This version of Kashmir is incredible. The whole concert was incredible. Wish I could have been there. Such an amazing band. Gel together so well, and after all this time their timing with each other is on a very high level. Even Jason has managed to slip into the fold Amazing band for so many many reasons. Thanks Fil 👍
I would say what they did between 69 and 76. I am a huge Zeppelin fan, but I don't think their live stuff in the late 70s was all that great. Spotty, depending on how out of it Page and Bonham were on a given night. Knebworth 79 is very good and I am sure there are other good nights, but some of it was just off. Before 76, there is IMHO nothing better. Per this video, some of their stuff from the mid 80s and after (sometimes very long after) really is good. There is a version of "For Your Life" - very late as Jimmy has his clack beauty again - that is fantastic.
I’m almost 63 & a grandmother. Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band & I love Robert Plant’s voice! I just discovered this site & will be watching others. Thank you for your respect for Zeppelin. For a band who got together 50 years ago, their music is still strong, even with the youth of today. I love to jam to the old Zeppelin tunes as I’m driving along & there have been many times a teen I’d pass would nod to the music & give me the thumb’s up! And, by the way, I must say you are adorable! Not flirting, although I am a cougar, lol😏😉!
Michael Gorman Absolutely!!!!Note: I had tickets to see Zepplin and it was in D.C. as I lived in VA at the time. Never happened as John Bonham choked in his sleep. I lost the ticket as I was just 15 or 16 at the time.
Absolutely the best band ever! Perfection throughout the decades. I am nearly 59 so I had the opportunity to love them for decades. The live Dazed and Confused/Song Remains the Same solo...that is the ultimate Page...you have to see it!

Led Zeppelin is my all-time favorite band. I was too young to see them originally, and I would honestly have given a kidney to be at this concert. Thanks for mentioning how great the whole show was, because it really is so tight, and they also seemed to be having so much fun! I am so glad to have this DVD. Robert did an amazing job with the vocals, but I suspect he realized he couldn't do that night after night, so that's why he was opposed to a tour. As much as I wanted to see them, I have to respect him for that. As for Jimmy, yes he did have some rough performances over the years, for various reasons, but man he could bring it too, he is the riff master. And I can always, always tell it's him on the guitar whenever I hear him, no question. One of the best things about Led Zeppelin was, even though all 4 of the parts were amazing, the whole was still greater than the sum of the parts, because they were just so fantastic together.
In my opinion Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd are two of the best bands ever. Even later on in life they are still just as impressive if not more so than their younger selves. Thanks for reviewing this amazing band and of course legendary guitarist. Jimmy is the man.
Probably the best Zep have ever been. Robert Plant was simply amazing. The way he held the note at the end of the "arab" section is remarkable. Jimmy on top form and JPJ and Jason absolutely perfect. Watching the DVD blew me away.
Always been fascinated by Jimmy's red Les Paul Standard with the B-Bender. That's a LOT of routing if it's a les paul. ;) I've probably heard more live Zeppelin footage than any other band -- Jimmy worked a GREAT deal on his live tone for this show. When someone like him has time to prepare, production is going to be otherworldly. And his tone has never been better, imo.
Hi Phil. I was happy to see that you did an analysis on this 2007 Show titled Celebration Day. Zeppelin reunited for this first Full Length Concert in nearly 3 decades in Memory of Atlantic Records Founder Ahmet Ertegun who passed away in 2006. The Band spent considerable time in rehearsal to insure that they put a Great Show. John Bonham's son Jason rose to the occasion by Capturing his Dad's power and phenomenal Drumming abilities. A world record 20 million people inquired for a chance to hold a ticket to this event, which is the back story as you now have Led Zeppelin’s Celebration Day. If you look online, there is footage of Zeppelin in Rehearsal playing to an empty Venue. Quite interesting to see how they prepared for the Big Show. Unfortunately, Robert Plant has made it very clear that he has no desire to ever reunite for a Zeppelin concert tour. He stays busy actively pursuing his solo career.
When I saw Celebration Day I was also expecting some old guys collecting more pension funds. Their first song seemed to confirm it a little bit because Robert Plant's voice was a little rusty. But after that it became really good and I ended up getting emotional watching it. Here were some guys who knew of their previous "reunion" disasters who were now determined to uphold their standards. You could see a lot of practice had been going into it and they even got John Bonhams son Jason. I can live with this being their last gig.
Excellent performance despite their ages. They didn’t miss a step....just took it from this point in time but with the maturity they have gained which gives it a kind of rootedness. Thanks for doing this. One of my favorites.

