Imagine going back in time and showing a UA-cam video of this to a kid playing Pole Position in the 1980s arcade. He'd probably be permanently traumatized.
you know, its beautiful but not necessarily more fun. I loved the racing games back then but don't play them now - easier to just get in my real race car.
It's crazy that there's nothing left or right, just trees and obstacles but the track itself looks pretty alright, it's just that once you go off-track at high speed you have a 99.99% chance of dying
The way there's absolutly no escape if anything goes wrong is scary even going virtual... I'm working on a wet tire model to recreate that race under rain, which should be terrifying.
2:23 is a photorealistic depiction of what a driver in this era would face. RF in the grass, not a big issue but if you don’t solve it in the next 100 yards you’re in a barn, and if you tug the wheel too hard you’re in a barn. Just death casually sauntering up and giving you a lil smooch on the cheek, try not to think about it too hard for the rest of the race
It wasn't as high as that, it was less than half. Of the drivers who entered qualifying of the real life version of this race, 1966 Spa, 7 died in racing accidents at some point and 12 survived into retirement or died from different reasons (or are still around). A handful of those 7 who were killed didn't die until the 1970s. It's still a lot, far too many, but not as high as 2/3
@@Adam-qi7no well Sir Jackie Stewart counted with his wife that many died during his period of racing. He that stated figure. Watch Grand Prix the killer years. He states it in that documentary. what the heck happened to the sky at the beginning there? things like that never used to bother me, but since using VR things like that, even on a pancake screen, somehow make me feel a little sick just for a few seconds. weird. actually using vr i am fine though, at least in sim racing anyway.
I drive this mod, and i can say, they have a lump of coal here who can turn into a dimond. If they put in all the track 67 with fixed ai, then i can say its an replacment for GPL 98. Regards from Sweden.
Actually there are a wild bunch of 60s tracks already available. My main issue is that they feel absolutly flat!!! The road textures are so important... I could go with a vaguely acceptable scenery but i just can't drive on a perfectly flat surface. As for the AI, i'm still hoping for some magical mod to happen. This is the crucial point to improve, i agree.

Still loved the game when it came out. PC2 has that all in one ready to play vibe to it. I think RF2 or AMS2 would be a better long term game to invest in still, PC2 has been removed from stores because the tracks/car licenses are out

I have a PS4 and have bought (downloaded) an Assetto game but I'm using a standard PS controller, the throttle is L2 (shit) the brake is R2 (shit) the steering is so sensitive the in car hands/arms turn at an amazing speed the vehicle is almost uncontrollable. Normal PS games Throttle and Steering work of R/L3 with gear changes R/L2, how do I get to Gran Tourismo controller style? I haven't played it since the first time after purchase and its been a complete waste of money as I dont intend to buy a steering wheel. Any help is really appreciated.. Thanks.
Hey mate, you wouldn't be able to reach to mods nor any improvments the community have made since, so this track and the graphic/head motion settings for example are not available on consoles.
