a large portion of the day. That would feel endless & I would definitely procrastinate those &/or being very slow & off-task the whole time. I get what you’re thinking about too much energy-switching but I think that’s probably necessary to break up the awful tasks & create a refreshing change of environment &/or head space, even if it’s the more mild single +/- items to transition between

  • @fcf8269
    @fcf8269 Рік тому +3

    All good, except the order of tasks. If you do the green stuff first you won't do the red stuff because by the time your day is over you are done and feel tired. You have spent energy doing what you like and is productive, so those tasks that you don't like and are also productive are still there waiting for you... And they need to be done anyway, so you are not solving the problem if you put them at the end of they day; you just put more stress on yourself because you ate your sweets before dinner; you got the reward before doing the work.
    Instead switch the red with the green and do them when you have the most energy; so you can get going and then move to the green tasks. Or at least start with some red and move on some green to get more energy (which cause context switch, but it is also recharging you at the same time). It has been proven that people with ADHD have a very low tank for mental energy so switching activities often is actually beneficial for them, compared to people without ADHD.

    • @Chickentenddies
      @Chickentenddies 10 місяців тому +1

      I was thinking that as well.
      And also, what's the point of highlighting the tasks green/red AND writing +/-? Is the grouping of the tasks solely based on green/red? Or also the +/-? They seem to signify different things if +/- signify productivity level while green/red signify interest and motivation. He only said to group tasks based on green/red so what's the point of the +/-? If they are both to be taken into consideration, then shouldn't there be 4 types of tasks?
      1. Tasks that excites you and gives you momentum and you are productive with (green +)
      2. Tasks that excites you and gives you momentum but you are not productive with (green -)
      3. Tasks that drains you but you are productive with (red +)
      4. Tasks that drains you and you are not productive with (red -)

    • @TotalWealth
      @TotalWealth 8 місяців тому +1

      I have to start with green, or I won’t start at all… But then I totally agree. I’ve got to do my “red” activities before I get tired or they won’t happen.
      Then I can do another green activity later in the day as I will have less resistance to it.

    I started taking l’theanine recently and I was suddenly getting really bad shoulder aches which felt like bad knots but I couldn’t get rid of it with massage. I then read an article which mentioned the link between acetal choline and increased glutamate levels being associated with l’theanine. I then decreased the l’theanine and it instantly eased the pain. Do you know anything about this and what I can take to counter act this possible side effect as I really enjoyed the effects of the l’theanine. I also read that low gaba was associated with high glutamate levels but this wouldn’t make sense as you said l’theanine increased low levels of gaba? Would taking taurine with it help?

  • @ayetoven4207

    Those saying ADHD keeps you from writing things down is false. It is an absolute challenge, but it is possible. You have to consciously tell yourself to do this EVERY DAY. I have suffered from severe ADHD paralysis my entire life. My parents took me to probably 20+ different therapists and spent thousands of $ to try to help me but none worked. I will beat it and I have NO excuses because I am fed up with it and once I conquer it I will make it my life goal to be an example to other that they can conquer it as well! This is NOT God's will for me and he created me like this for a reason! To conquer it and show others how they can do the same!

    • @hanadul83
      @hanadul83 Рік тому

      Suzie h, what age is your child and do you know what type of adhd they have? When I was working with school aged kids, I had them list the tasks they needed to do but didn’t like doing and we ordered them by importance and discussed them one at a time. Then with parents and teachers we’d all focus on supporting our student with one task at a time, trying to remove any obstacles we could, and seeing if we could the child find motivation whether they needed incentive or just support to make it more fun or relational. Usually making a game or challenge out of something and doing it together helps, esp with younger ones. My four year old refuses to clean up his toys alone but together with a time challenge and game rules and an incentive, he will get it done super fast. Not perfectly but quickly while giggling and having fun. Hope that helps! I encourage you to recruit teachers and school counselors to help out too :)