My daughter gave this CD to me for Christmas gift and we all watched it Christmas Day! I saw Zeppelin in 1977 in Chicago and was absolutely Godsmacked at how awesome this show was! I cried because I'd always known Jason would fill his father's stool behind the drums! Thanks a million for showing this performance! You're right, not many bands can recapture their former glory but, even at 69 years old, Jimmy ROCKED and Robert was in his true form! John Paul Jones looked quite happy to be back with the boys too! Everyone always talks about Jimmy and Robert, however, very little is ever said about JPJ and his musical contribution to the overall sound. This song wouldn't have nearly the aura and atmosphere that it has were it not for JPJ. If he was to suddenly stop playing, there would be a huge hole in the sound.
One of my favorite Live video's by Zep is "Achilles Last Stand" from the Knebworth 79 show. After 2 and half years of hiatus after Robert lost his young son. It is magical, and shows how great they were. There is a point where Robert and Jimmy glance at each other and there is a giddy smile/shrug as it's going so well. Had John Bonham not died I think they would have taken the world over again!

I absolutely agree that this was a great Zeppelin performance ; the vocals and the musicianship were excellent and the band seemed to be happy, relaxed and in control.
I think since 2007 LZ had performed as good if not better since Song Remains at Madison Square. They are fully focused, invested and passionate about it. Jimmy is definitely on track and Roberts vocals are the best I've heard in years. This is why LZ is LZ.
I think Jason Bonham is superb in duplicating his father's deep banging drum beats. What a hard act to follow and does it so well. Definitely an underrated drummer.
I had the pleasure of seeing Led Zeppelin in 1975, (in Detroit, Michigan). They rocked the house! Detroit has a habit of giving the energy back to the artist. ...was a spectacular event!
A very generous response to a great performance. Good to see the appreciation on your face as well as in your words. I agree that this gig is superb throughout. The drumming of Jason Bonham deserves much credit for holding the structures of the songs firm in a completely fluent and supple way. Lovely to hear Robert Plant enjoying the ranginess in pitch and timbre of his voice and to see the rapport between all four guys.

Hi, Phil! Melodie again. I can tell by the twinkle in your eyes & the smile on your face that you are a Led Zeppelin fan! Especially, when Jimmy Page is doing what he does best, play those guitars! My all time most fave band & each one brings it every time, as far as I’m concerned. I agree with a previous comment that JPJ didn’t get the recognition deserved, but he is so talented & brought his uniqueness to the group. John Bonham was so skilled at his drums that Led Zeppelin ceased to exist the day he died. Luckily, John Bonham passed his DNA on to his son Jason, & it was Jason’s life’s dream from a little tyke to play with Zeppelin. Of course, Robert & Jimmy got most of the recognition being front men & exceptional at both their crafts. You are so right, that once you’ve got it you don’t lose it! Robert Plant can still sing as well if not better in a different, more matured way. Still, nothing can top his youthful sound either. And, Jimmy Page. Need I say more? White hair & all, he is an icon to other guitarists who’ve strived to be as good as him! The four members of the band had a special chemistry & I think that is the most important thing aside from talent I don’t like to think of them as aging, but after all, they are only human. Extraordinary, humans, but mortal just the same. It happens to the best of us. At least, I hope they stay around as long as they can & give us more music if it’s what they want to do. wingsofpegasus From their press conference afterward they said they rehearsed for two monthes. Not bad for a band that hadn't played together for years and Jason playing drums. Bands together for years could learn from the masters.

Hi Fil, I really enjoyed your thoughts on this Led Zep vid, so I subscribed! The whole Celebration Day concert was excellent but this track in particular was, quite frankly, phenomenal. Though I've watched and listened to it umpteen times, it still leaves me gobsmacked. Plant's vocals are just on another plane. Thanks for your insight.
To me, it's like cooking. With a good dish, what makes it what it is, is various ingredients. If you take an essential ingredient out, it won't be the same. You will know it. With the many of best bands, it is not the same when certain members are not there. There is a feel, a bond and a chemistry. It's a combination of things that make a band what it is. The Led Zeppelin reunion was still awesome, but without John Bonham, I don't know if the surviving members would like to carry on with that band. Great video. Cheers!

