    Led Zeppelin play a verity of genres Rock Blues Folk Funk Prog etc. & they are amazing at all of them. The live from Madison Square Garden (1973) was from their movie, The Song Remains The Same. Anything from live from that concert is absolutely amazing, my favorite live from there is Since I’ve Been Loving You, amazing Blues Rock, No Quarter is also great. Other lives that are mind blowing are, In My Time Of Dying live at Earls Court (1975). Live at Knebworth (1979) In The Evening & Achilles Last
    Stand. A great studio song off their debut album is You Shook Me, soulful Blues three different solos which includes singer Robert Plant playing a mean harmonica. You can’t go wrong with any of their songs. FYI: you can cover the video with the words copyright, that way we can still see the performance. Thanks for your reaction, please do more LZ.

    Greetings from Canada. "Over the Hills and Far Away" was a folk song sung in Napoleonic times by private soldiers (wanna see? Sharpe TV show Sharpe's Eagle (02)- sung by Rifleman Dan Hagman). Zep just modernized it for our delectation. Peace, love and bellbottoms.

      Even IF the title was inspired by such an old folk song, the arrangement is light years beyond-so much so it bears no resemblance whatsoever. The melody, lyrics, riffs and arrangement is completely original.

    Robert Plant on vocals and Jimi Page on guitar, seen both back in the 80s and both together in 97 at Glastonbury, Robert Plant is still toreing at 76, I saw him with Amazing Grace 2 weeks ago and if anything he just gets better, this is a link for The rain song from his most recent tour ua-cam.com/video/pA7foe9lmuI/v-deo.html

    Robert Plant lead singer & harmonica* Jimmy Page lead guitar band founder producer mixer & editing* John Paul Jones bass keyboards mandolin & other instruments when needed* John (Bonzo)Bonham on drums. Each are the GOATS of their crafts, & together they are the GODS of music. From late summer (1968) until (1980) when sadly drummer John Bonham passed away, & the band knew there was no replacing him.

    This particular track is also influenced by the folk music genre. Over the Hills and Far away has versions in older folk music but nothing like Led Zeppelin's music. The lyrics have similar themes though. The original folk songs on this theme are about a soldier who travels from place to place seducing women as he goes and leaving them pregnant as he moves on.

    Their the only band that uses SYNCOPATION !! as syncopation is used to create anticipation or suspense by carrying a note from a weak beat into a strong one.!

    • @BBaldwin
      @BBaldwin 19 днів тому

      That’s not true. I’m a HUGE Zep head for 40 years, but will tell you that’s just not the case. Take Journey, for example-they frequently employed syncopation as a musical device, even on a power ballad like “Faithfully”.

      Live version from the year before on How The West Was Won is even better.
      Zeppelin made this version funky. They changed it all the time.

    I like the band but, from what I've heard, they're not among the best live.

    • @lyndoncmp5751
      @lyndoncmp5751 Місяць тому +6

      They certainly are. They were unique in having the ability to never play a song the same way live. They changed it up. Check out the live version of this song from the year before on How The West Was Won. Very different to this, and Plant wasn't suffering from vocal nodules then.
      Nobody comes close to Zeppelin live.

      @lyndoncmp5751 hi good morning from the uk 🇬🇧 i can confirm and understand your point of view I concur the same. For me Led Zeppelin is much better live than there studio work. They are creative innovative and notch things up further on there live songs. Each member is simply outstanding in there chosen field as musicians. One of greatest live bands 🙌

      I love their studio work too, but yes live Zeppelin were amazing at their peak. As the 1969 Danmark tv footage, 1970 Royal Albert Hall footage, 1973 Madison Square Garden footage, BBC Sessions, How The West Was Won etc proves.
      Im from the 🇬🇧 too. Not far from Epsom, Surrey where Jimmy Page grew up.
      Cheers.