This song iconic and you hear that sound used well jimmys riff on loads of tv programmes: a song I think it was written about the bands struggles on the road and how they were burnt out and all the different cultures they met and different people. Different language culture but could relate to them 👌🏻👍🏻
Another Recommendation here! This reminded me of Yes in their Hall of Fame induction performance. After all these years, they were still absolutely flawless. Jon's vocals were incredible for a 70+ year old man. Didn't sound a day over 20. It was sad to see Chris Squire not on stage, but Geddy was a welcome addition. That said, I showed that video to my mother, who was the one who introduced me to them, and it made her so happy and nostalgic that she cried. And then I cried lol. It was a beautiful moment. Music is just beautiful!

I never got into them as a kid when she introduced them to me, but as I grew as a musician, I understood why my parents loved them so much. They are incredible! And their performance at that age blew me and my mother away. It was a great moment. Anyway, I know i basically said this before, but I really enjoy your videos. You have a great way of expressing the "Wow Factor" in these moments. I guarantee your channel is going to blow up and I'm happy to have found it. Keep it up man!
I think that this live version is better than the original studio version. The energy level comes through like static electricity. The whole concert is great. I wish that Jason's drums were mixed a little louder in the recording especially in this song. John Paul Jones once again shows he's an irreplaceable part of the group on bass and keyboards. Jimmy and Robert don't seem to have lost a step. All the songs were as tight as I've heard them. Great concert video.
Robert is a pro. He saved his voice for the show and don't forget he MADE this style popular. Look around on the interwebs for the rehearsal, Percy shows his talent and that he is saving his voice for the Special Night. Jimmy is also having a great time.

that was an excellent reunion concert and you could see the old jimmy coming through with his awesome guitar work but it was robert who supprised me with his vocals he had been and still does taylor things to suit his ageing vocal chords but he sounded like his old self here !

I'm sure there was a period in time, as the previous videos show, that there was something wrong with him on a mental level.....seems to me he's got that all sorted and is back in true "rock god" form. Now he’s super clean jimmy is Back, certainly in this performance. Trouble is Jimmy & JPJ worked so hard to get to that level for the O2 gig & then.......nothing. Now Jimmy just remaster’s stuff & talks about Zeppelin.
When Bonzo died, Robert lost his best friend. Jimmy lost a dear friend, and the band that was his dream. It seemed to kill something inside him. He couldn't touch a guitar for a year or two. When he picked it back up again he said he could hardly play chords. What made things worse for Jimmy was that Bozo died at his house.
My respect to them and ppl like you who APPRECIATE the Led. I was 9 and the first time I burned some treeeeez in the 70's while listening to them and to be fair Floyd, too. My top two bands of all time.
Great video well done....Jimmy Page is a rock god.I agree with so many others that the bad performances ie live aid pales into insignificance when u realise what led zeppelin has done for music.4 masters who truly will never be matched.All hail the gods of rock.
Live aid was rushed they had no time to rehearse where as the celebration tour with Jason they rehearsed a whole bunch. Plus the drumming in live aid was really off nothing agsinst Phil Collins but it wasn’t even close
I might stand alone with my opinion, but TBH nowadays I like this version more and listen to it much more often than the original studio version. That's something not many musician can pull off, after 40 something years: performing better than they did as young men.
It was good to spotlight this performance. This is a haunting song that has to be sung and played just right. The Zep got it right on this one. Maybe with age came some restraint from the overuse of chemicals which enabled them to get their act together and show that they still have it and more importantly, care about it. Watch The Song Remains the Same or Live at The Royal albert Hall either one will show Jimmy at his finest not to mention the rest of Zepp. The thing that made them great to me was their ability to improvise at the drop of a hat. Much LOVE

Yes they still have it!..I don't know how one could even ask such a question!..dazed and confused is enough on it's own to merit that question useless..your a British Guitarist as am I and I just find it mad you could ask such a thing,we are all cult Jimmy!!..btw he is so cool to when I got to talk to him a few years ago!!
This performance was from 2007. Zep released the DVD "Celebration Day" in 2012. The delay was because the other three guys were hoping Plant would agree to a reunion tour, but he said, "no", and it stayed 'no'. People who were there said they fixed a lot of mistakes for the DVD. Robert admitted in a press conference for the DVD launch that sometimes when he went for a high note, his voice went south. That was fixed in studio.
This "one off" show was Zeppelin at their best as far as I'm concerned. I would've loved to have seen a new CD and tour come from this but Robert has the issue about it. It's also sad that Robert has said that "People can't seem to move on" from what they achieved because it was so game changing. How *does* one move on from the Zeppelin legacy when everyone was so affected by it!!!??? Thanks for posting.
I don't think you move on. You add to it. Some creative people especially John Lennon want to erase it from memory because it wasn't perfect, or what they wanted. Or what it could have been. And they feel stuck. So they pretend it doesn't exist. Others don't. I saw John Paul Jones live with King Crimson some years back. And he did When the Levee Breaks on steel guitar. No vocals. It was wonderful. The audience loved it. As I'm sure you know. Music is an art form which allows you to do something creatively when you are young. Then do a bunch of other things, as well as age. Then when you are faced with playing that old song again, you can bring those experiences and fresh ideas to it. You can't do that with say painting. As Joni Mitchell says, "No one ever said to Van Gogh, paint a Starry Night again, man." Joni Mitchell is someone to look into. Robert is looking at the whole thing from the perspective of a person in the band. I have been a fan since Led Zeppelin I at the age of 9, and I never got to see Led Zeppelin live, and I'm not unique. Think of all the Led Zeppelin fans there are in the world only a tiny fraction of those people got a chance to see them live, when they were going strong. A concert would be announced, the tickets would go on sale, 10 minutes they would be in the hands of scalpers, who could ask any price. Why bother to stand in line for something you have no chance in getting if you aren't there camped out 2 nights before? And even at the time stadium rock had it's share of detractors.

I agree, but each generation has to have their own musical "heroes". Let's not knock them for it. I'm 61 and used to love the Monkees until Sabbath, Zeppelin and Purple came along and ripped my face off. This generations music is just that: this generations. I recently caught Sabbath here in Australia and it was a great mix of young and old.

It seems to me that in recent years even the mild, "fair weather" LZ fans have come around to recognize and appreciate such LZ songs as Kashmir, Achilles, Since I've been loving you, maybe When the Levee breaks, No Quarter. And at the same time maybe sort of eased off a bit on such LZ classics as Stairway, RnR, Dazed & Heartbreaker. I prefer to get off of the beaten path myself as much as possible. Led Zep newbies should check out tracks such as The Rover, Out on the Tiles, Houses of the Holy (the song from Physical Graffiti), Baby come on Home, Tea for One, Down by the Seaside. Just my 2 cent rant for today. Excellent channel Phil !! Subbed.
I actually think their sound were tighter in 2007 than in the seventies. Now they are finally not just focusing on being rock stars with all its perks, but also being musicians. ;)
Thanks, Zep has always been one of my top bands and this song is one of my favs. I haven't seen the other vid you mention (I may look it up) but everyone has bad days, performances, whatever. I've been to tons of shows and have seen phenomenal stuff and sucky stuff, (mostly phenomenal) it's just part of the deal. Kinks - Rock and Roll Fantasy - "Dan is a fan and he lives for our music, It's the only thing that gets him by, He's watched us grow and he's seen all our shows, He's seen us low and he's seen us high."
Love the Stones. But next to Zepp you could put every band in creator together as one and theyd still be second to Zepp. They had a MAGIC that has never ever been duplicated

Plant, the poet/vocalist...Page, guitarist extraordinaire...Jonesey, arranger/instrumentalist...Bonham, Bonzo incarnate Would’ve loved to have been at the O2 that night! 🍻
Biggest difference: Page is clean and they had a ton of time to rehearse for this performance. For past reunions, none of that was true. That performance is likely the last time the band (with son replacing father on drums) will ever perform, especially since they finally showed that they could bring it again.
It certainly is a nice change of pace to be pleasantly surprised. They sounded better there than they had during much of the time since 1973. They sure knew how to play to the excesses of the music industry, and that was the biggest reason for their downfall live :) If you want to hear true greatness, listen to anything from 1969-1971, when they were hungry and out to prove that nobody did it better.
Phil...do you ever wonder why so many commentors on UA-cam seem to filled with such hatred? I love watching your videos and getting your opinion as well as some of the people commenting, but the ones who seem filled with hate...I don't get it??? Jimmy Page is great. Has he had tough times where he wasn't at the top of his game? Sure...everyone has bad days and times where things aren't rosie in their lives. I watched the other video where he wasn't at his best. This one he was great. Just because we may make constructive criticisms about his poor performance doesn't mean we don't think he's one of the greatest guitarists ever!
Yeah I think it's just they have no traffic on their own channel so want to try and get some interaction on someone else's. One guy said I was a nobody and have never done anything, he had 1 subscriber and didn't have any music of his own. I'm not sure he even played. It's a bit of a joke really, I've been playing for 23 years and people ask my opinion so I give it!

Wings of Pegasus, What makes you NOT a "nobody" is that you give intelligent, even educational comments on everything, and from a musician's perspective. What people forget about Jimmy Page is that first, he started at a later age than most on "serious" guitar playing, had two major hand injuries during two Zeppelin tours, and then had a heroin problem. He also didn't sleep a lot from his healthy obsession in being in a band such a Led Zeppelin. I saw Page five times: once with Zeppelin, once with The Firm, and three times in Page and Plant '95 and '98. He kicked ass every time. People need to stop judging him from poorly recorded bootlegs where most everyone that saw those shows walked out overjoyed by what they experienced. And judging by that first ARMS show where he hadn't played a guitar for three years previously, due to depression over John Bonham's death. This is long-winded but I just feel that as a Rockstar, nobody was cooler when you see him in '73-'75, a total performer and super inventive, and in the studio- well we can hear the results of that. Per this video, some of their stuff from the mid 80s and after (sometimes very long after) really is good. There is a version of "For Your Life" - very late as Jimmy has his clack beauty again - that is fantastic.
I’m almost 63 & a grandmother. Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band & I love Robert Plant’s voice! I just discovered this site & will be watching others. Thank you for your respect for Zeppelin. For a band who got together 50 years ago, their music is still strong, even with the youth of today. I love to jam to the old Zeppelin tunes as I’m driving along & there have been many times a teen I’d pass would nod to the music & give me the thumb’s up! And, by the way, I must say you are adorable! Not flirting, although I am a cougar, lol😏😉!

Absolutely the best band ever! Perfection throughout the decades. I am nearly 59 so I had the opportunity to love them for decades. The live Dazed and Confused/Song Remains the Same solo...that is the ultimate Page...you have to see it!

Led Zeppelin is my all-time favorite band. I was too young to see them originally, and I would honestly have given a kidney to be at this concert. Thanks for mentioning how great the whole show was, because it really is so tight, and they also seemed to be having so much fun! I am so glad to have this DVD. Robert did an amazing job with the vocals, but I suspect he realized he couldn't do that night after night, so that's why he was opposed to a tour. As much as I wanted to see them, I have to respect him for that. As for Jimmy, yes he did have some rough performances over the years, for various reasons, but man he could bring it too, he is the riff master. And I can always, always tell it's him on the guitar whenever I hear him, no question. One of the best things about Led Zeppelin was, even though all 4 of the parts were amazing, the whole was still greater than the sum of the parts, because they were just so fantastic together.

In my opinion Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd are two of the best bands ever. Even later on in life they are still just as impressive if not more so than their younger selves. Thanks for reviewing this amazing band and of course legendary guitarist. Jimmy is the man.

Probably the best Zep have ever been. Robert Plant was simply amazing. The way he held the note at the end of the "arab" section is remarkable. Jimmy on top form and JPJ and Jason absolutely perfect. Watching the DVD blew me away.
Always been fascinated by Jimmy's red Les Paul Standard with the B-Bender. That's a LOT of routing if it's a les paul. ;) I've probably heard more live Zeppelin footage than any other band -- Jimmy worked a GREAT deal on his live tone for this show. When someone like him has time to prepare, production is going to be otherworldly. And his tone has never been better, imo.
Hi Phil. I was happy to see that you did an analysis on this 2007 Show titled Celebration Day.
Zeppelin reunited for this first Full Length Concert in nearly 3 decades in Memory of Atlantic Records Founder Ahmet Ertegun who passed away in 2006. The Band spent considerable time in rehearsal to insure that they put a Great Show. John Bonham's son Jason rose to the occasion by Capturing his Dad's power and phenomenal Drumming abilities. A world record 20 million people inquired for a chance to hold a ticket to this event, which is the back story as you now have Led Zeppelin’s Celebration Day. If you look online, there is footage of Zeppelin in Rehearsal playing to an empty Venue. Quite interesting to see how they prepared for the Big Show. Unfortunately, Robert Plant has made it very clear that he has no desire to ever reunite for a Zeppelin concert tour. He stays busy actively pursuing his solo career.
When I saw Celebration Day I was also expecting some old guys collecting more pension funds. Their first song seemed to confirm it a little bit because Robert Plant's voice was a little rusty. But after that it became really good and I ended up getting emotional watching it. Here were some guys who knew of their previous "reunion" disasters who were now determined to uphold their standards. You could see a lot of practice had been going into it and they even got John Bonhams son Jason.
I can live with this being their last gig.
Excellent performance despite their ages. They didn’t miss a step....just took it from this point in time but with the maturity they have gained which gives it a kind of rootedness. Thanks for doing this. One of my favorites.

My daughter gave this CD to me for Christmas gift and we all watched it Christmas Day! I saw Zeppelin in 1977 in Chicago and was absolutely Godsmacked at how awesome this show was! I cried because I'd always known Jason would fill his father's stool behind the drums! Thanks a million for showing this performance! You're right, not many bands can recapture their former glory but, even at 69 years old, Jimmy ROCKED and Robert was in his true form! John Paul Jones looked quite happy to be back with the boys too! Everyone always talks about Jimmy and Robert, however, very little is ever said about JPJ and his musical contribution to the overall sound. This song wouldn't have nearly the aura and atmosphere that it has were it not for JPJ. If he was to suddenly stop playing, there would be a huge hole in the sound.

One of my favorite Live video's by Zep is "Achilles Last Stand" from the Knebworth 79 show. After 2 and half years of hiatus after Robert lost his young son. It is magical, and shows how great they were. There is a point where Robert and Jimmy glance at each other and there is a giddy smile/shrug as it's going so well. Had John Bonham not died I think they would have taken the world over again!

I think since 2007 LZ had performed as good if not better since Song Remains at Madison Square. They are fully focused, invested and passionate about it. Jimmy is definitely on track and Roberts vocals are the best I've heard in years. This is why LZ is LZ.
I think Jason Bonham is superb in duplicating his father's deep banging drum beats. What a hard act to follow and does it so well. Definitely an underrated drummer.

Hi, Phil! Melodie again. I can tell by the twinkle in your eyes & the smile on your face that you are a Led Zeppelin fan! Especially, when Jimmy Page is doing what he does best, play those guitars! My all time most fave band & each one brings it every time, as far as I’m concerned. I agree with a previous comment that JPJ didn’t get the recognition deserved, but he is so talented & brought his uniqueness to the group. John Bonham was so skilled at his drums that Led Zeppelin ceased to exist the day he died. Luckily, John Bonham passed his DNA on to his son Jason, & it was Jason’s life’s dream from a little tyke to play with Zeppelin. Of course, Robert & Jimmy got most of the recognition being front men & exceptional at both their crafts. You are so right, that once you’ve got it you don’t lose it! Robert Plant can still sing as well if not better in a different, more matured way. Still, nothing can top his youthful sound either. And, Jimmy Page. Need I say more? White hair & all, he is an icon to other guitarists who’ve strived to be as good as him! The four members of the band had a special chemistry & I think that is the most important thing aside from talent I don’t like to think of them as aging, but after all, they are only human. Extraordinary, humans, but mortal just the same. It happens to the best of us. At least, I hope they stay around as long as they can & give us more music if it’s what they want to do. To me, it's like cooking. With a good dish, what makes it what it is, is various ingredients. If you take an essential ingredient out, it won't be the same. You will know it. With the many of best bands, it is not the same when certain members are not there. There is a feel, a bond and a chemistry. It's a combination of things that make a band what it is. The Led Zeppelin reunion was still awesome, but without John Bonham, I don't know if the surviving members would like to carry on with that band. Great video. Cheers!

This song iconic and you hear that sound used well jimmys riff on loads of tv programmes: a song I think it was written about the bands struggles on the road and how they were burnt out and all the different cultures they met and different people. Different language culture but could relate to them 👌🏻👍🏻
Another Recommendation here! This reminded me of Yes in their Hall of Fame induction performance. After all these years, they were still absolutely flawless. Jon's vocals were incredible for a 70+ year old man. Didn't sound a day over 20. It was sad to see Chris Squire not on stage, but Geddy was a welcome addition. That said, I showed that video to my mother, who was the one who introduced me to them, and it made her so happy and nostalgic that she cried. And then I cried lol. It was a beautiful moment. Music is just beautiful!

I never got into them as a kid when she introduced them to me, but as I grew as a musician, I understood why my parents loved them so much. They are incredible! And their performance at that age blew me and my mother away. It was a great moment.

I think that this live version is better than the original studio version. The energy level comes through like static electricity. The whole concert is great. I wish that Jason's drums were mixed a little louder in the recording especially in this song. John Paul Jones once again shows he's an irreplaceable part of the group on bass and keyboards. Jimmy and Robert don't seem to have lost a step. All the songs were as tight as I've heard them. Great concert video.

that was an excellent reunion concert and you could see the old jimmy coming through with his awesome guitar work but it was robert who supprised me with his vocals he had been and still does taylor things to suit his ageing vocal chords but he sounded like his old self here !

When Bonzo died, Robert lost his best friend. Jimmy lost a dear friend, and the band that was his dream. It seemed to kill something inside him. He couldn't touch a guitar for a year or two. When he picked it back up again he said he could hardly play chords. What made things worse for Jimmy was that Bozo died at his house.
My respect to them and ppl like you who APPRECIATE the Led. I was 9 and the first time I burned some treeeeez in the 70's while listening to them and to be fair Floyd, too. My top two bands of all time.

Live aid was rushed they had no time to rehearse where as the celebration tour with Jason they rehearsed a whole bunch. Plus the drumming in live aid was really off nothing agsinst Phil Collins but it wasn’t even close
I might stand alone with my opinion, but TBH nowadays I like this version more and listen to it much more often than the original studio version. That's something not many musician can pull off, after 40 something years: performing better than they did as young men.
This was a stunning performance, no doubt about it.
It was good to spotlight this performance. This is a haunting song that has to be sung and played just right. The Zep got it right on this one. Maybe with age came some restraint from the overuse of chemicals which enabled them to get their act together and show that they still have it and more importantly, care about it. This performance was from 2007. Zep released the DVD "Celebration Day" in 2012. The delay was because the other three guys were hoping Plant would agree to a reunion tour, but he said, "no", and it stayed 'no'. People who were there said they fixed a lot of mistakes for the DVD. Robert admitted in a press conference for the DVD launch that sometimes when he went for a high note, his voice went south. That was fixed in studio.

The only thing I noticed that was fixed was the feedback during Good Times Bad Times which is evident on the audience bootleg

This "one off" show was Zeppelin at their best as far as I'm concerned. I would've loved to have seen a new CD and tour come from this but Robert has the issue about it. It's also sad that Robert has said that "People can't seem to move on" from what they achieved because it was so game changing. How *does* one move on from the Zeppelin legacy when everyone was so affected by it!!!???

I don't think you move on. You add to it. Some creative people especially John Lennon want to erase it from memory because it wasn't perfect, or what they wanted. Or what it could have been. And they feel stuck. So they pretend it doesn't exist. Others don't.
I saw John Paul Jones live with King Crimson some years back. And he did When the Levee Breaks on steel guitar. No vocals. It was wonderful. The audience loved it. As I'm sure you know.
Music is an art form which allows you to do something creatively when you are young. Then do a bunch of other things, as well as age. Then when you are faced with playing that old song again, you can bring those experiences and fresh ideas to it.
You can't do that with say painting. As Joni Mitchell says, "No one ever said to Van Gogh, paint a Starry Night again, man." Joni Mitchell is someone to look into.
Robert is looking at the whole thing from the perspective of a person in the band. I have been a fan since Led Zeppelin I at the age of 9, and I never got to see Led Zeppelin live, and I'm not unique.
Think of all the Led Zeppelin fans there are in the world only a tiny fraction of those people got a chance to see them live, when they were going strong.
A concert would be announced, the tickets would go on sale, 10 minutes they would be in the hands of scalpers, who could ask any price. Why bother to stand in line for something you have no chance in getting if you aren't there camped out 2 nights before? And even at the time stadium rock had it's share of detractors.

I agree, but each generation has to have their own musical "heroes". Let's not knock them for it. I'm 61 and used to love the Monkees until Sabbath, Zeppelin and Purple came along and ripped my face off. This generations music is just that: this generations. I recently caught Sabbath here in Australia and it was a great mix of young and old.

It seems to me that in recent years even the mild, "fair weather" LZ fans have come around to recognize and appreciate such LZ songs as Kashmir, Achilles, Since I've been loving you, maybe When the Levee breaks, No Quarter. And at the same time maybe sort of eased off a bit on such LZ classics as Stairway, RnR, Dazed & Heartbreaker.
I prefer to get off of the beaten path myself as much as possible. Led Zep newbies should check out tracks such as The Rover, Out on the Tiles, Houses of the Holy (the song from Physical Graffiti), Baby come on Home, Tea for One, Down by the Seaside. Just my 2 cent rant for today.

I actually think their sound were tighter in 2007 than in the seventies. Now they are finally not just focusing on being rock stars with all its perks, but also being musicians. ;)
Thanks, Zep has always been one of my top bands and this song is one of my favs. I haven't seen the other vid you mention (I may look it up) but everyone has bad days, performances, whatever. I've been to tons of shows and have seen phenomenal stuff and sucky stuff, (mostly phenomenal) it's just part of the deal. Kinks - Rock and Roll Fantasy - "Dan is a fan and he lives for our music, It's the only thing that gets him by, He's watched us grow and he's seen all our shows, He's seen us low and he's seen us high."

Robert Plant is without a doubt the best rock vocalist of all time. Sorry Mick, but I place Roger Daltrey 2nd, IMO.
Love the Stones. But next to Zepp you could put every band in creator together as one and theyd still be second to Zepp. They had a MAGIC that has never ever been duplicated

Biggest difference: Page is clean and they had a ton of time to rehearse for this performance. For past reunions, none of that was true. That performance is likely the last time the band (with son replacing father on drums) will ever perform, especially since they finally showed that they could bring it again.

It certainly is a nice change of pace to be pleasantly surprised. They sounded better there than they had during much of the time since 1973. They sure knew how to play to the excesses of the music industry, and that was the biggest reason for their downfall live :) If you want to hear true greatness, listen to anything from 1969-1971, when they were hungry and out to prove that nobody did it better.
My wife loves Zeppelin and not just their music, Plant is a kind of GOD for her, love it :)

Phil...do you ever wonder why so many commentors on UA-cam seem to filled with such hatred? I love watching your videos and getting your opinion as well as some of the people commenting, but the ones who seem filled with hate...I don't get it??? Jimmy Page is great. Has he had tough times where he wasn't at the top of his game? Sure...everyone has bad days and times where things aren't rosie in their lives. I watched the other video where he wasn't at his best. This one he was great. Just because we may make constructive criticisms about his poor performance doesn't mean we don't think he's one of the greatest guitarists ever!
Yeah I think it's just they have no traffic on their own channel so want to try and get some interaction on someone else's. One guy said I was a nobody and have never done anything, he had 1 subscriber and didn't have any music of his own. I'm not sure he even played. It's a bit of a joke really, I've been playing for 23 years and people ask my opinion so I give it!

Wings of Pegasus, What makes you NOT a "nobody" is that you give intelligent, even educational comments on everything, and from a musician's perspective. What people forget about Jimmy Page is that first, he started at a later age than most on "serious" guitar playing, had two major hand injuries during two Zeppelin tours, and then had a heroin problem. He also didn't sleep a lot from his healthy obsession in being in a band such a Led Zeppelin. I saw Page five times: once with Zeppelin, once with The Firm, and three times in Page and Plant '95 and '98. He kicked ass every time. People need to stop judging him from poorly recorded bootlegs where most everyone that saw those shows walked out overjoyed by what they experienced. And judging by that first ARMS show where he hadn't played a guitar for three years previously, due to depression over John Bonham's death. This is long-winded but I just feel that as a Rockstar, nobody was cooler when you see him in '73-'75, a total performer and super inventive, and in the studio- well we can hear the results of that. To me as well this is a high level, high quality performance of everyone involved here. No need to single out anyone, they are all similar brilliant from the first tone they produce. It is a crackling, near perfect performance, and the complete proof that old does not mean lame.
